- HappyHVTravels0 contributionsOutstanding Cooking ClassThis was an incredible experience! The attention to details far exceeded expectations. Ms. Than Chandy arranged our ride and was helpful throughout the class. We had a lovely market tour with Mr. Bun Lengkou who is well traveled and culturally knowledgeable. We learned so much from Chef Kao Koytong and prepared four local dishes including amok to our delight. The staff was so fun, they joked among themselves and Us. We had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this class.Written 19 March 2024
- thepassportcouple0 contributionsIncredible Cooking ExperienceFrom start to finish, this class was a complete joy. Prior to booking the experience, our questions were answered by the point of contact, Teng. Teng’s communication was prompt and the scheduling was seamless. Our tuk-tuk driver was accompanied by our host for the day, Mollika, who works with the Reveal Angkor Hotel Siem Reap. Even though she is your host, she makes you feel like you have been friends for life within a few minutes. When we first met her, she was beaming with a huge smile and so excited to share information on the local area and the local market we first visited. She took us through the market, explaining the history, as well as the daily ins and outs of the market. We also learned a great deal about the ingredients we would be cooking with. Following our visit to the market, we headed to the hotel where our cooking class was set up with a beautiful spread of food and our awesome teacher, Chef Chanreah. They kindly allowed us a moment to take it all in, snap some photos, and showed us the quaint garden where some of the ingredients are grown. They provided us with a refreshing glass of water and assembled us in our very own Chef’s hat and apron. Lyha, another kind soul, explained the dishes we were about to prepare and we were off. Chef Chanreah was so patient and kind while showing us all of the proper techniques with which to prepare the dishes. Mollika was there the entire time to help translate and give us more history and information on the food we were preparing. Mollika even told us that the Beef Lok Lak, a traditional Khmer dish, is often prepared by parents for their children as an expression of love for them. Alicia and I looked at each other and jokingly noted that our parents had never cooked it for us. All in all, we prepared Chicken Banana Salad, Beef Lok Lak, Fish Amok, and a Banana Delight dessert. Once we completed the dishes, they sat us down at a beautifully set table and allowed us to enjoy our creations. Upon finishing our four-course meal, we were stuffed and completely satisfied. Just when we thought we were done, Mollika and Lyha presented us with our certificates of completion AND the recipes and ingredients for everything we had made. It was a great touch and a memory we are sure to hold on to. We then left the hotel and made our way back to our accommodations and couldn’t stop talking about the experience the entire way home. The day after our class, Teng followed up again to make sure we had a wonderful time. We most certainly did!Written 17 March 2020

- N8976XYcarolinem0 contributionsHighly recommend this cooking classI signed up for this cooking class on one of the last days I was in Siem Reap and I must say it was a very pleasant experience. I was the only one who signed up (yeah, right, but who signs up for a cooking class at night??) so I had a 1 2 1 session with Chan Sovanlida, the cook. The cooking class was held in the Reveal Angkor hotel and 15' before its start I was picked up by Tuk Tuk from my hotel by Monica. Our first stop was the local market, where Monica showed and explained me what ingredients we need to cook. On arrival in the hotel I was welcomed by Chan and Roath, both also employees from the Reveal Angkor Hotel. I was offered water to drink and a place to leave my stuff. Chan, the cook, showed me how to prepare banana salad with chicken, beef Lok Lak (my favourite!), Khmer Soup and banana delight. I was so surprised and proud of myself that I have been able to cook this lush food! After the cooking class you can eat your food. Afterwards I was dropped of to my hotel, again by Tuk Tuk. The ride to and from the hotel was not included in the price ($ 4 in total), the drinking water (during dinner) was not included either ($ 3 in total) It was quite a pleasant experience as the cook didn't speak English but somehow we did manage to communicate with each other. I have done many cooking courses in Asia and I must say this one was a very nice one too! A certificate is given afterwards plus the explanation on how to do this at home! It lasted about 90'in total but again, I was on my own which I don't regret at all! I would recommend this as Cambodia has such a nice cuisine we have to take it home! Thanks again lovely people xWritten 24 October 2019

- luckywife180 contributionsA must do for foodiesWe felt very special from the moment that we were picked by the Chef herself as well as the Operations Manager of Reveal Angkor who explained to us our activity for the day.We were led to the local market where they showed us the local produce and ingredients that they use for Khmer cooking. The market was insteresting and we were impressed by the freshness of the vegetables and fruits that they have. After that ee went to the hotel where 2 chefs assisted us with the cooking in an acceptable phase. We cooked for dishes and each one tasted great. Our 4 year old son was with us but they made sure that he was being looked after while we were doing the activity. After that we received certificates as proof that we finished the course. We were also served the dishes that we cooked and enjoyed it very much.A recommended activity for anyone who loves food!Written 28 May 2019
