Amazing wildlife & cultural experience! 🐫
Ashok is a very kind, considerate & well spoken tour guide. We felt safe, cared for & never pressured. The tour was a lovely insight into authentic life outside of Jodhpur city. We saw beautiful wildlife in their natural habitat, even endangered Siberian cranes! Ashok is dedicated to his family, culture & heritage. He is passionate about supporting local community, preserving cultural traditions & caring for the environment. It was our absolute pleasure to share time with him on this safari! A must do Village Tour near Jodphur
Today Ashok took us around his amazing Bishnoi village in a Mahindra jeep and showed us all the amazing crafts and traditional skills in the village. We first visited a family-run pottery business. Absolutely amazing the wheel turning skills of the craftsmen. Ashok explained the history and methods used by the family and gave us a valuable insight into the process. Then onto his own house and his brother demonstrated rug weaving. So beautiful. We ended up buying 2 beautiful rugs to take home to NZ. Then onto an Opium ceremony and turban wrapping experience. In 3 hours we learnt more about Indian culture and especially village enterprises than we have since being here. Can’t recommend highly enough. We will be telling our mates to visit!!

          Amazing experience
We had the most amazing experience when we went on the village tour with Chhotu,he picked us up and took us to his village. We first went to see a family of farmers, then on to a potters home where we watch clay pots being made on a manual wheel ,then got the option to have ago ourselves. From there he took us to his own family home ,they are weavers ,his parents demonstrated the art of weaving which was incredible what they were producing,Chhotu children were there also his brothers children , they were to meet the youngest a small baby,up to 16 years , his wife & sister-in law cooked us a traditional lunch which was lovely.Chhotu mentioned that they also have Homestay there too ,you stay in a traditional dung hut & that they also give cooking lessons,so my husband and I asked if we could have a lesson,we ended up there all day .His wife and sister in law showed us how to make 6 traditional Rajasthan dishes 2 types of bread. & chai tea .When it was all cooked mostly on an open fire we sat with the family & ate it ,it was fantastic,it will always be a memory we will cherish to get that opportunity & as a family they were so hospitable thank you Kim & Steve uk

Dear Mr. Chhotaram, Thank you very much for organizing such a wonderful village safari. It was a heartwarming experience to connect with the local culture and people. The hospitality we received from Mr. Ashok made the journey even more special and memorable. I'll definitely recommend in my network who will come for Jodhpur sightseeing. Best regards, Brij

A wonderful window into the villages of Rajasthan
Our tour with Mr Ashok was one of the best experiences in Jodhpur. Lost in the city, we usually forget to experience the true flavour of Rajasthan. Our day was filled with spotting interesting endemic flora and fauna while surrounded by peacocks. The activities that he acquainted us with such as block printing and pottery truly amazed me. It was not staged at all. We visited houses of local artisans and saw them create art. We visited his own house where his family works as weavers and saw how beautifully they bring such art forms to life. Followed by this his wife put before us one of the most delicious and true flavours of Rajasthan for lunch. I can never forget the taste of that curry and bajre ki roti. It was a wholesome trip which dominated the first half of the day. The weather was pleasant which added to the beauty. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to go beyond the city and explore what a Rajasthani village feels like. The warm hospitality of Mr Ashok, his knowledge about Rajasthan and his multilingual nature make him one of the best guides in the city.

Amazing day meeting the Salawas tradition
Amazing day by hand of Chhotaram, he took us to the traditional places where they grow food, do the ceramics, cook and do their traditional interlocked weaving and many other interesting cultural activities to learn the old ways. We finished into his house having a traditional meal with his family and the flavours of the area. Don’t miss buying a Durry, only 40 families left doing this amazing craftmanship!

          You must do this!
By far the best experience we have had on our trip! We were picked up at 8am for a safari geep tour to the Bishnois villages. We saw gazelle, deer and peacocks on the way. First we met a lovely family who explained the ceremonial ritual and through our guide told us fantastic stories. We were lucky enough to be here at the start of Holi festival so they were painting their floors in anticipation. We then drove to a potter who showed us how they make clay pots to hold water and other items they make, how they kiln them on an open kiln. It was so interesting and finally our wonderful guide, Chotaram took us to his house where his parents showed us their weaving. We had lunch made by Chotoram's wife in their house. The love the family have for one another and the natural laughter between them was infectious. If we ever come to Jodhpur again, we will definitely stay at their home stay. The food was out of this world and we learnt so much from Chotoram. He even bought us a delicious sugar cane drink to try on our arrival back into the city! Honestly, I cannot recommend him enough. A genuinely lovely man, full of interesting knowledge and a great horrible history lesson you do not receive from other guides! We loved every minute of it!

          A unique cultural tour
We didn’t know exactly what to expect from this tour but really turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Our guide Chhotuh was waiting for us at the pickup point in a jeep as advertised. Chhotuh was a perfect guide. He is from the Bishnoi village so really is the perfect guide with intimate knowledge that was so interesting to learn about their customs and life. Chhotuh’s wife cooked us traditional foods over an open fire. Although there was cutlery, Chhotu showed me how to eat with hands only which is an experience and surprisingly practical. This really is a great day - highly recommended!

Beautiful experience 👌👌Must visit the local villages to know the real India
We travelled with ChotaRam Prajapat and learnt about the local arts and crafts pottery, indigo dyeing, Dabu prints, block printing, and specially interlock Durrie weaving. This was followed by dinner at their home in a very family environment. Food was cooked on the wood fired Chulha. It’s an amazing experience! Choraram ji discussed in detail how the local artisans are benefitted by the interest shown by travellers in their art. Durrie making is an art which is on the brink of dying and needs to be encouraged We bought (Dabu block printed) bed sheets and Durrie from local craftsmen Enjoyed the local Rajasthani food KairSangari, Rabodi and Bajri roti with lasun chutney under a starlit sky 👌👌👌 We also saw Neel Gai and flocks of Peacocks and peahens on our way

Don’t book with this tour company!
Had to cancel due to a medical condition. Asked for a refund as the tour had already took the money from my bank card. Was told by the organiser I’d be refunded. Still have not received this refund.

Ashok took us on a village safari whish was very nice. We went to see a family that made pottery of clay all by hand. It was really cool to see them do it and they sold some nice craft for a small price. Then we went to a family that showed us how they prepare opium and some other typical food of the region. All the while Ashok told us a lot about the cast system here and other stories of the region. We then went on a safari, ate desert berries from the trees, saw lots of wildlife and went to a natural water well. It was a lovely tour that then ended at a fabric recycling factory where they had the most beautiful scarfs table rugs, bed sheets etc.

The village Safari was fantastic. Chhota Ram Prajapat looked after us very well and took us around the village. We spotted Black bucks, Neel gaay and camels. We also were taken to the local pottery making family where we tried our hand in traditional pottery making. Chotaram took us to his home and we were served a very lovely traditional vegetarian lunch at his home.
All in all, a wonderful experience!

Had an excellent day with Ashok as our guide walking us through the different aspects of village life and the different crafts and trades that are well and truly alive. Ashok picked us up at our hotel in Jodhpur and drove us about an hour away from the city where we spotted some black bucks and then further on to craftsmen in different villages. We got to see (and do!) block printing, pottery and weaving and then finished up with a lovely home cooked meal at the Prajapati family residence. They also have the facility of a home stay which we hope to enjoy on our next trip!

Visited Jodhpur just for 2 days and choose to book half day village Safari, that was great experience! We saw many animals like peacocks deers, blue bulles and black buck! Gide was very informative, he told a lot of things about culture life and history of this place. We saw the process of making clay pots and tried to do it ourselves!
In the end we had an amazing experience to have authentic dinner with very nice and kind family.
I recommending this tour to everyone who wants to know more about real life out of big city.
Thanks to our guide Chhotaram for very informative tour and for sharing such important things about real culture and life.

We were 10 members of the same family and spent half day with Chotaram for a safari tour. We had two jeeps and had the chance to see many gazelles and a few antilopes. We visited villages and had a stop for the traditional opium ceremony, pottery session, carpet discovery. We had a lunch at his home. Chotaram was very friendly and gave us many info on his Bishnoi traditions. I strongly recommend.

The day with Chhotaram and his family was excellent. We saw various birds and the Blackbuck antelope before stopping off at the local clay pottery. Where we tried our hand at making a traditional clay pot. Then tried the interlock weaving at his family home with a local tasty home cooked vegetable curry. Chhotaram is informative in explaining local Rajasthan customs. Throughly enjoyable day, well worth it.

We did a 1/2 day village Safari with Ashok driving a Mahindra Thar. He is smart presentable and communicates well in Hindi and in reasonable English. We saw some Deer, Nilgai and Black bucks on the way. We stopped at a block printer’s and a pottery maker’s place. Wonderful experience. Bought bed sheets. Final stop over at the Prajapat home where he showed us dhurry weaving. We bought that too. Ended with a wonderful home cooked simple meal - bajra roti, sabzi, kadi and rice. The whole experience was extremely warm and hospitable. They have nine cottages at their homestay. Very comfortable and well appointed. I had to use their toilet and trust me it’s Krishna Gopal certified!!!

My wife wants to come back and stay here for a day for sure.

Strongly recommend this place. I am told they recently won an award for the best Rural Homestay.

I did this morning trip whilst staying at Chhotaram Prajapat's Homestay (which I recommend staying at) and it was great to head out for the morning in a jeep and see the local villages and near by areas. I saw so many different animals and got to speak to some Villagers.
We visited a Pottery Workshop and a Textile Factory but neither of them pressured me into buying things and had I had space in my bag these were great places to go for local handicrafts.
        I'd really recommend doing this!
