Reading the poets of Agra can make one realise that language is not a barrier but a tool to establish human connections. Be it Nazir Akabarabadi, Ghalib, or Mir Taqi Mir, the city and its culture has been documented beautifully in poetic verses. This tradition has continued with new poets emerging and evolving from different languages and communities. Join us on this poetry walk across the old city as we visit the birthplaces of some great poets, read and talk about the poetry of Agra, and try to understand the submergence of language within the city’s unique cultural richness.

Fascinating walk with a great storyteller
We booked their Agra 101 tour for our first day in India and it turned out to be the perfect introduction to the region. Our guide, Arhaan, was incredibly knowledgeable and a great communicator. He took us deep into Agra’s history, then walked us to fascinating sights around busy old city, including jama masjid, kashmiri bazar, a spice market and a perfumery dating back to Mughal days. Arhaan’s passion for history was obvious and it was so great getting to know Agra through a local’s eyes and hearing stories you'd never find elsewhere. Old city can be a bit of sensory overload (plus we were 2 females travelling India for the first time, who'd just flown in the night before) so this tour was the perfect way to immerse ourselves deep in the real India minus the total overwhelm. Recommended!

      Wonderful, memorable walk
I truly loved this experience. It is a must-do for any international tourist in Agra. I was a solo American traveler on my first trip to India. I came to see the Taj Mahal, but I also wanted to learn more about this fascinating, ancient city. I arranged the tour fairly last minute and was so lucky to have Aarhan as my guide. He went above and beyond my expectations. We began at the Jama Masjid mosque, where he explained the history of the mosque and the city. He paid close attention during this first 30 minutes to what I was interested in seeing and doing, and shaped the tour accordingly. He helped me see Old Agra as a past and present place simultaneously. We ducked into little shops owned by artisans that had been there for decades - spices, musical instruments, perfumes, etc. We walked into parking areas for motorcycles that I wouldn't have looked twice at, and he pointed out the highly decorative tiles and siding along these buildings, explaining how these were once courtyards the wealthy centuries ago. He pointed out food, explained the way of life, etc. He also helped me logistically with finding a safe rickshaw driver. I really can't say enough good things.

      Well worth the money
Interesting tour of Agra & its history including a few nibbles here & there of food & the spices. Khaleem was engaging & obviously loves his city. We wandered down streets & alleys that you wouldn't really stumble across. I love food tours as it tells the story of a place so I'd fully recommend you do one - you won't be disappointed !

Storytelling at its best - unforgettable sunrise Taj tour
This morning we had the Agra Heritage Walk to the Taj Mahal at sunrise. It was an unforgettable experience! Besides the beauty of the Taj Mahal, our guide Kaleem made this visit epic! He is a great storyteller and guided us through the entire area. The 3 hours were not too long, on fact the area is very large, so I can only recommend to take the time.

      Unforgetable unique experience
Our 3 hours guided tour with Agra Heritage Walk was a excellent highlight of our trip to Agra. Kaleem, our guide was very accommodating to host us during Ramzan period and amidst the summer heat. The walk was easy paced, it was held in the evening where the weather was much pleasant. Kaleem was friendly, knowledgeable and very passionate in sharing cultural stories of Agra, he also told us wonderful history on Jama Masjid and its surrounding area. The heritage walk brought us to unique routes, stores and food that were only known to the locals. A memorable part of the walk was when we got off-the-beat to view the evening's beautiful sunset on top of a roof. It was an unique experience admiring the vast view of the old Agra city during sunset. Kaleem was kind enough to invite us to his home and also to perform a tune on his Indian Sarod, a traditional musical instrument. Highly recommended for anyone interested in experiencing Agra through the viewpoint of a local. Learn about the rich history, diversity of the nation and you will have an unforgettable experience.

      The Treasure of our Trip
If you are looking to see another, better side of Agra, look no further. Agra Heritage Walks provided us a glimpse into what Agra has to offer beyond the Taj, and we were not disappointed. Between sharing incredible food and drinks through the course of the walk, accompanied by the perspectives and stories from the locals, we grew familiar with what the city has to offer in terms of food, history, culture, and people. Tahir was a charming host, incredible storyteller, and has great taste, showing us spots around town, not only for food, but for leisure, admiring the architecture, facilitating conversation, and of course, plenty for eating. Agra Heritage Walks is actively preserving the history of this community, and their work is phenomenal. Additionally, he adapted to our last minute planning and accommodated us regardless, with quick response and a smile on his face. Only compliments to Agra Heritage Walks for showing us your beautiful city. What a gem.

Recommended tour for a more genuine experience
Excellent tour provided in neighbourhoods of Agra which usually remain unseen by most of the visitors. Very much appreciated the occasion provided by the tour to engage with locals, away from the main touristic attractions. Definitely recommended for a more genuine experience of this beautiful city, who has even more to offer than only the Taj Mahal!

      Impressive insights
Alim gave us an excellent and informative tour of religious sites and of places in the Old City with an impressive knowledge of history and culture. We would never have had the courage to explore these secluded and precious venues on our own. We especially appreciate the possibility to get insights into everyday life and to listen to his opinion on current issues. Thank you so much!

Best guided tour I've ever had.
Tahir is one of those precious stand-out guides that you rarely get the pleasure of encountering. He's intelligent, perceptive and tailors the tour to your needs. In fact he was so good we cancelled our guide for the next tour and paid more to have him. Not only were his stories fascinating, but I particularly liked the fact that he advised us not to take photos, he knew all the right shots and took them himself, leaving us free to truly appreciate these phenomenal sites. At one point it almost became like a guided meditation. Being a professional tour guide myself and a perfectionist, this is no small praise, I learned a lot from him and will use what I learned in my tours. Thank you Tahir.

Attending today's city walk was undoubtedly a beautiful and enlightening experience. It is significant to understand that Agra is so much beyond the Taj Mahal. The stories, the people, the culture it brims with is still unknown to many of us. We were guided through the streets of the old city that not only reflect the religious diversity the city showcases, but also the rich art and literature that is embedded in its history. Kaleem and Tahir are really dedicated. The anecdotes and perspectives they shared with us today mirror how much they love the city and its culture and that's truly inspiring.

This was a highlight for our trip in Agra, while the Taj was beautiful, this walking tour through the old city really is a wonderful way of getting to know the people and culture in a better way. Anal, our guide was excellent. Rather then an overload us with historical facts - this tour offered a much more relaxed and safe way to appreciate the part of the old city and some of the historical gems that are hidden here - the food tasting was also excellent. We ended the tour sitting above the city listening to Anal play the flute while overlooking the Taj. It was truly magical!! Highly recommend to anyway who wants more from Agra then the Taj!

Visiting Taj and Agra is something which is done by thousands of travelers almost daily. But how many of them Experience Taj mahal and Agra??

Experience is something which truly comes from living it first hand. But how does one get to live something which was constructed almost 400 years back and is way past its prime in today's time?? Here's where Tahir and Agra Heritage walk comes in.

Although i have visited Taj innumerable times but a walk with Agra heritage walk is like time travel. Tahirs insightful narration transcends us to a level which we couldn't have imagined. Those 2 3 hours of walk made us feel like we are living the moments of bygone Era rather than visiting them.

AHW is something which I recommend to each and evry person whether a local or tourist. Its an experience which am sure you will relish.
