Don't miss out on a great Cambodia experienceIf you are reading this review - like me - before booking a cooking class in Cambodia, Siem Reap, you are scrolling through the many cooking classes on offer in Cambodia to get the best one. ! My advice is forget the rest, and try this cooking class. It is harder for find authentic experiences as a tourist these days. But this is definitely an authentic and fun experience in Cambodia especially, visiting the local market beforehand. Not only that you know that the money you spend on the cooking class is going to a grass roots business in Cambodia - which is really important. As a family this was a highlight of our trip. The cooking environment was safe and clean aswell which is important. Enjoy.!Written 23 January 2025
- alicejhtan0 contributionsDelicious cookery experience! We loved this activity! Sophia is so kind and helpful, Chef Prai is an awesome cook, and the the other guests were friendly. We learnt how to make three delicious recipes so lunch was a feast! Logistics and comms were clear and easy. Highly recommend a morning spent in this way.Written 20 January 2025
- risag780 contributionsA lovely experience! Learned a lot and the food is delicious! This is a lovely experience! We met Sophia, our cooking leader, at the Siem Reap open air market and she took us on a walking tour of the stalls and showed us the vegetables, herbs and fruits of the region and bought some of the ingredients for the meal we would be making. Back at the open air cooking studio we were introduced to the chef who demonstrated each course before we made it. Each of us had our own station with knife, cutting board, mortar and pestle and burner and all the ingredients laid out on waiting boards. We pounded, sliced, diced and rolled our way through chicken curry, spring rolls and bananas in palm sugar, then sat down and enjoyed the results in a pleasant outdoor shady dining pavilion by a turtle pond. A complementary cookbook was included.Written 17 January 2025
- 854sd998d45375c3446e0 contributionsGreat cooking classThis was a really fun experience. I enjoyed the tour around the market as our guide gathered the various ingredients for our class. The guide as well as her chef were very engaging and professional. We prepared 3 items from scratch: chicken curry, spring rolls and a banana dessert. Getting to eat our creations was delicious. I really recommend this tour.Written 17 January 2025
- T9292TAjohnl0 contributionsAn Awesome Experience! My daughters (17 years & 12 yeats) and I booked this cooking class before we travelled from Australia. It is on our highlight lost for Siem Reap. My youngest was a bit nervous about cooking but our host/guide Sophya and our chef/teacher Preya soon put those nerves to rest. The tour of the market with Sophya was very interesting and informative. After we grabbed some ingredients we went to the beautiful village where our cooking stations, utensils and ingredients were set out in an idyllic location right beside a small lake. We made rice paper rolls, chicken curry and bananas in palm sugar. Absolutely perfect flavours and great instruction from Preya and Sophya. We are our creations in a small pavillion right by the lake. It was really fun and the girls and I learned a lot. Sophya & Preya are both very kind and helpful and took great care of us. Our family highly recommends this tour, a really great experience.Written 10 January 2025
- sd998d45375c344620250 contributionsGreat Cooking ClassI was the only person booked for the class on the day but I was treated very well. Sophia took me on a great local market tour to point out a lot of the produce native to Cambodia used in cooking. The cooking class was conducted by Prey who was equally friendly and enthusiastic. The facilities and class are very organised and professional. I got to enjoy a relaxing 3 course that I made beside a serene river setting. Really couldn’t recommend this class more to fellow visitors to Siem Reap. Thank you again Sophia and Prey for putting so much effort into the class even when I was the only person there. I will always remember the experience.Written 7 January 2025
- ivonaa20200 contributionsWe already tried it at home and it was delicious! We loved the setting, its quiet, at the pond with lots of greenery. Our option was vegetarian and we totally enjoyed it, it was a great introduction to Cambodian cuisine. We visited the market before and it was also very educational.Written 7 October 2024

- Lucia N0 contributionsFun cooking class with lovely peopleMy boyfriend and I booked the cooking class and both of us were satisfied with the whole experience. First we went to the market and got some stuff. After a short ride with a tuktuk, we arrived at a pretty scenic place. While cooking, we had a nice view at the small lake right next to the building. The staff has been lovely and fun to talk to, and the time passed so fast. The food we did was amazing, and you get a cooking book to take home with even more recipes to try. Loved every minute there. Thank you so much!Written 2 October 2024

- 190phillipf0 contributionsFantastic experienceWe’ve been traveling for a couple of weeks in Southeast Asia, and this was one of the best tours that we did. The two hosts were delightful, and the food that we cooked was probably one of the best meals that we had. And our two teenage daughters loved it as well. We highly recommended!Written 16 June 2024

Fantastic experience! I was the only guest on the day that I went and I didn't mind at all. The chef and my host were friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. I enjoyed learning how to make the desserts that I have eaten before and I was able to share the sweets that I made with the staff of my organization. I made ginger custard, coconut tuiles, and sticky rice flour balls with palm sugar. I highly recommend Beyond Unique Escapes if you want a change of pace from visiting temples and shopping.

This experience was beyond our expectations! The tour of the market was amazing, we were introduced to every kind of vegetable and herb, and our tour guide was just amazing! Spoke very good english and knew a lot about the food of the market. After we went to a beautiful place away from the busy streat to cook 3 meals. We were introduced to the chef who taught us a lot of new things. The cooking was amazing, it was so much fun with the 2 ladies that gave the cooking class. After the cooking class we had a little bit of time to eat, relax and enjoy the view over a small pond. We recommend this experience to everyone that is visiting Siem Reap for sure! Thank you so much for everything! Pim & Ellen

This class was fantastic. I enjoyed learning about the food and learning to cook the dishes. Of course, the best part was tasting everything.
