KR Market and neighborhood walk
Our group of 2 had such a wonderful morning exploring the vibrant KR Market and surrounding areas. Ali was a wonderful guide and full of information. So great seeing first hand the local bartering process at KR, peaking into silk manufacturing, schools, brass works, and more. These are things you just can’t do without a guide. When in Bangalore this tour is a must!

My son and I enjoyed this walk early sat morning. Brekky at NMH and then a perfect cool July morning stroll to see the palace, Kote Srinivasa temple and Blore fort. Mansoor is an engaging guide and shares various snippets that my 11 year old son enjoyed too.

Refreshing Sunday morning heritage walk with Mansoor Ali sir!
Feb 2019 • Solo
Overall, this was a very interesting and refreshing walk for me. A good start to the Sunday! I had a good time interacting with Mansoor sir, and learning about the history and growth of the city. He bought me a tasty masala dosa for breakfast at Prakash Café, only because he was late by a few minutes :) I appreciate the kind gesture! Thank you, Mansoor sir. Looking forward to be part of future walks.

Witness a different side of Bangalore
Feb 2019 • Solo
This was my 2nd walk with Ali in 2 weeks. I moved to Bangalore 2.5 years back but so far my experience of Bangalore was limited to the snarling traffic, overcrowded restaurants and bars. I had hardly visited Old Bangalore and was looking for a chance to get to know Bangalore better. Then I heard about the Russell market walk on Facebook and decided to try it out. It was an eye opener for me. I didn't know that so many interesting places existed within a few kms from my home. Ali is an architect by profession so he brought out interesting nuances of the old houses and buildings and brought them alive for me. He took us to old forgotten places with interesting histories which I am sure I would never even have noticed on my own.
The walk of the Tipu Sultan palace and the nearby fort area was a prime example of this. He took us to a old abandoned, decrepit building which once served as the armoury of the mighty Tipu Sultan. On my own, I would have thought of the place as an abandoned plot had he not pointed out the history of that place to me.
The best thing about Ali is his passion to share the history of his hometown with outsiders like me. He was kind enough to talk us to the walk even though only 2 people showed up. Anyone else would have cancelled the walk in the case of such a small turnout. Not only that, he was kind enough to take us to the legendary Flower Market in the KR market complex even though that was not part of the itinerary.
I feel really thankful to Ali for showing me the interesting side of Bangalore and would recommend his tours to everyone who wants to know the illustrious history of this metropolis.

We had really good time with Ali, this walk was an eye opener on lots of facts, even though we are staying in this city for more than a decade now.

Ali took us all around Tipu Sultan Summer Palace and vital Fort areas. Armory was the real surprise for me where in we never noticed it before until he showed us.

Looking forward for many more Walks with you Ali.

Tour of the old fort town of Bengaluru and market place
Nov 2018 • Couples
We had a fantastic time with Ali, who guided us through the history of Bangalore from its foundation in the early 16th C by Kempe Gowda up to the point when it was betrayed into the hands of the East India Company, with a focus on the reign of Tipu Sultan (the tiger of Bangalore). Starting at the summer palace, Ali talked us through the building and really brought the site to life...without him it would have not have been worth the 300Rs entry fee for foreigners! (nb this is included in the price of the tour with Ali). From here we walked through central Bangalore for breakfast of poori and dosa at the fantastic Prakash cafe (also included in the tour). Afterwards, we set out again visiting the old ammunition store on the way to all that remains of the old Bangalore fort. Finally, he kindly took us through the main wholesale market in Bangalore (KR)...which was spectacularly colourful only a couple of days before Diwali...and ended up a silk shop (which my wife wanted to visit). An excellent tour (which ended up being nearly 5 hours), Ali gave us a good overview of Bangalore and the history of this region of India as well as a delicious breakfast. Highly recommended and good value.
