About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Flyer6397280 contributionsGreat trip!Excellent guide, Luis, who gave us a lot of interesting information and was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We also had time for a visit to the museum telling the story of the first settlement at Tierra del Fuego and the genocide of the Selk Nam people.Written 1 December 2024
- Lily J0 contributionsAmazing experience with this company! Highly recommend our guides and this hike to anyone.Ricardo & Hugo were the best guides we could have asked for! They were knowledgeable, kind, adaptive for everyone in the group and really helped us see a glimpse into Chilean culture. They set a great pace that was manageable for all parties and checked in on everyone physically many times throughout the hike. Would HIGHLY recommend people to use this company & even request Ricardo and Hugo. The excursion was appropriately priced, there was good communication before pickup, and our guides had great energy. Such a fun day!Written 16 November 2024
- davidnW5925QU0 contributionsA long day out to spend time with these amazing animalsAn excellent day out made even better by Luis, an awesome guide who explains everything in both English and Spanish. Very knowledgeable about the history of the area which is interesting and makes the long van rides more bearable. Expect a long day of upto 14 hours. You spend about 45 minutes with the penguins. You will need a good camera to take photos otherwise just enjoy the time with these amazing animals.Written 15 November 2024
- Escape483732490260 contributionsWorth every pennyIt was a pleasant experience all around with my family. There was enough time on the island with the penguins, and you got to see them up close. They even crossed the path in front of you!Written 12 November 2024
- CSTMaryland0 contributionsPenguis Galore and More!!This was an amazing trip. Luis was a wonderful guide. Prior to the tour, the company communicates hotel pick up. The morning of, Luis calls or sends a WhatsApp message, informing you the bus is on the way. They were prompt. Luis provided all explanations in English and Spanish. The lunch was lovely and the penguin colony was fantastic. Surely not to be missed. I also enjoyed our other stops to see guanacos, thr native peoples, the ship wreck and learning about Patagonia ownership history and much more. Don't hesitate to take this trip. Its a long day but it definitely didn't feel long. Oh and bring snacks. There are opportunities to purchase along the way. But have some just in case you're extra hungry.Written 10 November 2024
- PSCAustin0 contributionsConfiscations of Purchases after Security CheckDeparting Santiago Chile SCL airport was highly disagreeable. Aside from having our passport and boarding pass checked five separate times, we underwent a confiscation never experienced in years of worldwide travel. After passing through security, we stopped by the large store Britt Chile to spend our remaining Chilean pesos. We purchased 2 Pisco Capel Sour 14% 700 cc bottles and went to the gate for our Latam/Delta flight to LAX. After our boarding passes were scanned, we proceeded down the jet bridge where Latam employees made each passenger open their carry-ons. At that point, they confiscated the two bottles I had purchased just a half hour earlier, claiming US regulations required all bottles to be in a sealed bag with a receipt. I showed the receipt from the just purchased items, to no avail. Other passengers had their water and soft drinks confiscated. The confiscated items were filling up a shelf on the walkway. Latam and SCL airport management are delinquent in (a) allowing vendors to sell liquids after security clearance, (b) failing to provide sealed bags for all liquids (c) using poor judgment in penalizing passengers for not posting a sign after security "If traveling internationally, DO NOT BUY ANY LIQUIDS." Until resolved, this experience should put Latam and the SCL Airport on all travelers’ Do Not Fly list.Written 3 November 2024
- 131annerw0 contributionsBest day everThis was an absolutely wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it. The weather was cold and windy but we were warm on the boat and the sun warmed us on our walk to the lighthouse. The penguins were so over the top cute. We only saw the males because of the season but they were precious. The tour company was great - it was an easy meet-up and the guide spoke Spanish and English. Everyone was friendly and wanted you to have the best time. Oh! And the sea lion colony was a sight to see too! Definitely book this experience.Written 15 October 2024
- Eugia M0 contributionsWine Lover’s DreamThe tour guide, Rene, was affable and knowledgeable about the history of Chile and the native people. Between visits to wineries, we especially enjoyed the trip to the museum, which is a treasure the larger population may miss because of its location 3 hours south of the largest city, Santiago. The wineries were magnificent in their ambience and character, while the tastings were enough to justify Chile’s position as a tour de force in winemaking!Written 3 July 2024
- V6895TTsusanl0 contributionsGreat all around tripThe driver and guide were brilliant- professional but friendly and extremely knowledgeable. We saw so much and photo opportunities were great. Perfect bi-lingual explanations. Thanks to Paola.Written 18 March 2024
- Global7582040 contributionsMoai and so much moreThis was a very special experience. The moai were powerful and the opportunities to see and experience the culture were exceptional. The Kari Kari dance troupe was NOT a gentle hula. It was an athletic, artistic performance that was presented with a genuine warmth. In every way we felt welcomed to this island and left feeling enriched. The museum has a well presented collection that was a great place to start as we began our time on Rapa Nui. It provided valuable information and context for the people and culture on the island.Written 3 March 2024
- uncvcutraveller0 contributionsOkay experienceI went with a group for the tour. The second stop was the tastings. The wines were good but the ones I like require to store for 11 to 15 years. We also did not try the best wines that included the diablo portion. I did like the origins of the diablo. This should have occurred before doing wine tasting.Written 22 February 2024
- Dave L0 contributionsBest tour ever.Collected at the hotel by nelson our guide. Great English speaker and a native of the island. Very knowledgeable and very passionate about the beautiful island of rapa nui and it's culture. Had an amazing dinner which is included in the price and ended the day on the beautiful anakena beachWritten 14 February 2024
- R1175LSlindseym0 contributionsGreat tour, longer than anticipatedThis was a great tour, we were so lucky with the weather and the ride was very smooth. We got to see dolphins and whales on the way to the island and then penguins and birds when we arrived. Next we went to another island and listened and watched the sea lions (very noisy) and saw tons of cormorons! The only thing to be careful about is the time, we expected to be done around 11 am since the meeting point was 6:30 am and the estimate was 4.5 hours, but we didn’t get done until 12:30 pm. It was great to have the extra time, but just plan carefully if you are on a tight schedule.Written 11 February 2024
- kirati90 contributionsBest vineyard in SantiagoThis is the best vineyard in Santiago. We are English speakers. There are only 4 premium (70 minutes and 3 wine tasting sessions) English tours a day. Email them for time slots as it may change. Tips: book with the winery directly and use Uber to get there. It is both cheaper and time efficient. You use up most of your 4 hours on travelling by coach if you use agency as they will need to pick up guests from different parts of the city.Written 29 December 2023
- nauj630 contributionsTough ? Yes. Worth it ? No doubts !“The average hike length is 8 hours but I’ve had many trips that have been over 11” ; the somewhat ‘menacing’, certainly ‘sobering’ words of my Guide Valentina, as we prepared for the ‘off’. Looking up, I could feel the acute angle of my neck ! I’d been told - warned - that this officially categorised ‘challenging’ activity had within it 3 phases, the first being an ascent taking circa 90 minutes. An aerobic workout that definitely tested. And replenishing water bottles from the gushing rivers/falls was as necessary as it was a relief. Phase 2 - through the forest - was easier, albeit each ‘down’ was met with the next ‘up’. The occasional returning hiker’s telling grin - in sync with a recurring ‘keep going’ salutation - was commensurate with a presumed sense of descending joy ! The 3rd and final ‘stretch’ was arguably the hardest. You’re 10Km ‘in’ at this stage and ahead of you is a last 1Km that takes a good 50 minutes to complete. You’re clambering over uneven rocks & small boulders, all the time ascending. You sweat. You ache. You occasionally entertain the odd expletive. This is arguably as much a mental resilience issue as it is physical. Then…there ‘they’ reveal themselves ! South, Central & North, alongside Condors Nest. Magnificent ! Dramatic. Imposing. ‘Mighty’ ! Beautiful too. And all of this with the tranquility of a shimmering lake in the foreground. Any hint of negativity dissipates, all doubts are forgotten. Because no doubt - it’s worth it ! ‘That’ sight before you impacts…and with it, there’s a powerful sense of achievement. Memorable. And being one of the first to reach the destination brought privilege, in that there was a discernible peace about the environment, that later - after eating our lunch - had been replaced with lots of busyness and queuing for the best photo opportunity. Don’t be lulled into a false belief that the return to base is straightforward. Occasionally slipping & sliding on the rocks in the first phase, equates to a need for a more minded purpose of footing. Hiking protocol dictates that you give way to Ascenders. For each ‘down’ there continues to be an ‘up’…right to the end. But Vally telling me ‘You’re the real deal Hiker JP’ at the end of 7 hours, 20 minutes was a moment of magical affirmation.Written 20 December 2023

Nowhere does it say the boat is a converted ferry with hundreds of people. There is little space outside the inside cabins to view, and the walkways are narrow. So basically it's sitting inside for over an hour each way. The hike to the glacier was fun, a moderate hike. Afterwards there was no lunch as advertised, as the busses aren't specific as to where they are going...

There are hundreds of tour operators, but you can book directly with the navigation operator, Turismo21deMayo.com -- the catamaran is comfortable but it was crowded and had some screaming children that detracted from the experience. The walk in O'Higgins park was precious. It made me want to hike more in this unexplored and undeveloped national treasure where the forests and lakes are still pristine, not to mention GLACIERS! The boat also gets up close and personal with an enormous waterfall--so you get splashed with cold water if you want to.

Nice trip. Beautiful glaciers and we got to see Andean Condors. The guide was difficult to hear over the intercoms and on the walk to the glacier base. Overall, it was worthwhile

While the tour was well organized and professional, I found myself having buyer’s remorse. This is overall a highly inactive tour and you’re stuck on the boat during most of it besides the hour hike to see the Serrano Glacier and the lunch at the Estancia. Also, there was a really rowdy crowd that the crew did nothing to contain their behavior for the sake of other passengers. We were subjected to having to yell to have a conversation to overcome their loudness.
Personally, I wished I had chosen to go to Perito Moreno or another day in Torres Del Paine over this.

Obrigada
Aguardo o seu retorno
