Montenegro is beautiful but use another Tour Company!
I don't want someone to end up in my situation so wanted to share my not so great experience with this tour group: I signed up with Deep Green Travel for this one day group trip to Montenegro from Dubrovnik. The tour company I wanted to use was fully booked (I had a great experience with them the day before to Motor/Kravice Tours was with Super Tours- which is EXCELLENT with NIKO), so I signed up for this one. I thought these tour groups were basically all the same but I was wrong. First, Deep Green Travel apparently bumped me onto another tour company's roster (Sombrero Tours?) so during pickup, I couldn't find them despite asking all the other bus tour companies that did pickups if I was on their list. After asking a woman Johanna 3x, she said I wasn't on her list, but she was wrong since my name was spelled incorrectly, so I was indeed with her tour. Let me preface that Johanna is lovely and a well meaning tour guide, however, not the best guide for English speaking group since the tour was given in both Spanish (her native language) and her English was not great for giving this type of tour. She had to read from a script the English descriptions of what we were seeing since she wasn't as familiar with the history. In regards to the bus, the Air Conditioning was NOT working so it was very hot and uncomfortable for most of the ride and the bus driver was cranky and arguing with the tour guide when folks on the bus started complaining. In regards to the bus pickups, they start earlier thatn the 7pm start time. I was picked up at 6:40 am and the bus was half full. We then had another 3 stops that took another hour so we weren't on the road for another 45 minutes or so. The border crossings were long and despite asking in advance how long it may take since i heard it could be over an hour, they did not respond. It ended up taking about 45 minutes going to Montenegro and almost 1.5 hours coming back...so instead of a 5 pm return we got back after 5:30pm. Plus for those staying in the Old City, they don't drop you back at the same location so you are dropped off about a 15-20 minute walk on a highway without clear directions. Luckily, someone knew the way in the group. So, defintely recommended going to Montenegro, but NOT with this Deep Green Travel.

Good Montenegro Tour but No Ferry
My wife and I, both in our early 60s, took a Trip Advisor Tour of Montenegro in October 2024 with Deep Green Tours. The tour was good but we were delayed 1 hour at the Montenegro border on our way in and 30 minutes on our way out. Passports are required! Perast and Kotor are beautiful Adriatic towns located in the Bay of Kotor which has towering mountains surrounding them. Like Dubrovnik, Kotor is a smaller walled ancient city with many churches, shops, and restaurants. Our tour guide Hanna was very knowledgeable and informative. The bus was very comfortable. The only major difficulty is that we paid to have a return ferry (on the water) experience and we did not get what we paid for. Our guide offered, at the last minute, to pay for the boat ride to the Island of the Lady of the Rock but wld not pay for our entry into the church (3 Euro each) so we did not accept. They should have covered the full cost. I believe Trip Advisor owes us a small refund.

      Not as advertised
Booked this tour for wine tasting and unique food. We got a restaurant meal with a house wine in a carafe. No wine tasting nor unique food. We were picked up by a "get your guide" who had no idea of the itinerary. Could have done this tour for much less and gotten my wine tasting.

Great guide, she's so very nice and came with clear instructions. The tour had a great taste to Montenegro, went to beautiful Perast and Kotor, time organisation was good, in general a great experience.

Really enjoyable trip with a kind and positive guide who knew how to keep the atmosphere lively even when we were waiting in the bus for some time. The scenery during the trip is great and the boss was also very helpful with the questions we had.

Visit Beautiful Korcula and Sample Delicious Wines North of Dubrovnik
An absolute must for anyone wanting to wind down at the end of a vacation or someone wanting something low key to do away from the crowds. On the bus ride down the coast of Dubrovnik, we visited a small town known for their salt distribution. It was a beautiful little slice of local life and we stopped by a cafe and bakery there before continuing to our boat to take the short hop across to Korcula. Korcula is an absolute joy. We went into Old Town at the top of our stop and visited the home and museums of Marco Polo. Korcula is nothing but stunning views, delicious food and gorgeous beaches. After 2 and a half hours there, we stopped for fresh, right out of the bay while we’re eating, oysters and then went wine tasting to finish the trip off. What a wonderful experience. I highly recommend. My only complaint was coordinating the pickup at the beginning of the trip. We had to take a taxi to meet a minivan that brought us to the bus. Evidently the bus did a pickup straight from the walls of Old Town. That had more to do with the TripAdvisor agency linking the trips than the actual trip coordinators.

      Amazing. Love Ivana!
Ivana is a superstar. She helped us book a day trip to Montenegro and gave clear instructions and went out of her way to ensure that we have transportation from an odd location to the meeting spot. She was so sweet and helpful when we got lost and were late to make a bus. She connected us with the tour guide so we completed the trip successfully.

      Great experience. Highly recommended
We booked this tour with Ivana, and it was amazing. We highly recommend the boat experience; although the island itself isn't particularly noteworthy, the views and the experience on board were fantastic. Kotor is definitely a must-see, and Ivana's service was unparalleled. We travelled with a toddler you can take your stroller with you!

Trip itself was definitely worthwhile doing! Kravice waterfalls are stunning and even before you see them you can hear them! Pictures with them in the background are just fab! The town of Mostar is unique and we enjoyed souvenir shopping eating and walking round. Is very cheap too compared to the prices in Dubrovnik! However there are beggars and having to pay to pee in public loos which is pretty standard in Europe anyway now. It was a long day but I knew this before we booked and that’s fine you expect it to be if you want to see another country. There was only 18 people on our trip and even though this is more intimate than larger groups it meant we were shoved on a smaller bus which was old and stunk of stale cigarette smoke as the driver at every opportunity when off the bus would have a cigarette! I wouldn’t book with deep green travel again I don’t think. I think the experience would have been different if the tour guide was different. We weren’t asked how we were feeling comfort wise which I think is very important on a long trip to check your guests are ok and comfortable. We weren’t asked if we would liked the air con on travelling so for 3 hours nearly everyone suffered. The microphone kept cutting out and the tour guide didn’t realise and was chatting away to herself. She was pleasant enough as a guide but didn’t really take into account that her guests may have been hot on the coach etc. when we stopped at the border I asked for the air con to be on as myself and others were hot and her response was ‘oh really the driver and I are ok and slightly chilly at the front’! I was not expecting this strange remark at all. However they then did put the air con on and everyone had a much pleasant trip afterwards! Border control was slow….. but to be expected I suppose. All in all a good value for money trip and glad we went. Would have preferred a larger coach and a different tour guide but would recommend the country to visit!

This is a full day and an early start, while travelling though we were entertained by Charlie who gave us a lot of local history and looked after us at the border control, the scenery is spectacular with panoramic views of sea and hill country, there was a coffee and toilet break then on to the waterfalls which were enchanting and loud there is birdlife and wild flowers as the steps lead you down , we had one hour there. We stopped off at a Mosque for a short while with street vendors selling fruit and various juices. We then got to Mostar and we were led to a popular restaurant with local wine and great fish and meat dishes and views of the old Town there was a welcome drink of the local spirit and almost a party atmosphere, we had 3 hours to shop and photograph the street had a mix of culture which I found only added to the experience then there was the Famous Jumper who dives from the old bridge landmark , the trip gets back to Dubrovnik early evening.

I have never been to Mostar before, but always wanted to go there. Ivana, who I met at the Old City Port, recommended me this trip, with some discount, if I decide on 2 tours !!! Wow! Coming from central Europe, I was truly amazed by the Bosnian culture, mixed heritage offered by Mostar. One of the most famous bridges in the world really holds the breath, but you can relax, sit with some strong coffee and look at that masterpiece! Next one was Kravice falls, very beautiful and peaceful place to visit. You can even swim, if you want and buy local goodies! Huge thanks to Hana, the guide, for making the whole group being always on time, extremely good organisation, perfect stories, being funny and witty! Hats off to the driver as well for taking us allaround different curves safe. I would reccommend the trip to everybody!

First things first I would like to thank the tour company for organizing the amazing time we have spent in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We really enjoyed or your guide in Mostar. He was very knowledgeable and fun to walk with. However, I would like to express my own and my friends frustration about our guide who accompanied us from Dubrovnik to BiH and back. I have never seen such rude behavior towards customers in my life and I know what I am talking about because I used to work at the airport. It looked like she was fed up and didn’t want to deal with no more tours and bull crap named “tourists”. We landed in Dubrovnik nearly around midnight and at 6 am next day we had our first tour. We were never notified that we needed to bring cash with us, but by pure luck we decided to take 50 euros with us. When she said said that she will collect 3 euros from everyone, I handed that lady a bill. She asked us to give her a euro so she could give us a 45 euros change. We didn’t have any. Instead of listening to us, she straight up told us that she doesn’t give a damn and she will not believe that we don’t have a euro because everyone has it and we don’t. lol 😂 seriously, at that point we were done with her. Some random people gave us a euro so she could leave us alone but my question is why a tour company would let a woman with such behavior and clear hatred towards tourist work with people?? Second question is for actual tour company: why are you not providing your tour guides with enough change knowing that you are dealing with the tourists arriving to your country nearly last minute. Or even better, why won’t you include all fees into your price??? People will still buy your services and they will be more happy with the fact they won’t have to stress searching for stupid coins.

    1. Advert says 1.5 hrs Kravice stop 1 and 3 hrs Mostar stop 2. Both stated as free time. Actually got 2.5 hrs in Mostar stop 1 with 1.5hrs being a guided tour where the guide went on for ages and made us wait to watch some guy jump from a bridge and pay to watch followed by 45 mins in Kravice where nothing was open and we were not warned so we went all day hungry. If we had used our 1 hr in Mostar we would have seen nothing.
    2. Was expecting 2hrs trip each way. We spent 8.4hrs travelling on a hot coach. 1 toilet stop in 5hrs on the way there and when arrived in Mostar forced to follow a guide for 1.5 hrs without a toilet break off the coach. Was torture.
    3. Dropped off at the bottom of a big hill and not outside the hotel as expected. A lot after such a long day, especially when we watched the coach then stop right outside our hotel and let others off!
    4. Some paid 35 euros each we paid more and were then told to pay an extra 11 euros each. Advert says 5 to 10 euros each not 11.
    5. Mostar is nice but way to many people and that's in April.
    Do NOT recommend

Dear Kerric, We are very sorry for your experience. We clearly stated how long is the trip, im sorry you expected to be there in 2 hours which is impossible. All of our guests have a tour of mostar which you dont have to participate in. Some people paid for half of the tour in advance and rest when on tour. Also we dont understand why u did exit the bus before it came to your hotel. Once again we are sorry for your experience but none of the other people which were with you on tour didnt have any problems with it.

Very very very long day on a hot bus. The same song played on the bus for almost the entire 6+ hours we spent on the bus. They don’t advertise that the bus stops at like 4 different hotels and requires a long time at the border crossing. Mostar is cool but very hot and overwhelming. The Kravice Falls are beautiful but over crowded, dirty and very commercialized. Plus, the tour only gives you an hour at the falls despite 6+ hours of travel to get there. Not a good option from Dubrovnik. There a so many better things to do just staying in Croatia.

Lots of messing about getting picked up in a mini bus to be then dropped off and put onto a coach with poor AC on a mega hot day. The drop off was even worse after a very long day and seemed to take forever. Mostar and Kravica were very commercialised, although our tour guide in
Mostar was very knowledgeable. Would I recommend it? Probably not as it's a very long day especially os most of the 12 hour day is spent on a coach.

This was the first of our bus tours from Dubrovnik and we were a bit concerned, when waiting for our bus, that we might miss it. There are a number of tours all leaving at the same time, from the same place and you need to keep your ears open for your name being called out. I really wish they would just stand with a sign! Anyway, we finally got on the right bus and headed off with Hannah as our tour guide. Hannah was very informative and set some rules, which included stay in the seat you are in for the whole trip (unless you ask to swap with someone). I didn't realise how helpful this was until I went on another tour and kept having to move the stuff I'd left in my seat, on the many times spent getting back on the bus. We had a short stop at Neum for a toilet break and coffee, then onto the border crossing which took about 90 minutes. They do take a long time and you just have to sit and wait. Sadly one of the passengers did not have the correct documentation and had to leave the tour. After quite a journey, we arrived into Mostar where we were put into the hands of local tour guide Ali. He was very funny and very interesting and entertaining. I learnt so much about Bosnia and Mostar which was great. We walked through the town and headed to the famous Stari Most bridge. Someone was preparing to leap off the bridge but we couldn't see through the crowds. Our tour guide said they only let stupid Australians jump off the bridge (nod to Hamish and Andy). The architecture of the city is very interesting and I really enjoyed this town. After about an hour, Ali left us to wander on our own, to do some shopping and to sample for local food. We enjoyed a wonderful meal and then returned to the bus to head to Kravice Waterfalls. It is a bit of steep walk down to the base of the waterfalls, but the sight from up high is amazing. I was however disappointed to see that Kravice, is just a big tourist swimming pool. There were hoardes of people splashing about, shattering my illusion of a tranquil waterfall and crystal clear lake. I suppose I was still impressed by the waterfalls themselves. It was back on the bus for the last time and the long return trip to Dubrovnik. The border crossing was again quite slow, meaning we did not get back to Dubrovnik until 20:45, having to walk the last kilometer back to where the bus collected us in the morning, as the road is one way and slow, and it would have been quicker to walk. I thought that was a bit rude of the bus tour but I was happy to be heading back to our accommodation and the possibility of dinner. Please note that Bosnia has a different mobile network and you may need to turn off data roaming or face high costs if your provider does not cover this country. Overall, along day but very interesting and lots to see. A good value tour.

Great to visit Kravice Waterfalls, had an hour and a quarter there, we went on a wet day so it was relatively quiet for August. It was just enough time to visit.
Mostar was a very interesting place to see, lots of history and character. Spent 2 hours 45 minutes there, had a 30 minute tour by a local guide then free to explore. It is very busy with tourists, lots of souvenir shops.
The day was very long, pick up was 7am and we didn’t get back to our apartment in Dubrovnik until 21:30. You get 4 hours to see Bosnia, so we spent 10 hours on a coach due to travel time, border crossings and general traffic. The overall time is not worth just 4 ours to see what you see.
An easy way to see a new country for us but I would not do it again. I’d make my own arrangements and spend longer there.

TIP: make sure to take cash. The waterfall entry is €10, also you must pay €3 each to enter Bosnia. This is all payable to the guide on the coach. It would be much easier if the tour company just added this to the total price of the trip in my opinion.

Mostar and the waterfalls were both very beautiful to see. The tour in Mostar from a local was also worth it. I thought it was a shame that we only spent 3 hours in Mostar and just under an hour at the waterfalls. The rest of the time I spent 8 hours on the bus and waited 1 hour at customs.

Unlike Dubrovnik, you can hardly use your debit card anywhere in Bosnia Herzegovina. So pay attention to that. Euros (although not the original currency) are accepted. But only cash.

Tip: watch your roaming (because not in the EU) and watch out for pickpockets.
