Brilliant!!! The best tour we did!!!
We were recommended to take this tour at Croatian Tourist Office and we definitely didn`t regret! Walking tour is focused on Ancient and Medieval history of the Split but because we were so interested our guide, Boris, brilliant young person with great knowledge about various subjects and not just about the history, gave us great lesson about the more recent events in Croatian history. As a local guy he explained us also problems and concerns of the local community as well as some interesting controversies of the Croatian society in general. This was the best thing which we did on our vacation and Boris was the best guide which we ever had!! We did a lot of tours but this one, as we all agreed, was the best we did! Boris was very knowledgeable, fluent in English, friendly and patient with all of our questions which we had! Just amazing and we definitely recommend this to everyone who wants to know more about the Croatia and this part of the world in every possible sense! Thank you so much for everything Boris! We can`t wait to come back to Split and do this again with our friends as well! Griffith Family

    See Split with the best
We cannot speak highly enough of Boris. We booked a day tour of Split for our family of 5 (including 3 teenagers) and he managed to keep each one of us engaged and entertained! He is a true professional, articulate, with an immense knowledge of Split and it's history. He is a great communicator with a fantastic sense of humour. Definitely the best guide we've ever had (and not just in Croatia). If you are thinking of visiting Split and using a tiur guide, look no further than Pomalo Tours (Boris) Keep up the great work Boris. Robert & Diana

    Wonderful and enjoyable tour
Boris is wonderful! We had a great tour with him and enjoyed learning all about Split, as well as getting to know him. This is such an easy, helpful and fun way to get to know this most unique place. Have a wonderful time with Boris on any of his tours!

Great, different tour with true expert!
Very interesting and different tour! We wanted to know more about recent history and this was the only tour. Our guide Boris, who guided as also on another tour, was very knowledgeable and he is, in general, true expert for history. Definitely do this tour if you want something different!

Different tour of Split with fantastic and very knowledgeable guide! High recommendation!!
We took this tour because we wanted to know more about communist period in Croatia and Split and how we were very interested in this matter we booked it as a private tour. We had our guide Boris with us and we were very happy about it because he is real expert. Boris is highly knowledgeable, not just about the history but everything related to it as well. On the tour you will see parts of the city which you want be able to see on regular tours and you go there by car or van. Boris also offered us to show some things which are ussually not part of the tour and how we were on private tour we could model it by ourselves. We truly enjoyed it and felt we learned a lot because the tour definitely changed our perspective on some things about communism in Croatia/Yugoslavia. We highly recommend this tour and especially with Boris as your guide! We cannot thank him enough for sharing his knowledge and for being such a pleasant company. Thank you so much Boris for everything!

Best private tour we did! More than a tour!!
We took the private tour with Boris because we wanted to know more about the history of the city and we wanted to do that "one on one" because we had a lot of questions considering we are great history lovers. It was a great decision and Boris was a perfect choice. He explained us historical development of the city from beginning to the end in a very smooth way so we were able to understand it very easily. We were also interested in other things beside the history and architecture such as social development, politics, economy and we were surprised how well Boris was versed in all. His knowledge and understanding of the broader themes and area gave us great opportunity to find out much more than we were expecting from the tour. Boris went above and beyond in every possible way to share all of his knowledge with us and as we even exceeded the tour duration he stayed with us which we consider very kind of him. During all the tour we felt very comfortable as we felt we are with our friend and not only a person who we saw for the first time in our life! We can`t recommend Boris enough, great guide, teacher and person. Very knowledgeable and passionate about what he is doing. Also, we recommend to do the private tour with him because you will have him "all for yourself", which is, talking about him, great experience!

    Amazing historical tour
Boris is an excellent tour guide with a deep knowledge of the city and excellent way of presenting the information that brought history to 'life'. We had a very small group so it was easy to stop, ask questions, take pictures and very easy to spend more time exploring a particular piece of history. I could have spent more than two hours listening to him. Definitely worth the time and would recommend this tour to anyone.

Hidden gem tour in Split! Highly recommended!!
If you want something completely different in Split you should take this tour. Before this one we already did the walking tour with Boris and how delighted we were, we decided to go for this one as well. Communist tour of Split gives you completely different view on the history of Split because most of the tours are focused on Roman and Medieval history of the area and this is the only one which offers you to see and understand the period of the history which is not so "in focus" but has every reason not to be like that. The tour focus is on period of Communism/Socialism between two wars, World War II and conflicts in the Balkan in the 1990s even though you will hear what was happening in this area during that time as well. Politics, life, architecture and other themes you probably won`t be able to understand without someone to tell/show you about it. Boris is definitely great choice! Historian, history teacher, tour guide with extensive knowledge for the themes which are part of this tour, will take you through the important parts and the hidden gems as well. Also, there are some small "touches" like having a popular drink from that period and taking a picture at the wheel of one of the symbols of Communist/Socialist Yugoslavia, which is a great add to the tour. After city walking tour, once again, very high recommendation for this tour as well. This is something you won`t be able to get anywhere else in Split. One more time, thank you very much Boris! :) Doreen & Mike

Fascinating and must do it!!! Highest recommendation!!!
When we came to Split we didn't expect significant twentieth century history related to communism so we were very curious when were booking this tour! But it was a bingo! This part of the history of Split is hidden and not so much in the focus which is making it even more interesting! Boris this time showed us interesting architecture of socialist period which was followed with fascinating facts and stories about it! History of Yugoslavia is interesting and unique because it is presenting life and politics between two worlds in that time, western and eastern! Fascinating is a right word for it and Boris is right person to show you that! Must do it!!!

Different tour - different and great experience!!!
This was our second tour with Boris, after we already did the walking tour with him in old city. As we expected this was also a great tour on which we found out a lot about communist period of Split as well as about Croatia and Yugoslavia in general. Boris gave us great insight into this interesting and not so known period of history of this area. History, architecture, everyday life, politics, dictatorship of Tito and many other topics were part of this tour so we really learned a lot, especially because we had a guide who is also a professional historian! We also tasted popular drink of the communist era which was a nice addition to the tour! If you want to see and hear about some other part of Split history and about life in general in communist Yugoslavia I would definitely recommend this tour! All together we were on two tours with Boris and we felt lucky that we had him as our guide! Great experience!! Thank you so much Boris!!!

Communist Yugoslavia as it was - unforgetable experience!
As we were already on another tour with Boris on which we were explained mostly Roman and Medieval part of the history of Split we wanted to know a bit more so we decided to go with him on his Communist tour. Boris showed us that there is much more than just a Roman Emperor's palace, medieval noble palaces and squares in the city. The communist (socialist) heritage is quite impressive as well. We started in the center of the city where we were introduced with "legacy" of the WW2 in Split. After that we visited few locations in Split by car on which we were explained about unique Yugoslavia history, politics, arhitecture and way of life together with other interesting themes such are health and education system. It was "smoothly cruise" between parts of Yugoslavia heritage with interesting stops such as at first Yugoslavia mall or modern communist neighboorhood. During the tours we also had a chance to try popular sada drink of that period which was nice "touch". On the end of the tour Boris explained us the fall of Yugoslavia and gave us some interesting facts about the war. This tour was like a search for treasure of modern history! And Boris was definitely the best person who guided us in that search! After this two tours with Boris I can say that we coudn't spent our time in Split better than this. We enjoyed, we lau we learned and we left fulfilled with unforgetable memories. Thank you Boris

Incredible history tour by Master of history!!
We decided to go on this tour and definitely didn't regret it! Moreover we were so happy that we did that we went with Boris on another tour as well. Boris is enthusiastic young man who is also great guide and very knowledgeable historian which on this kind of tours can be big plus. He led us through the history of his hometown Split highlighting important parts of it as well as he discovered us some hidden gems. He explained us complicated history in logical way so we were able to "feel" the city life through the history and understand how the city developed from one ancient palace to the modern city. Boris has a way how to give you the best in short time, considering that is not easy to summarize 1700 years and more in two hours. On the other hand we were convinced that he could talk about Split history for hours when we went on another tour with him on which we were led through the communist (socialist) period of Split! Truly recommend this tour to all history lovers!

    New and original. Must see!
I never had the chance till now to go to a tour like this. I Highly recomend it! Didn't know Split had such a rich communist history. The local architecture from that time was very intesting and somewhat unique in its own way. Very refreshing if people want to get to know the bit more modern history which had a lot to offer in the sense of architecture as an art, which tells its own story about how the architects percived the times of communism through it's buildings.

    Refreshing and very interesting tour.
A friend of mine which was on Boris's tour recomended him. I was visiting Split for holidays with my friends from Germany and wanted them to get to know the history of Split with a touch of a local mentality. The tour was exciting. It's nice to hear a story told by a entusiastic professional historian, especially when history is combined with experiencing the local vibe. I warmly recomend this tour to all who want to experience more than they can read on a brochure or on the internet :)

    A fantastic experience
Boris was a fantastic guide! He perfectly blended his experience as a Split native with his academic history. We had the added benefit that others cancelled so we had a private tour! Highly recommended.

Boris was knowledgeable and gave us a comprehensive tour of the city centre. He was also friendly and engaging, making the tour more interesting. Since it is a small group tour, it is much better than a big group tour in the sense that you can ask more questions and interact more with the guide. Boris was very helpful and answered all our questions. I also particularly loved how he shared his local perspectives about the impact of tourism on the community. I could also feel his passion to share about history with us -- he extended the tour for nearly an hour to give us the best experience possible despite sacrificing his time to accompany his family!

Thank you very much! It was my pleasure to be your guide in Split! Small groups are definitely more "interactional" but also a chance for guests to find out something more about topics they are interested. Also, interesting part of this tour are everyday topics of the local community as for example impact of the tourism on the local community. Providing the best walking tour experience is a goal of this tour! :)))

Amazing tour with Boris. After seeing the Diocletian's palace with Boris, it is hard to imagine a better experience. It is a crowded place in September with 1700 years of history and many nooks and cranny's. Boris not only explains what you are seeing, but shows but how each of the areas in this "city in a palace" has changed over time and gives personal tips for food, stores, etc. It is Boris's company so will always get him.

Boris is a wonderful guide. We were lucky to get him all to ourselves. He took the 4 of us around the palace telling stories and bringing the Split old town to life. He was able to keep our children aged 10 and 12 interested throughout. It’s a great way to get a good overview of the history, get your bearings and get some insider knowledge from a local expert. I would recommend doing the tour on your arrival at the old town and then you can go off and explore further. Thanks Boris - great job!

Branko did a fabulous job with personal insights, clear English, excellent individual sound system for each attendee and rich historical content. With so many tour groups in split, I felt privileged to has a comfortable, quiet place to wait for our tour to begin as well. Would highly recommend this tour company, professional from check in and beyond.

An old city tour with Boris is a must!! In two hours we saw all the ‘must see’ sites, as well as little hidden city gems. Boris really knows so much about his beautiful city. This tour felt very relaxed and not overdone. Boris is a great guide, personable, and knowledgeable. The 6pm time slot was perfect as the weather had cooled, and the setting sun made for some beautiful photos. Thank you Boris for such a great tour! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My wife I are were visiting Split as part of our cruise, and we wanted to find a local guide to help us learn more about the city. We were fortunate enough to book the "Experience Split with Local Professional Historian" and very much enjoyed the tour. Our guide, Boris, was clearly very familiar with the history, and did a great job of explaining it to our small group. Rather than just show us around, he explained what historians know and don't know, and offered some professional opinions are well that were very insightful. We highly recommend this tour with Boris.

We chose to book with Boris as we were keen on a smaller group tour. Due to some cancellations we ended up as a group of four, which was perfect. Boris was a great guide, he is clearly very passionate about what he does and that made for a wonderful experience for us. In the time we were with him I felt we had a great understanding of the place and it really helped us with our bearings. Boris also gave us some suggestions for dinner and gave us his email if we needed any help whilst in Split. As always, you are keen to support small businesses and Boris is a hidden gem! Boris suggested Villa Spiza for dinner and we were keen to go but it was closed on one day and on our last day we only had little cash left and only cards when they only take cash. The menu looked great and varies based on what they have available on the day, it also seemed very reasonably priced.

When you are in Split do this tour! Tour is organized on the way that you easily can get deeper understanding of Croatian and especially Split history. History tour with so knowledgeable historian who is also great storyteller is something you will appreciate and enjoy in if you are history lover. Our guide, Boris, also combined it with stories from his personal life and stories from the present life of people living in this area and in this city. Boris is so generous in sharing his knowledge so we really learned a lot and we will definitely do this again when we come back with our families!

We took this tour and our guide was Boris. Tour was very interesting, mostly covering history of the city but also very informative about the present, everyday life of the people and customs. Boris did a great job explaining us complicated history of the area and even though he is a historian and he is a master of it, he gave us also great introduction to the city life in general skilfully combining the whole thing. We would definitely recommend this tour to everyone as we left the tour delighted with how much we found out! Thank you Boris! :)

We had an amazing time on this tour with Boris who is a fantastic local guide who also teaches history in the school. He is very knowledgeable and he connected the facts about history of Split with interesting stories and legends through past and present. Not just about different local themes and history in first place, but Boris has a great broader knowledge of it in the area of Croatia and Europe in general. He was also very personal including some private stories from his life in Split which we consider a great "touch"- This tour is not just "one of the tours" and Boris is main reason for it. The time just passed by for us even the tour was very informative. We had a great time and we could definitely recommend this tour to everyone who likes this kind of tours!
