- Sinead C0 contributionsFabulous Trip, Well Worth It!Collected promptly at 8am. Driver Mr. Yang was very courteous and professional all day. Car was super comfortable. Our guide Lucy was friendly, incredibly informative and so willing to share her encyclopaedic knowledge. She took into consideration our needs and wants at all times during the trip. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide, she is excellent at her job.Written 12 November 2024

Highly recommended for those of you who would like to dive a little deeper into the rich history, culture and traditions of Beijing/China. Would gladly use again upon future visits to China :)Written 10 December 2019
- Ellie R0 contributionsGreat day!Had an amazing day thanks to Sarah! We did everything in the itinerary all in good time, sarah would take photos and give loads of information about were we visited. Well worth the money as everything is sorted for you and she knows exactly we’re to go! Great opportunity for a day in Beijing!Written 19 September 2019
- KimInterviewer0 contributionsExceeded all my hopes and dreams, which were quite high!I had just one day in Beijing where I was not working and I wanted to see the top attractions with a guide who could maximize what I got out of a single day. I also wanted to be sure that the tour was legit and that I would be safe because I was traveling alone (American female) in China on a week when the US had done some things that made the Chinese very hateful toward Americans. My tour with China Sunny Tour was a wonderful bright spot and a day that I will never forget - exceeding all my hopes and dreams for the experience. Sarah is the best guide I have experienced, in travel on 5 continents over a couple of decades. She organized a day, with my input, that enabled me to divide up our day with emphasis on the areas I had the most interest and then she led us through it perfectly. She gave me several choices of what order to do things in, what type of lunch to have, which direction to walk on the Wall, how far/long to walk on the Wall, etc. She had advice to offer as well. She was willing to start earlier than the described time to help avoid heat and crowds. Apparently the crowds at The Wall have increased recently, although by going early we were able to have an uncrowded experience even though it was Saturday. I will also say that the crowds at Forbidden City (late in the day) were virtually non-existent as well. I have so many pictures that have literally no one else in them - from both The Great Wall and from Forbidden City. The car was cool, clean, and comfortable and I enjoyed learning a tremendous amount from Sarah along the drive. So much better than a bus tour with a guide with a microphone!!! Sarah is so knowledgeable, personable, interesting, and in fact at the end of the day I felt like I now have a personal friend in China. While I was with her, moving through Mutianyu and Beijing, I felt very safe and did not experience the open hostility that I experienced from the Chinese during the rest of my multi-week stay in Asia. Sarah brought joy and insulation from any outside negativity. Sarah frequently volunteered to take pictures of me (and of course would take any additional ones I requested), and her photos came out great - she knew all the best angles and locations. At Tian'anmen Square and Forbidden City, Sarah helped bypass lines to make the most of our time, and took me directly to the most interesting sections and told me wonderful stories and details that were not available to me in my previous research. I will literally never forget this trip. Sarah made this once-in-a-lifetime trip ideal. There is literally nothing I would change. Do not hesitate for a minute, or feel like you need to look for other options - this is the perfect way to see these highlights of Beijing and surrounds.Written 29 May 2019
- madiirenee0 contributionsAn unforgettable first day in BeijingSarah made my first day in Beijing a wonderful day that I will always remember. If I ever return to to Beijing (which I hope I will!) I will be booking a tour in with her straight away. She is warm, friendly, speaks excellent English and could answer all my questions, which is just one example of her extensive knowledge of Beijing and Chinese culture. My flight into Beijing was delayed by 4.5 hours (and I was doing the tour upon landing in Beijing). I txt and emailed Sarah and she was incredibly responsive and we planned to still do the tour, but cut out the Great Wall due to time constraints. Sarah picked me up from the hotel on time and arranged a driver with a very clean car. She took me to have lunch before sightseeing since I had just stepped off a plane. We went to a local place where she ordered for me taking into account my dietary requirements (gluten free). After a delicious and authentic lunch, we walked to Tian’anmen square (5 minutes). After walking through the square, we approached the Forbidden City and went inside. Since Sarah is a licensed tour guide, we could skip the lines for tickets and at security, making for a much more relaxed experience. It is hard to put the Forbidden City into words, but as Sarah said, it is important to see and do well, because it is such a pivotal point in Chinese culture. It was stunning and Sarah answered all my questions very well. She also knows all the good spots for a photo and will take them for you. My favourite parts of the Forbidden City were down the back: the living quarters for the concubines, while less grand than the front - it feels more like a village, and the imperial garden - I loved its use of rock and coral. Sarah took me a to beautiful museum shop in the garden too. After waking through the square and spending 3 hours in the Forbidden City (which is the size of a city, so don’t rush it!) I feel I have had the most exciting and stunning introduction to Chinese culture and history. And that is due to Sarah’s desire to give a tour with integrity. She does not rush through the sites and treats them with respect. The Forbidden City was not very crowded at all and we could move around easily, due to it being winter, which made it more magical - just wrap up warm! In summary, the tour is magical. Sarah is the best tour guide I’ve ever had and I will always remember my time with her!Written 9 December 2018
- SMR19860 contributionsTwo Private One-Day Tours from BeijingWe took two single-day private tours with China Sunny Tours while in Beijing recently. Sarah Zheng, the proprietor, was unavailable for the first tour of The Temple of Heaven, The Forbidden City and The Summer Palace but Jenny, our guide provided a great tour. She was very knowledgeable and friendly and clearly explained the history and context of the various locations. Before heading to the Summer Palace for the afternoon, we had a delicious lunch near one of the Hutong districts at a restaurant famed for its dumplings. They were, as promised, delicious. At each location, our driver was waiting to whisk us away to the next site and Jenny arranged all the tickets. The Summer Palace was amazing, particularly the Long Corridor – over 700m in length with beautiful paintings along the way every 5m or so. We learnt a lot about the life and reign of the Dragon Lady Empress Dowager, CiXi, her manipulation of two child emperors and disposal of numerous of those who threatened her power. It is hard to believe that she only died in 1908. Two days later we took a fantastic tour with Sarah to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs which began and ended with the two-hour drive from and to Beijing. Sarah’s knowledge of the history of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties is amazing. After ascending to the wall by chairlift we walked backwards from Tower 6 to Tower 3, a less crowded section of the wall. Views were amazing with autumn leaves and spider web-like bare branched trees giving the impression of rising mist in the mid-morning while the sun was still low in the sky. We then walked from Towers 6 to 10 for spectacular views to the west and with the sun behind us it made for great photographs. Again, Sarah provided an excellent commentary. We forwent the toboggan route down and returned on the more peaceful and scenic chairlift to our waiting driver. We then checked out the jade shop below the lunch restaurant where Anna gave us detailed information on the craft of jade carving. Lunch was a delicious buffet with spectacular northerly views though long windows of the wall along the ridge line. After lunch we drove through the mountains to the west to the site of the Ming Tombs visiting the underground tomb of the 13th Ming emperor and the Sacred Road with its stone animal and human guardians lining the way towards the tomb site for the emperors’ coffins. This latter site was an extra - our tour was supposed to include one of three sites at the Ming Tombs but Sarah included the Sacred Road as well at no extra charge and it was well worth the stop. We can’t say enough in praise of Sarah’s knowledge, friendliness and patience. We will be looking out for her tours again the next time we are in China. Thank you so much Sarah and Jenny.Written 4 November 2018
- Melissa S0 contributionsHighly recommend!!Sarah from sunny tours was fantastic, she organised a two day tour of Beijing for my family inc private transportation in a very clean and well kept mini van, food and tours to the forbidden city, bell tower and drum tower, visit to the traditional hutong area by rickshaws, Lama temple, Beijing zoo, Great Wall and summer palace. Sarah goes above and beyond to make sure everyone enjoys her tours, her English is very clear and there is no hidden shopping on Sarah’s tours. I would highly recommend Sarah to everyone traveling to China.Written 31 July 2018
- Charles M0 contributionsGreat personalized tourSarah was very helpful. She answered my many email questions very promptly and patiently. We agreed on an itinerary based on what we were interested in: Great Wall, Changling and Spirit Way. Reasonable price, no surprise “shopping” stops. She also arranged our airport transfers, much more convenient than the airport taxi stand. Informative tour. Stopped whenever we needed to catch our breath climbing the wall. Sarah and my wife had a lot in common and chatted all day. She also got us to the Great Wall early enough to miss peak crowds. I got a photo on the wall with no people in it and that doesn’t happen if you take the big bus tours.Written 22 July 2018

- rannveigdrengstig0 contributionsBest guide experience ever!!We (Norwegian family of 4) had the pleasure of having Sarah as our guide on our trip to Beijing in November 2016. From beginning to end this was an amazing trip, and Sarah did a fantastic job taking us to all the must-see attractions of Beijing, and then some more! She is highly knowledgeable and knows everything about China and Beijing culture and history, and in addition she is super nice and service minded. This goes way beyond any previous guiding experiences we have had in the past, and we can fully recommend Sarah if you want to have the most out of your time in Beijing! Thank you so much Sarah for 2 great days of experiencing Beijing!Written 22 November 2016
