This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Walk with Neeta 10 minutes to the nearby Paota Sabji Mandi for your market visit. This is a neighborhood fruit and vegetable market where locals shop for their daily groceries. This is not a typical market tour of a central market or bazaar. This neighborhood roadside market consists of a few stalls and while it might appear to be chaotic, Neeta will take you in an organized fashion to her favorite vendors and introduce you to the local produce. Afterwards you will return to Neeta's home and join Neeta and her khansama (family cook) in their kitchen and learn to cook traditional Rajasthani dishes. Neeta acts as a translator while her cook teaches you how to make dishes such as Ker sangri (a traditional Rajasthani dish made with dried ker berry and sangri beans), dal (lentils), steamed rice or chapati (flatbread) and gatte ki sabzi (gram flour dumplings in a yogurt gravy). Enjoy the traditional Rajasthani dishes your have cooked at Neeta’s dining table during your experience. You will end your meal with a sweet Indian dessert such as laapsi made from nuts, wheat and ghee.
