After your guide picks you up from your hotel, the journey will begin with a drive to Bosnia and Herzegovina. On the way to the ancient Ottoman city of Mostar, you will stop in the walled town of Počitelj which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This places intrigue will drive the interest and excite to discover the history of the city of Mostar.
Once in Mostar, your local guide will introduce you to the great history of he city known as “the window to the Orient.” Visiting sites such as the Old Bazaar, full of picturesque shops and craft workshops as well as the Mosque. After, enjoy a walk along the famous UNESCO protected old bridge from the 16th century. There will be plenty of free time for shopping and opportunities to taste some authentic Bosnian specialties like cevapi, pita or burek.
Then it is off to experience the beauty of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to the final destination, Medjugorje, which is one of the most visited pilgrimage centers in all of Europe. One of the most compelling sites here is the Mount of Appearance where the Virgin Mary reportedly appeared to children in 1981.
Your tour guide will help you understand and appreciate why this place of peace and compassion has become such a worldwide destination for pilgrimage. As an option, you may also enjoy some wonderful swimming in the nearby Kravice waterfalls. After this, you will return to Dubrovnik.
