Your tour starts with hotel pickup in Datong in the morning for your visit to Hengshan Hanging Temple, aka Hanging Monastery, located about 1.5 hours away.
Known for the unique feature of being built in honor of Sakyamuni, Laozi, and Confucius, the founders of Buddism, Taoism, and Confucianism, the monastery dates back more than 1,400 years to the Northern Wei period. You can spend time marveling at the architecture of the wooden structure being built into rocks along the outcrops of a cliff.
Next visit a restaurant for lunch before continuing your tour to your second destination, Ying Xian Wooden Pagoda. Dating back to 1056 during the Liao dynasty, the pagoda is one of the oldest surviving wooden pagodas in the world. Still standing through seven major earthquakes, the 9-story structure was built without any nails.
Your tour then ends with return to Datong for hotel drop-off.
