About
Walking down the lanes of Agra leaves one absorbed by the aroma of the different spices, various food stalls and the overall diverse cuisines of the city. Be it while looking at the century-old spice shops at Rawatpada or eating the delectable and famous mutton stew at Pakiza Meat Shop, it is a wonder how different spices and flavours blend into the living history of the city, and how modern alterations to the original dishes over time have created new flavours that still retain the cultural significance of the dish. Join us on a food tour across the old city as we take you through a journey of myriad palates, with a variety of different dishes ranging from Mughlai non-vegetarian cuisine to braj ke bhalle, and discuss how the different spices/preparations used by generations have influenced the food and living culture of the city.

- S1739UOchrisr0 contributionsArhaan made my trip!I have done a lot of travelling with various guides over the years but this tour was one of the most enlightening and comprehensive tours I have ever done. It covers everything from an in depth narration of the history of India and what has impacted the city of Agra over the years to going to a centuries old perfume distillery to understand the day to day life of Indians. Understanding the seemingly chaotic streets in India Arhaan explains his upbringing in the city and how much of a community has been built here. Arhaan was incredibly good at gauging your interests and had endless knowledge and patience and this ability to read his audience made him a phenomenal storyteller and it's what we travel for. To understand the places we visit and the people who live there. This is more than a guided tour of the city of Agra, this is an unforgettable experience given by one of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure to know who will tailor your trip to fit whatever you want to get out of it at your own pace with seemingly endless options he offers you from trying the evening street food to visiting the Jama masjid during prayer.Written 20 February 2025

- NorthStar374837358810 contributionsAgra 101 tour reviewWe had such a wonderful tour with Arhaan who showed us around Jama Masjid, a market, and showed us some really lovely views of Agra. He gave us great historical and local context for everything and found us delicious food as well. If you want to see Agra outside of the main biggest historical sites this tour is absolutely for you. Thank you to Arhaan and Agra heritage walks for this opportunity!Written 29 January 2025
- Climber7881940 contributionsGreat experience at Taj MahalArhaan was our guide, and we spent the entire morning with him. He was an excellent guide due to his skill, experience, and knowledge about the Taj Mahal. We were two people, and he gave us a tour explaining both the historical context and all the important aspects of the building’s architecture. Thanks to his guidance, we were able to fully enjoy a wonderful experience at such an important monument as the Taj Mahal.Written 25 January 2025
- 609madelinen0 contributionsArhaan’s Agra 101!!!Huge thanks to Arhaan for an amazing introduction to the history and culture of Agra…in a few short hours he managed to share so many stories…his passion for Agra shone through and he answered all of our questions…even the silly ones…this is a must for visitors to the city!!!!Written 24 January 2025
- daniw8880 contributionsFascinating walk with a great storytellerWe booked their Agra 101 tour for our first day in India and it turned out to be the perfect introduction to the region. Our guide, Arhaan, was incredibly knowledgeable and a great communicator. He took us deep into Agra’s history, then walked us to fascinating sights around busy old city, including jama masjid, kashmiri bazar, a spice market and a perfumery dating back to Mughal days. Arhaan’s passion for history was obvious and it was so great getting to know Agra through a local’s eyes and hearing stories you'd never find elsewhere. Old city can be a bit of sensory overload (plus we were 2 females travelling India for the first time, who'd just flown in the night before) so this tour was the perfect way to immerse ourselves deep in the real India minus the total overwhelm. - Ding_Donger0 contributionsWonderful, memorable walkI truly loved this experience. It is a must-do for any international tourist in Agra. I was a solo American traveler on my first trip to India. I came to see the Taj Mahal, but I also wanted to learn more about this fascinating, ancient city. I arranged the tour fairly last minute and was so lucky to have Aarhan as my guide. He went above and beyond my expectations. We began at the Jama Masjid mosque, where he explained the history of the mosque and the city. He paid close attention during this first 30 minutes to what I was interested in seeing and doing, and shaped the tour accordingly. He helped me see Old Agra as a past and present place simultaneously. We ducked into little shops owned by artisans that had been there for decades - spices, musical instruments, perfumes, etc. We walked into parking areas for motorcycles that I wouldn't have looked twice at, and he pointed out the highly decorative tiles and siding along these buildings, explaining how these were once courtyards the wealthy centuries ago. He pointed out food, explained the way of life, etc. He also helped me logistically with finding a safe rickshaw driver. I really can't say enough good things.Written 30 December 2024
- Nomad365333791160 contributionsStorytelling at its best - unforgettable sunrise Taj tourThis morning we had the Agra Heritage Walk to the Taj Mahal at sunrise. It was an unforgettable experience! Besides the beauty of the Taj Mahal, our guide Kaleem made this visit epic! He is a great storyteller and guided us through the entire area. The 3 hours were not too long, on fact the area is very large, so I can only recommend to take the time.Written 5 November 2024

- dAgraphik0 contributionsUnforgetable unique experienceOur 3 hours guided tour with Agra Heritage Walk was a excellent highlight of our trip to Agra. Kaleem, our guide was very accommodating to host us during Ramzan period and amidst the summer heat. The walk was easy paced, it was held in the evening where the weather was much pleasant. Kaleem was friendly, knowledgeable and very passionate in sharing cultural stories of Agra, he also told us wonderful history on Jama Masjid and its surrounding area. The heritage walk brought us to unique routes, stores and food that were only known to the locals. A memorable part of the walk was when we got off-the-beat to view the evening's beautiful sunset on top of a roof. It was an unique experience admiring the vast view of the old Agra city during sunset. Kaleem was kind enough to invite us to his home and also to perform a tune on his Indian Sarod, a traditional musical instrument. Highly recommended for anyone interested in experiencing Agra through the viewpoint of a local. Learn about the rich history, diversity of the nation and you will have an unforgettable experience.Written 21 April 2024
- nernsts20240 contributionsRecommended tour for a more genuine experienceExcellent tour provided in neighbourhoods of Agra which usually remain unseen by most of the visitors. Very much appreciated the occasion provided by the tour to engage with locals, away from the main touristic attractions. Definitely recommended for a more genuine experience of this beautiful city, who has even more to offer than only the Taj Mahal!Written 21 March 2024
- 417j_rgenj0 contributionsImpressive insightsAlim gave us an excellent and informative tour of religious sites and of places in the Old City with an impressive knowledge of history and culture. We would never have had the courage to explore these secluded and precious venues on our own. We especially appreciate the possibility to get insights into everyday life and to listen to his opinion on current issues. Thank you so much!Written 14 March 2024
- 227elainea0 contributionsBest guided tour I've ever had.Tahir is one of those precious stand-out guides that you rarely get the pleasure of encountering. He's intelligent, perceptive and tailors the tour to your needs. In fact he was so good we cancelled our guide for the next tour and paid more to have him. Not only were his stories fascinating, but I particularly liked the fact that he advised us not to take photos, he knew all the right shots and took them himself, leaving us free to truly appreciate these phenomenal sites. At one point it almost became like a guided meditation. Being a professional tour guide myself and a perfectionist, this is no small praise, I learned a lot from him and will use what I learned in my tours. Thank you Tahir.Written 15 February 2024

Interesting tour of Agra & its history including a few nibbles here & there of food & the spices. Khaleem was engaging & obviously loves his city. We wandered down streets & alleys that you wouldn't really stumble across. I love food tours as it tells the story of a place so I'd fully recommend you do one - you won't be disappointed !

If you are looking to see another, better side of Agra, look no further. Agra Heritage Walks provided us a glimpse into what Agra has to offer beyond the Taj, and we were not disappointed. Between sharing incredible food and drinks through the course of the walk, accompanied by the perspectives and stories from the locals, we grew familiar with what the city has to offer in terms of food, history, culture, and people.
Tahir was a charming host, incredible storyteller, and has great taste, showing us spots around town, not only for food, but for leisure, admiring the architecture, facilitating conversation, and of course, plenty for eating. Agra Heritage Walks is actively preserving the history of this community, and their work is phenomenal. Additionally, he adapted to our last minute planning and accommodated us regardless, with quick response and a smile on his face.
Only compliments to Agra Heritage Walks for showing us your beautiful city. What a gem.

As a food lover and sucker for trying anything new when it comes to food, I had an amazing experience with Akbarabadi food trail curated for us by Tahir Bhai. It was one of the most unique experiences I've ever had.
Every food and every street had a story!
Chimmanlal aloo Puri, Disco Aloo, Anjeer Halwa, Soan Halwa at Gopal Peth, Cafe Ghalib, Pakiza mutton, Daulat ki Chaat, Makhan ki gujiya.. all exceptional, unique , tasty amazing food absolutely to die for. The passion that Tahir Bhai has for the culture of Agra made it even better. If you are ever in Agra, this is an experience you should definitely try because no food blogger or Google map can help you find these locations.
PS: Urdu shayari under the moon at Cafe Ghalib is another experience to look forward to

Agra heritage walk offers an adventure in the narrow and quaint streets of Agra to make us discover its unique charm through the perspective of some artists, who love this city and make us fall in love with it too. Those artists make us look beyond the famous Taj Mahal to see the endless wonders of the heritage of Agra that history left behind. Also, keep your eyes widely opened cause you'll see a lot of magical everyday scenes within the chaos of this fuzzy city.
So go have a sip of the best chaï of Agra, do not forget to pass by the old mosque and always end a walk with a flute piece and I promise you won't be disappointed.
