What to expect
  • Stok Kangri is one of the highest trekkable peaks in the world. It stands at an elevation of 20,100 ft. and is higher than the highest mountain in Europe, Mt. Elbrus at 18,510 ft and although marginally, it is even higher than the highest mountain in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro at 19,340 ft. It beats two of the highest mountains across two different continents and is, without a doubt, a crowned jewel of India. The biggest and the only challenge during Stok Kangri trek is the summit day, where you have to brave sub-zero temperatures, trek on a glacier for about 6-7 hours at night, and walk on the ridgeline for about two hours to reach the summit. Although Stok Kangri does not require any technical experience, by no means it is meant for beginners. Brief Itinerary Day 1 : Arrive in Leh City & overnight stay in hotel. Day 2 : Acclimatization in Leh. Day 3 : Trek from Leh to Chang Ma via Stok Village. Day 4 : Trek from Chang Ma to Mankorma. Day 5 : Trek from Mankorma to Base Camp. Day 6 : Rest & Acclimatization day. Day 7 : Trek from Base Camp to Stok Kangri & back to base camp. Day 8 : Trek from Base Camp to Stok Village. Drive to Leh Day 9 : Reserve Day to be used for summit attempt in case of bad weather only. Day 10 : Departure from Leh

Stok Kangri Summit
I am from South Africa. I used Bikat for my Stok summit. Very very cheap for 6000m+ peak. Great food, great support staff. Well done. Only disappointing aspect is that they dont have a banner for the summit- i had to use TTH banner on the summit for pics, the certificates could be designed better, stupid design- imagine summitting a 6k peak and the certificate says you participated in a trek- poorly designed- it needs to emphasize that you summitted a 6k peak- please put more thought it your designs. Anothe issue is their trek leaders are over worked doing trek after trek as i felt my summit was almost compromised because of this.
But overall a great experince in tough conditions. Well done to the trek leader and support staff. It was amazing overall.

A Trek to Remember!
Aug 2019
My dream trek since 2 years and I went for Bikat blindly because of my past experience in Kedar Tal and Chadar Trek with them.

Excellent instructors: Very friendly and motivating.
Deedar was impressive from day1 briefing sessions. Be it explaining about the Clothing, Rucksack, Sleeping bags or the info about the trek conditions, he is a person with high level of energy & commitment.
Arjun is a jolly person who connects with everyone so easily.
Hats-off to Indrajeet who started from leh on the summit day itself and made our dream come true leading us to summit and back to base camp.

Trek Equipment: Received in very good condition. Making us comfortable to snow-boots from day2 was a very good decision (others usually don't do it). Proper training was given on the rest day at base camp which helped us to save a major fall close to shoulder while descending from summit (Indrajeet's instructions and other's quick reaction was a savior).

Food: Excellent as usual. Who expected gulab jamuns at base camp :)

Suggestions: Stok is comparatively very difficult this year due to heavy snowfall and hard trails. One more technical staff (bikat instructor) on summit day could have increased no. of summits in our group since more people were descending in night due to harsh conditions.
Tent zips are usually troubling in cold weather conditions. It's been a long pending problem with gipfel tents bikat uses.

Final words: My next trek - only Bikat.

A great Summit attempt with a great Team
Jul 2019 • Friends
Stok is dream long cherished and thanks Bikat team for helping me complete it. Like any other successful peak submission it takes few critical things in place to complete it (apart from your individual preparation).
1. A good team of trekkers (was ensured by Bikat through sufficient checks and balances in place before they take onboard an participant). Helped alot to make a great and strong team.
2. Trek leaders - (Technically fit and full of energy) - We got 2 trek leaders and both were competent and most important the super motivating. Summits push generally happens because of hunger of Trek leaders for summits. This team had that hunger and that made the real difference. Of course they were able to balance this hunger with sense of safety which is commendable . Barring few communucation gap on the safety procedures (may not actaul gaps) , everything was smooth. Trek planning was great keeping minute things in place .

3. Facilities and gears : Gears given to us were of great quality and facilities provided were at par with market standards.

I definitely recommend Bikat for this trek so far as they dedicate their best (motivated) man for the job. Entire team (participant + TL + Support staff) deserve an applaud for this effort.

P.S. Last year also I attempted this with Bikat, could not summit since Trek leaders were just okayish lacking that motivation and drive and were just doing formality. That was real game changer and happy that was fixed this time and appreciate the improvement.

It's more than a trek that will challenge our fitness
Jul 2019 • Friends
I recently completed this trek with Bikat adventures. Almost all from our batch (13 members) crossed the shoulder and 4 went to the peak. The trek leaders were fantastic and were motivating us everyday. whenever we feel it's difficult or something, they used to boost our energy. Had if the weather was not bad, everyone would have reached the summit. They give utmost priority to trekkers safety.
And more importantly the food was also good. they take care of everything like what food is good for that high altitude. whole bikat team was ready to take feedback and improve the service, anytime. there were foreigners and first timers in our team. All were well treated. all were pleased with the service of bikat.
Overall very good experience.

A hike of another level, not for beginners!!!
Jul 2019 • Friends
Stok Kangri Basically means "smelly feet" in Local term, and well its so appropriate as you dont get to remove you shoes during this Hike!!( Because its Freezing!! ) and then you can imagine the smell!! Jokes apart, doing the stok Kangri expedition with Bikat adventures, was my one of the most enjoyed and memorable treks. We pushed our bodies and fitness to a level where I didn't even know was possible.
We did aur trek from Stock village to the summit of the Stok Kangri peak with Bikat Adventures. And rightly so, I was very happy to do this trek with Bikat.
They had great arrangements when it came to camping at Chang ma, Mankorma and the Summit base camp. The food was lip smackinly good even at those altitudes.
We started the trek from Stok village and hiked for around 6 kms ( 4 hours ) to our first camping site Chang Ma,at an altitude of about 13000 feet, then next day to Mankorma at around 14500 feet (4 hrs) and then to the summit base camp at round 16500 feet ( 4 hrs). The camps were set up nicely and Bikat team took care of us at every stage.
The trek leaders Martanda Gautam , Adit and Ayushman were all very friendly and knowledgeable. They helped us in understanding the importance of acclimatization in such mountains. Our Oxygen levels were checked on regular basis. We had yoga sessions in every morning with breathing excercises which really helped us in regaining out oxygen levels.

We were given a proper information on the physical dangers at higher altitudes. The trek leaders were very informative and knowladgeble. They had practical knowlade in Medicines and procedures to avoid damage due to AMS. It was very helpful for us in order to understand and avoid AMS. We were brifed on the mountaineering gear and how to use them, we had a practice walk wearing all the gear and made familarized with the gear and we got to confirm our fit of the gear.
For the summit, we left at around 10 pm with all the gear on. It was a really really difficult hike, not for beginners for sure, as you require a lot of endurance, practice and experience for this kind of hike.
We hiked for about 16 hours ( to the summit and Back) all in snow, and really really cold weather. Our trek leaders had decided a turn around time of around 7.30 to 8 am as the weather at this altitude changes with out any warning, and in the actual summit, it did!! The sky was clear in the night when we started the hike and by the time we reached the shoulder of the summit, it changed and suddenly a blizzard started. We were partially blinded and we had to return just 80-100 meters short of the summit. The trek was so demanding that out of 19 members, only 6 of us could reach close to the summit. All others had to abort due to fatigue and lack of fitness. But Bikat guides were really helpful taking those people who were too tired and not well, back to the base camp. They never sent anyone back alone and made sure that everyone reached back to the base camp safely. There were still 2 guides and 2 trek leaders with us all the time helping us navigate through soft snow and the challenges of snow walking.
We had Cramp-ons on our snow shoes provided by Bikat, so we could walk on the snow without slipping. The trek was really tough, we pushed ourselves to another level to make this summit attempt, but due to too much snow and bad weather, we had to return minutes away from reaching the summit. Only one of us could make it to the summit as he was a little early than the turn around time.
Bikat Adventures was really proffessional when it came to handlling the summit attempt or even arranging everything for us, I am really happy that I could do it and almost made it the top.
I couldn't have done it with out Bikat adventures, thank you so much for all your efforts
