About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- DKJNYC10 contributionsLearning more about BoteroI truly enjoyed my personalized experience with Cesar on 8/10/24. He was great personality and expressed great pride in his county. I loved the museum and plaza tour. I found his insights interesting. However, I wanted just a bit more detail on Botero and his life besides the general overview.Written 12 August 2024
- as20100 contributionsBest guides for all things MedellínRodrigo and Govinda took us on a 1 day tour of guatapé and el peñol. They went above and beyond to show us the sights, avoid the crowds and share with us their experiences and knowledge of all things medellín and colombia. They are both extremely engaging, charismatic, professional, interesting and above all, a lot of fun to spend the day with. If you are going to Medellín, you won’t regret a minute spent with either of them.Written 18 January 2024
- Traceylaszloffy0 contributionsDelicious and Informative Street Food Tour!A fantastic introduction to Medellin and a fabulous street food tour. We have a perfect blend of learning so much and having so much fun. Andres, our guide, has so much knowledge that he generously shares and he is so kind and warm, which made our time together a delight. We especially LOVED going to the Florez Market and learning about and tasting a multiple of delicious fruits that are found in Colombia. And the street food we tasted in the Buenos Aires neighborhood was fantastic. We tasted so many different things that we were stuffed by the end. It was a terrific tour and Andres is a masterful guide. We can't say enough about how good this was.Written 10 March 2023
- SoloTraveler820 contributionsOne of the best experiences you can have in the cityI have done a lot of tours here in Medellin and this was definitely one of the best! My tour guide Jacobo, was very friendly and knowledgeable. I learned a lot about the city, its culture and way too much information about exotic fruit! I actually enjoyed riding the metro, getting to know the people in the market and the lunch at the restaurant was exceptional. I highly recommend this tour!Written 18 July 2022
- tmpeeps770 contributionsFood and so much funOne of my favorite tours and perfect for anyone who likes to try different foods. Alba was absolutely fantastic and so much fun! She was also very accommodating with our dietary preferences. I told her I couldn't eat dairy and she found plenty of nondairy options fo rme to sample. We had churros, fried potatoes, plantain chips, fresh fruits, empanadas, coffee, and so much more. We were literally stuffed! Besides the food, we learned a lot about the culture, history, and beauty of Medellin. Alba really makes this tour because she has so much knowledge about Medellin and you can feel her love for her country. Great tour, do it!Written 17 July 2022
- petrao6040 contributionsAmazing tour to find out the truth about Escobar and understand incredible transformation of Medellin!I was completely astonished and amazed after understanding Medellin's history and this was thanks to our outstanding and knowledgable guide and the way this tour is structured. Casa de la Memoria is fascinating museum to learn about the history of Medellin. There is a lot of misinformation and paradigm when it comes to the topic of Escobar but this tour truly helps you understand the truth and see the big picture. We did it in private transport and everything went great. Amazing experience! Highly recommended!Written 9 March 2022
- petrao6040 contributionsAmazing. Getting to know Medellin through the foodies eyes!We loved this tour so much I absolutely couldn't go without writing the review here! Medellin downtown is a real hustle and bustle and getting to know it through the eyes of an foodie is really unique experience. We did the tour in public transport and our guide Sandra was super knowledgeable and fun. We had the opportunity to try gran variety of local food like enpanadas, exotic fruits etc. Everything was delicious. What I liked a lot was also the opportunity to support local businesses and farmers through the tour. We ended the tour full and happy :) Highly recommend it!!Written 8 March 2022
- petrao6040 contributionsFun, unique and authentic experience! Loved it!We absolutely loved this tour! It is truly unique and authentic experience and one can immerse completely into the local culture while having SO much fun. We were a group of 4 and it was great to have the opportunity to play tejo and visit local "fondas" in Sabaneta. The food, drinks and the atmosphere were amazing. The transport was on point and our guide really helped make our experience top-notch! Thank you Palenque Tours!Written 8 March 2022
- 169heikoj0 contributionsJust a perfect dayWe did this tour on a friday before our last weekend in Medellín and had a spectacular day outside of the city. As we did not have time to travel to Cartagena the idea was to check out some colonial architecture close to Medellín. We went with Pablo who was very knowledgeable and well prepared. They picked us up after breakfast and it took about 1,5 hours to reach the village. As it is very hot there, please don't forget sunblocker and hats. Thank God the A/C was perfect and our driver knew the area pretty well to avoid long walks in the sun. Pablo walked with us through the colonial part where we learned a lot of hard facts combined with funny anecdotes of colonial history. Around midday he took us to a charming colonial restaurant to eat and pass the heat for a while. After lunch we met a local jewelry artist who explained to us in detail the technique Santa Fé is famous for. She uses recycled gold and silver but works the same technique as 500 years ago, a pretty outstanding detail I would say. Before heading back to Medellín we visited the famous Cauca bridge and had a cold beer in the shade observing this impressive river. To sum up, if you are looking for a combination of culture and landscapes that town is awesome and you will for sure not meet a lot of foreigners within the week. Thanks Palenque and Pablo, highly recommended.Written 24 February 2022
- 169heikoj0 contributionsDelicious food all aroundThanks to our local guide Sebastian we had a great time exploring the market. The market area is located in the middle of the city center. We booked the private transport option to avoid the tram and make the excursion nice and smooth. First we started with the fruit section and tasted a bunch of exotic stuff we never tried, that was really cool and the variety in Colombia is amazing. Then we checked out the other areas and the traditional products of the region before heading to a lovely small restaurant with the perfect offer and all ingredients straight from the same market. The setting on the market is very special and everything is moving around you which is great and different. Definitely off the beaten track, if booking, ask for Sebastian.Written 24 February 2022
- SebasRodH140 contributionsfun tour! Perfect to know the local culture!I'm from Colombia but I was doing 4 different tours with Palenque Tours Colombia because my friend from Germany was visiting my country and I wanted to show her the best of the best with off-the-bitten track places and experiences. I wouldn't leave Medellin without know this local experience. Of course, we loved it! It was very fun to know these local taverns and then play our sport: "tejo"! The guide was so fun and we had an amazing experience. Thank you for everything! This was our last tour and we really felt we knew the Paisa cultureWritten 20 September 2021
- SebasRodH140 contributionsVisit Moravia neighborhood with Palenque Tours! You will love it!I'm from Colombia but I was doing 4 different tours with Palenque Tours Colombia because my friend from Germany was visiting my country and I wanted to show her the best of the best with off-the-bitten track places and experiences. This tour was one of those that I would not have been able to carry out if it weren't for Palenque's help. The guides (the bilingual and local guide) were amazing, they were very informative, and they were always open to resolve all our questions. We visited the entire neighborhood and we shared with the local community. This is one of those tours that touch your heart and makes a change in your life (even when I'm Colombian!). Thank you palenque for organizing everything! We really enjoy it!Written 20 September 2021

Natalie was my guide. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. She picked me up at my hotel with a driver. I chose a private tour. I am so glad I took the tour of the neighborhood of Columna 13 so I could see the vast cultural contributions and struggles of the brown and black peoples of Medellin and Colombia which are essentially hidden from view if you stay in the wealthy Plobado area. The graffiti and music and food and people were great. Undoubtedly best event I did in Colombia.

That was our last tour in Medellín, so we asked for the same guide that took us to the market a couple of days before. We were happy that Sebastian was available again, so the tour was literally guided by a friend. The Street art topic in the Comuna 13 of Medellín is pretty diverse and in particular the political and social implications are very deep and a local guide helps a lot. We met a member of a local art initiative who was a graffiti artist himself.
He took his time to explain the origin of the Hip Hop movement in this particular part of Medellín, all very detailed and without a rush. Absolutely worth it to do it with a private tour. There are tons of local guides strolling around the area bothering you to go with them, so arriving there already with your own guide is a plus. Sebastian took us to some less known and crowded corners and we had a very special experience thanks to his support.
