What is Travellers’ Choice?
Tripadvisor gives a Travellers’ Choice award to accommodations, attractions and restaurants that consistently earn great reviews from travellers and are ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor.
Designed to provide an excellent mountain adventure accompanied by beautiful landscapes and surrounded by the wonderful ancestral cultures that still inhabit the imposing Sierra Nevada, the highest coastal mountain in the world. They will share with a Kogui community, a special community since their knowledge is of reflection before the means they inhabit, they have survived trying to maintain their customs, and they are considered the most peaceful group in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It is a new, exclusive tour with few visitors on a day-to-day basis, having the legal permission to operate with the Koguis natives. We do community tourism by integrating the inhabitants and helping to combat poverty with daily departures. We present a large part of the Tayrona indigenous ancestral culture

          Disappointing Ripoff
We waited for an hour and a half to board the boat and were squashed 5 to a seat and the other boats went out with three people to a seat, so the logistics of putting people into the boats was not good. The ride out was rough, so we were all saturated, and a poor child screamed in fear for most of the ride. When we arrived there was no snorkelling gear available and no kiosk to leave our bags so even though the beach looked like it would be a nice walk, I couldn’t do it without taking my backpack. Lunch was expensive and poor, even though the staff were lovely, service was slow and haphazard eating into the limited time we had on the beach. The multiple boats lined the beach again, blocking access and view. It was such a pity they didn’t take the boat back out and come in as a group. The images that were presented on the website certainly didn’t present in reality with plastic rubbish and crowds. It is the most expensive thing I’ve done in Columbia and the worst.

          Choose different company!
The beaches are beautiful, but try to go with a different company! It was not worth the money, just chaotic! I was supposed to meet the driver at 8.30/9am. At 6.30 I got a phone call that my driver was waiting. I didn't know at what time the boat would leave nor couldn't reach anyone from the agency. And the day coninued like this...

          Don't do it
Anyone suggesting using a speedboat to reach Cabo San Juan has no consideration for your safety. Simply put, it's dangerous. Huge waves and strong currents; if you fell in you'd have 0 chance of survival. Chances of falling in felt numerous in my experience, possibly the worst and scariest 90 min of my life, and I believe the conditions were pretty normal for the area. I haven't personally used this company, but getting to Tayrona by bus is my best advice.

I'll never use this operator again
We arrived at the designated departure area for a day trip to Tayrona and Cabo San Juan Beach at 10:00. After arriving, we waited for 90 minutes before putting our life jackets on and then stood on the beach for another half hour. After finally getting on the boat we sat for another 45 minutes while we waited for one of the other passengers to have her dog delivered. We arrived at Cabo San Juan beach finally at 2:00 - four hours after we should have departed from Taganga. We expressed our concern and the operator - Anna - told us we could return to Taganga at 5:30 instead of the regularly schedule 4:30. However at 4:00 they started rounding all of us up for the scheduled 4:30 departure. Anna clearly just told us what we wanted to hear - even if it wasn't true! I prefer to work with companies who manage their passengers better and who tell the truth. I did not get my money's worth. The only reason this was not a complete disaster was the professionalism and skill of the captain (in big waves) and the amazing beauty of Tayrona. We'll be back - just not with this company.
