Cooking for the family 5 out of 5
A fabulous family activity. We took our 13, 11 and 10 years kids for the 5pm cooking class. The market visit to start with was informative and interesting. The class is structured perfectly to keep everyone engaged. Lance is a great guide. Would recommend this to anyone visitor area.

A wonderful experience for the whole family!
We attended the cooking class as a family (parents + teenager boy). We can say that this was one of our highlights on our 14 day trip to China. Our guide Lance picked us up on time at the agreed meeting point. We then walked around a local market together. We particularly liked the many goods on offer. Lance went to a lot of effort to explain everything to us, as many foods and dishes were completely unfamiliar to us. Then it was time to cook. We really had a lot of fun and laughed a lot. It's really harder than we thought ! Of course, you get the recipe and the list of ingredients and we have already cooked the buns at home. Thank you very much for this wonderful day and best wishes from Berlin!

A very fun and delicious afternoon
I had the pleasure of having Lance meet me at the metro station this afternoon. After taking me through the local market, we enjoyed some tea, and then got into cooking! I really enjoyed the whole trip, and being able to cook some authentic dishes, and then enjoy them afterwards is really worth the time. It was only made better by the fact that Lance is a very personable and friendly person, whom I enjoyed chatting with over the food we cooked at the end. Recommended to everyone, even if you aren't an amateur chef, the process let's you appreciate the Chinese food you enjoy during your travels through the country that much more.

          Informative, fun and delicious!
Booked this for my girlfriend and I on our first day in Chengdu. It was such a fun way to experience the city and food culture, Jerry was really informative and friendly. We had a great time cooking all of the dishes (which were delicious) with the chef and Jerry’s help and learnt a lot - would recommend to anyone visiting Chengdu!

Very educational and enjoyable experience. Perfect half day activity for adults wanting to learn more about the food culture in Chengdu and have a go at making some of it themselves!

I finally learnt how to cook real Sichuan dishes!
The most traditional Chinese Sichuan dishes in one morning. I enjoyed so much the visit to the market. Jerry is a super friendly and caring guide. He explained us everything about the products in the market. Besides he speaks wonderful English. Later at the kitchen he took care of everything, even the cleaning!!! After some cooking classes before in China I finally learn because Jerry told us the English names of every ingredients so we could find them at home Chinese shops. That was perfect! If you come to Chengdu I strongly recommend this class!

What an incredible experience. We learnt so much about Chinese cooking and local culture. Lance was so warm and hospitable. The food was delicious, and we were full of pride having prepared it ourselves. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to dig deeper into sichuan cuisine!

          A German in Chengdu
What an experience! As a solo traveller in China this is all you can hope for: A knowledgeable guide, who has a true passion for food and cultural exchange. Lance did not only show me how to cook authentic Sichuanese dishes, but also helped me to buy some specialities from the local market and he taught me about everyday life in Chengdu. I had a wonderful time that felt more like dinner with a friend than your usual bland cooking class. Thank you Lance and everyone at Chilli Cool Kitchen!

          Once in a Lifetime Experience!
We've never taken a cooking class before, but my Mom and I had so much fun! First we explored the vegetable and wet market and picked up a few things. Lance was amazing! He explained every ingredient we didn't recognize and taught us a lot of culture and history along the way. He also bought a few pieces of anything we wanted to try which was really nice. Then we went to the spice market and I picked up some rare spices for myself to take home. After our tea and snack break, we got to cooking. Our chef was a pro but made it very accessible for us. I learned a lot about ingredients and technique that makes me appreciate Sichuan cuisine so much more! If you want to escape the crowds and typical touristy stuff, then definitely give this a try. You won't regret it!

Glimpse of eating like a Chengdu local
My girlfriend and I were greeted by Jerry who took us on a tour of the local market. Jerry was very knowledgeable and explained many of the vegetables and spices we were seeing as well as the rich culinary history in Chengdu. After the tour, we had tea and began the cooking class where we made 3 different dishes. The food turned out delicious. I would recommend this tour for anyone looking to learn more about local cuisine and want to gain a locals perspective in Chengdu. Instructions were very clear for an English speaker and we had no troubles communicating

          BEST EXPERIENCE!!!
One of the coolest experiences ever! Lance and Jerry were amazing. We had such a fun time going to the market & learning more about Chinese culture. Our cooking instructor was incredible. The dishes were delicious and it felt so good to actually eat the dishes we made ourselves. Highly recommend this group to everyone!

Really recommended - fun, educational, delicious
This was a terrific experience - our guide Jerry was so warm and friendly and the time flew by - one of the best things we did in Chengdu! The market was very interesting and we learned a lot from our guide's explanation and were able to try different foods that we hadn't tried before. The Chili Cool space is well-decorated and very clean. We had a little tea break before going into the kitchen. Learning to prepare the buns was fun (even though neither one of us was particularly good at it, there's real artistry involved ;)) and the chef showed us how different sauces were made as well as how other ingredients were prepared. At the end, we also enjoyed eating the buns and talking with our guide and other guests. This was relaxed, fun, and educational - really recommend Chili Cool.

          Amazing cooking experience
We were having a private cooking class and it was amazing. First we visited a local market and learned a lot about different fruits, vegetables, meat and spices. Our guide Lance happily answered us every question that we had & we bought some spices for ourselves and some fresh ingredients for the cooking class. We cooked together with a chef & Lance translated the steps to do while cooking. The cooking experience was fantastic & we can‘t wait to recreate the dishes at home. If you are in Chengdu i can highly recommend taking a cooking class with them.

          Excellent tea experience
The tea market tour was an amazing experience! In the tea shops we visited, we were welcomed very hospitably, were served different types of tea and explained the origin of the tea, brewing method and drinking culture. Finally, we were shown a huge shop selling Chinese ceramics. The guide was extremely helpful, very kind and gave us an incredible amount of information and was very patient, taking a lot of time and adjusting to our tea needs. Highly recommended!
