          The worst tour company ever
Do not use this company. With a confirmed booking back in November our private tour for 4 people was a nightmare. I was forced to make another down payment of 50 USD to ensure the tour, according to Austral Tours Patagonia. We were met at the cruise terminal, only to learn that the guide was actually a driver who had instructions to collect more people at a later time and a different spot. When speaking to someone at head office I was accused for not paying. We had to fight to get our deposit back and were dropped on a side walk. My brother-in-law, who is 84 years old, needs a cane to walk. This experience in Chile left the worst impression. How can a company like this represent their country? They should be ashamed of themselves and perhaps work with animals instead of humans.

          Do not use this Company
Dealings with this company were spasmodic, but I thought all would be okay closer to the day of our tour. A few weeks before our tour, I emailed to asked if payment was to be in USD or Chilean pesos only to be advised that the price, first negotiated, had increased by 12.5%. Once again, gave the company representative "Ana" the benefit of doubt, and agreed to pay increased amount and in Chilean pesos. I then received an email that stated “A person would be at the pier with your name on a placard at 9:00 am, i know you arrive in the Emerald Princess ship, i'll figure out which is the pier where you dock.” There was no-one at the pier to meet us! We did not have any contact with Ana, or a representative of the company for not being at the pier, as advised. This was totally unacceptable. We, together with other tour guides waiting in the arrival area of the cruise terminal, tried to ring Ana, but the call went through to her message back. We have not had any follow up contact from her whatsoever! The inconvenience this Company caused us was not a good start to our day in Punta Arenas. Go else where!

My original activity was cancelled due to weather and this was a plan B, I actually did the Faro trekking not the fort. But for the price $54 it was really not worth it. I am from California and the walk along the beach should be free, so I felt a little jaded. If it was $20 pp I may have felt better about it, there were plenty of passengers on the shuttle so they could still make a profit. It was cold, wet and windy, the sights are very nice but nothing mind blowing, once you get to the end you take a picture and make your way back through rocks and sand, it is a good workout and there is plenty of resistance and the out and back is about 6.5 miles.
