What to expect
After hotel pickup in Cartagena, venture to the marina and board your stylish sea vessel. Set sail over the shimmering sea to the idyllic Rosario Islands, an attractive archipelago favored by Colombian locals and tourists alike; declared a protected national park in 1977, the protected waters teem with troves of tropical fish. Continue to cruise over the water and stop at a specific island which is completely private. Jump from the boat into the crystal clear Caribbean waters below, swimming and splashing in some of the clearest and cleanest water in the world. Sink your toes into the silken sands as you enjoy the refreshing shade of a palm tree, listening to the gentle lapping of the waves. Enjoy a delicious lunch that will complete this trip. The food will always be fresh and the fish will be caught on same day. Before returning to your boat for the sail back to Cartagena feel free to use the kayaks, hammocks, and even take a dive to do some snorkeling (optional at own expense). Watch the sun sink into the shimmering sea before finishing your tour with magical memories.

Worse than awful!
Nov 2019
To say this trip was awful is being nice! This trip was worse than awful. I have to agree with another review below which said that the boat ride was hilariously dangerous. It was a speed boat and the waters were so rough that you got completely soaked on the way there. I had so much water in my face at one point that I had to question whether I was in the boat or the water. Before we even arrived on the island, we were told that we would need to depart 15 minutes early due to weather (it was sunny all day long so they obviously knew the waters were too rough). On the way back, we took another route because it was "too dangerous" to go back the way we came. We pretty much came to a hault and our guide explained what was happening in Spanish and kept the rest of us that spoke English in the dark. We went through a canal that was barely deep enough for the boat. There were a couple of other boats in the same situation and we sat and watched people get in the water push and pull the other boats. We went no where really fast. I finally asked our guide what was happening and that is when he said we couldn't leave the way we came because it was not safe. That was not cool. Is this really safe? This is after our arrival to the island where we felt trapped because we were confined to the pool and a very small beach area. There was no beach to walk down and a very small part of the beach was sectioned off to swim in. It wasn't pretty looking. It felt like they brought us to this island so they could sell us their other services... massage, or snorkeling, scuba, and dolphin watching which we would have had to risk our lives and go out on another boat with them?? No thank you. They offered us coffee when we got there but no water or anything else and we were there for 5 hours. We were told we could buy from the bar. Then we heard through the grapevine that a Mohito was included but no one offered this to us. The traditional Columbian fish buffet that was included was ok, which was not served until 1:00pm. So we were basically stranded on this island for 5 hours and sat at the pool for the day, which is not a bad thing to sit by a pool all day long but it was not what we were expecting. The highlight was a guy who called himself Elvis who was selling jewelry - he was really nice and kept us entertained for some time as we looked through his jewelry. I would 100% not recommend this trip. Thumbs down all the way.

Hi Danielle, thanks for taking your time to share your comments regarding your experience in Cartagena. I would like to response to your concerns with this experience, however, after checking our booking system in November and December we couldn't find your information regarding your booking with Impulse Travel. I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience, but this complain is something that don't correspond to our operation in Cartagena, since our Isla del Sol daytrip never included an alcoholic drink as you mentioned. Thanks for your comprehension. Kind regards, Valeria

A good day of rest
Dec 2018
It is a good place ti visit fro a day of rest from Cartagena. The only bad experience is that the beaches and sea are somehow dirty in some areas. But overall a good beach rest.

Hi Marco! Thanks for taking your time to share your comments regarding your experience in the Rosario Islands. It's very important for us to know our customers' opinions. I'm glad that you had a great and relaxing experience at the beach. We know that some areas can be dirty and we're aware of this problem. This is something that everyone must change and we always try to work with responsible local operators that take care of their space and ecosystems. Hopefully this problem can be solved soon. Hope to host you in your next time in Colombia. Kind regards, Valeria

Awesome. Like a private resort for a day, just your boat and there was 1 other but it never felt crowded. I feel I can leave stuff and not worry about it. A lot of the people involved live there or are from there so there's a low key vibe. I decided to do some scuba and then just was lazy and hung out and read and drank and swam and was very happy.

Worth the boat ride!
Jul 2018
I did read quite some negative reviews of the trip. I personally don't think it was a bad trip. In fact, it was totally worth it. The waters are definitely emerald blue. The pool side is nice too. And I liked the food too (esp yuca and the coconut rice). We are vegetarians, and they had special pasta for us. There's plenty of space to keep your belongings, the beach isn't too crowded. The guide did speak a lot of Spanish, but he translated most of it to English as well. The only drawback was the boat ride. Its a speed boat, and the return ride was very choppy, due to high tide.

Hi Krishna, Thank you very much for taking a time to write us your comments. We totally agree with you, there are some little things to improve at Isla del Sol, however, it is a nice place for spending a relaxing day trip away from the city with family or friends. We are sure all your comments will help other travelers to make their travel decisions. It was more than a pleasure to be your hosts in Colombia. Best regards, Paula Duarte

Not worth your time or money.. don’t do it
The tour is more catered to locals. Our tour guide spoke Spanish 98% of the time.

The boat broke down 5 mins within the trip which ate up an hour of our time.

The welcome cocktail advertised was coffee and fruit.

94 dollars to take you to an island where you’re trapped to buy their services. You want to snorkel? 40mil peso more.. you want to see dolphins? Extra 40mil peso. Hike to local village? Extra peso. The beach on the island they take you is dirty. Plastic bags was floating in the water. Oh... WiFi on the island cost extra too. This only includes one way hotel pick up to port, no return trip.

Don’t do it.

They’re lunch provided was good though..it was traditional Colombian fish lunch buffet

Hi, We really appreciate you taking the time to write us a review. We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience. It looks like the day of the tour there was an inconvenience with the speedboat. On top of this, the weather was unsteady which might help cause distress to you. Our customer safety is a priority for us. As you can read in our inclusion, the tour has English support but is not fully bilingual and it includes one-way transportation from your hotel and to the port. Once you get to the island you can choose which activities to do at your own expenses. Once again, we are really sorry you didn't enjoy your experience. We hope we have the change to show you the IMPULSE way of trave next time you come to Colombia. Kind regards, María José Carrero

Most beautiful beach
I had the best day there. The guide was so knowledgeable. The island itself was amazing. The locals really took care of us. I went scuba diving for the first time. And the instructor really put me at ease. I would definitely go back.

Amazing trip!
Jun 2017
We went to a very simple but beautiful island in the middle of nowhere. Bendita Island. The water was immaculate and you see fish jumping out of the water. This was not a fancy destination but it was beautiful and peaceful. The food was good and the fish was fresh and you can get a couple of beers and what else do you need? Recommend it.

Great Get Away
Well islas del rosario es a great place to get away from the crowded city and actually get some relaxing time.
We took this trip with some friends and actually got a pretty good deal, as the boat was excelent and place were we went was really nice.
Be sure to take a lot of water and if any medication for sea sickness, try to go snorkeling and just enjoy your whole time. Also be sure to ask, whats the boat name to avoid any confusions in the pier.

Not the paradise I wanted
Dec 2017 • Friends
Our group of 8 took the day tour to Rosaria Island. The included buffet lunch was good and included fresh fried fish. The beaches were okay, but not as clean as they should be and water was difficult to get into because of the rocky bottom. What I most looked forward to, the snorkeling, was awful: they only supplied masks, and NO fins, which made the snorkeling in the current very difficult and unpleasant. The snorkeling guides were ineffective and largely "herded" us during the 40 minutes in the water.

Hi, Thank you very much for your comments, they really help us to improve the quality of our services and provide better experiences. It is a pity to see that the tour did not end as expected. We will talk to our activities provider at the island to see how we can improve the snorkeling experience and make it better for our customers. We are currently doing a research to offer different day trip options according to our customers' tastes and preferences, so you can select between several islands with different characteristics. We hope next time you visit us you will have a much better experience! Kind regards, Paula Duarte
