- mikebD8489CM0 contributionsPleasant potteringBit grey and choppy but we went for it and had a very pleasant time. Didn’t go round to beach on the island so basically some pootling along the coast, 30 mins at cave beach where we could swim and over to Lokrum Island and a leisurely return. Andro, our guide, was relaxed and well informed , giving lots of local knowledge. At E40 each, A bit overpriced for what we got, even with the banana (!!) and water bottle, but a lovely way to spend a morning . Thanks guys!Written 18 October 2024
- Gillyfor0 contributionsFabulous few hours and really good fun.We had such an amazing afternoon, even though the weather was not great this didn't matter at all! Our guide Andro was awesome, really good fun and was so knowledgeable about the area. We went to an amazing cave and were able to swim and snorkel. The waves were choppy which added to the experience! On the way back we went by Lockum island which is beautiful. Overall we really recommend spending a few hours on the sea. It's just a magical way to see Dubrovnik.Written 18 October 2024

- julialB3201IO0 contributionsLoved it, big wavesWe went on the tour with Eddy. It was really choppy weather because of high winds the day before. We went ahead with it and it was definitely high waves but always felt safe with Eddy guiding us. I did get seasick though. We stopped at the cave which was nice but because of the waves Alessandro (Eddy's friend) ended up coming out to help us get out of the cave. Definitely an adventure tour!Written 11 October 2024

We booked this as a family of four. We were in a small group of 5 kayaks and had a great time touring around Lokrum Island and into two cave areas, with a beautiful sunset above the City Walls to end.
Our guide for the trip (Rocko) was amazing, so friendly & informative. He managed to help my wife, who fell ill during the trip, by arranging for a small boat to collect her when she was unable to complete the kayaking. Can't thank him enough for that.
Would definitely recommend X-Adventures

We started our sunset tour at a beach area just west of the Fort Lovrijnac outside Dubrovnik's walls. Our route had us paddling out, around Lokrum Island, and then back on the side closer to town past the city walls to our starting point. Overall it lasted about 3 hours, with most of that in the kayaking with one shore stop. We have a fair amount of kayaking experience, but it was a pretty good distance of paddling. All of the kayaks are double, meaning you can both help each other, and our group did fine, but be aware that there's some work involved.
The entire tour was fairly large, but we were split into 3 or 4 groups, each with about 6 double kayaks and our own guide; after leaving the dock area we didn't really see or interact with the other groups further. Our guide was fun and knowledgeable and told us a fair amount about local history and about Lokrum Island.
We paddled around Lokrum with a few stops to rest and learn. We didn't land on the island itself, but got a good look at it, as well as some shoreline areas with small bays and caves and rocky areas. I think each kayaking group may have stopped in a different location, but after circling the far side of the island, we went to the shore a bit east of the walled city, stopping at a dock near the abandoned Hotel Belvedere. There, we got out of the kayaks and had the chance to use snorkels and swim in the Adriatic from a rocky beach, where we saw fish and enjoyed the cool water. Our guide also walked us up to the balcony area of the hotel, where he told us more about its history and had wine to share as we admired the view of the island and the harbor.
The final run was back towards the city as it was nearing sunset. We enjoyed seeing the sun setting behind the walled city, and as we got closer, unique views of the walls themselves from the sea as we returned to our departure point. Overall this was a fun experience and a chance to see Lokrum Island closeup and the exterior of the walls from a new perspective.

The tour guide was terrific; however, because of the wind, we couldn't go around the island, which didn't allow us to watch the sunset. Overall it's a bit pricey, I imagined we were going to be able to sip wine at one of the stops, but the wine is given for people to take with them after the tour finishes. It would be great for the tour guide to wait for most of the group to start explaining the history of certain stops/areas. Overall good, but not worth the price. I booked the tour for myself and ended up sharing a kayak, which is also not ideal when you need to "deal" with people you don't know and just want to have a fun time by yourself!

Booked a trip with X Adventures on their sunset kayaking tour and it did not disappoint. From the very beginning, Marco was an excellent guide. Extremely knowledgable about the area, Marco took us around Dubrovnik and the surrounding islands and all the time we felt extremely safe and looked after. He has a great sense of humour which made the tour extremely enjoyable! Marco knows great areas in which to take photos and remember such an incredible experience. As someone who loves sunsets, this truly was one of the most magical experiences and one of the best adventures I’ve been on. I will be telling anyone and everyone about this and showing them the incredible pictures, telling them how much they should go should they be in Dubrovnik! If (or should I say when) I return to Dubrovnik, I will defo be going back to Marco for another sunset tour!!

This was a stunning experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is visiting Dubrovnik. Our guide, Edin, was excellent. He had a great knowledge of the history of Dubrovnik and made the whole experience interesting and fun. The cave was wonderful, and swimming with the fish in crystal clear waters is something that you must try. On the way back to the city, we witnessed the glorious sunset over Dubrovnik, before paddling back to shore and enjoying some wine. Overall 10/10 experience, made possible by Edin and the X-Adventure company

We had a great time on the sunset kayaking tour. Our family of four (with two daughters aged 14 & 12) really enjoyed our guide Marco. He kept us moving and motivated during the 3 hour adventure, that included about an hour of downtime at secluded cave and rocky beaches. The kayaking was a great active workout so be prepared to put some effort in to keep pace with the group, but the views do not disappoint. Marco shared great details about the region and landmarks that we passed. He also took us to a super secluded beach that has some really adventurous and fun cliff jumps. Depending on how daring you’re feeling, you can choose between a comfortable 5 foot jump or challenge yourself to a larger, but still safe, ~16-20 ft jump. Highly recommend the excursion. Since our girls couldn’t drink the wine yet, they also gave us two extra bottles. Win all around.

What an amazing way to see Dubrovnik from the water. We all really enjoyed the kayaking. All the crew were really friendly and helpful getting us ready to go. But a special shout out to our guide Andy. He was really knowledgeable and clearly loves his job and city. We were able to enjoy the sun starting to set with a glass of wine before returning back to the city as the sun set. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Dubrovnik!

This was one of the highlights of my Dubrovnik experience! Our guide Andrew was phenomenal and did a great job keeping our group together and teaching us about the city and the surrounding islands along the way. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get outside of the craziness of Old Town. The sunset was amazing!

Eugene and Pablo were the best! I went with my fiancé and we had a terrific time. It’s a great way to see the city from the sea, have some wine, jump off a cliff if you feel like it and watch a beautiful sunset from the sea. Highly recommend

Excellent adventure and we had a fantastic experience. The view of Dubrovnik from the sea was amazing. Our guide Edin was knowledgeable and a great guide even to stop and take a photo of us both with the sunset as a backdrop. It was a bit harder than we thought it might be but we still enjoyed and completed the 9km !!

If we are a group of 3 can we get a single kayak or will we be paired with another solo traveller?
Thanks in advance
Written 29 May 2022
hello, will you issue a refund if the trip is cancelled due to weather?
Written 15 September 2021
Do you have secure storage at meeting point and is there a waterproof box on board the kayak?
Written 5 August 2019
They provide a “dry bag” that you take in the kayak with you. You could store your phone, jewelry, and a few other items. I recommend a small ziplock bag for your phone as well. If you don’t wrap the bag correctly, a little water could get in it.

We are on a cruise, so would need to be back at our shop at 10:00 pm. Is this possible?
Written 30 July 2019
The kayaking launch/wine locations are just beyond Pile Gate. We went out at 4:30 and finished wine and conversation at 8:15. You should have plenty of time to walk (20 mins) to your shop by 10:00.

Are the kayaks single or double as would prefer 2 doubles for a family of 4. Thanks
Written 11 July 2019
Hi Susan, the Kayaks are doubles so they will out you together. We had a group of 5 so one of our group shared with another local traveller. Hope this helped x

I am not a good swimmer. Can I still do this tour?
Written 17 June 2019
Of course! People often don’t like open waters but you’re equipped with a life vest and there’s always someone close by, so I wouldn’t worry
Written 18 June 2019
I don't know how to swim and I have never kayaked before. Do you provide life jackets?

Hi do you have to pre book this trip or can you pay on arrival?
Written 31 May 2019
I would suggest booking beforehand so they know how many people there will be and to avoid disappointment.
However I am not sure if you can pay on arrival.
