One of d best things to do around bali.
Pick up is on time. Vehicle was a daihatsu which has seen better days, but performed well n did all that was asked of it. Both treks, rice fields n jungle are easy and not a major strain. Early July is not the best time for green rice fields as most had already been harvested. Can only imagine how much better it would have looked when lush. Buffet was again decent without being awesome. . good view. Offroading was great, proper 4*4, 50° inclines n sojourns thru the track. . picked up fresh guavas off trees on d way. The drive to the lake is again great. The canoe ride probably the highlight. . a 61 yr old granny kinda lady owned the double hulled craft. . Jungle walk starts off feeling seerene and peaceful, latter half feels like ur going around in circles. . no birds, no monkeys, no nothing. . only parasitic trees n creepers n nettles of various kinds. . .over n over again. . if u havnt ever been in a jungle, definitely look forward to this. . Aside - particular vehicle had d tyre in front of d hatch on roof. Counterintuitive to have u look into a big off-road tyre. We did not have any coffee break in d jungle. . . website says so. Instead wr taken to a commercial farm/ promo counter. . whr we did have decent coffee played with a monkey called 'Simon' and got ourselves catpoochino. .

Not sure we got the normal driver & vehicle
Turned out to be a scenic trip in the hills, but the vehicle had a broken seat & i had to prop it up with a cooler & was still very uncomfortable. The guide was really pushy & a bit off in my books. He was persistent that we visit places like the Lewak coffee place, even though we insisted we didn't want to. The vehicle had trouble the whole day & ended up with the vehicle breaking down on our way back to Seminyak. Wasn't worth the money on this day.

          Highlight of Bali Holiday
We had an absolute blast when we did this 4wd tour. Alex our guide and Toni our driver were punctual in picking us up from our villa and made sure that we were well taken cared of for the whole day. Alex was a very good tour guide, he knew a lot and we learnt heaps about balinese culture and tradition. Offroading in the jungle and canoeing in Lake Tamblingan was so muchh enjoyable. I definitely recommend this tour.

Worth every dollar! So much to see and do! Great experience and loved every second of it! A day full of amazement as we travel through rice fields, forests, lakes, and villages. Riding on top of the truck was so much fun, and meeting so many ppl. 10 out of 10!

We are a family with two children (19 and 21) and we wanted a good day out and to see a bit more of Bali than just the beaches. The whole day was great - right from the start. We were picked up on time at 8.00 am and our guide Neuman and his driver were both excellent. Once we were free of the traffic around Seminyak we could sit on the roof and enjoy the scenery. We visited a temple, walked for 40 minutes through the most beautiful paddy fields, visited lakes and had a delicious lunch in a local buffet restaurant. We were told to make the Land Rover our home and we did. We drove at breakneck speed through a dense forest (I still don't know how our amazing driver got through the narrow gaps) up and down steep narrow slopes - all the off road driving was great fun. The highlight was probably the canoe trip across a beautiful lake high up in the mountains. We got back at about 5.30 - so it's a full day out. Highly recommended.

What an amazing day, by far the best tour I have done throughout all my travels. I often find day tours to be a little tedious and unauthentic. Not this tour! Bali 4WD tour far exceeded all my expectations. I really felt that I was seeing the hidden side of Bali.

Whilst Seminyak is a lovely place to stay, it is certainly quite hectic, especially with traffic. It was amazing to get out of the hustle and bustle and back to nature. From the beautiful early morning hike through the rice paddies, to riding on top of the 4WD as we wound our way through the jungle, to the walk through the jungle with the enormous trees and the canoe ride across the lake- all aspects of the tour really saw us really getting back to nature. The tranquility, the quiet and the beautiful scenery were all breathtaking.

Our tour guide was warm, friendly, engaging and more than happy to answer all my questions about the rich heritage, culture and religion that Bali has. Our stop off in the middle of the jungle where we had time for a coffee and to sample some local treats was also a highlight. Our guide was very organised with a gas stove and even some camping chairs. When it came time to trek through the jungle we were joined by an additional local guide, who gave us some excellent information about the flora and fauna.

I would happily recommend this day trip to anyone.

We booked this tour after using tripadvisor for advice. We are only in Bali for a week, travelling with children aged 7 and 9 and wanted to fit in a day they would remember and have the chance to learn something about the country and the culture. this trip was excellent for both. our guide Koman and driver Yoyo were both excellent. Informative ( especially about Hindu culture of which we new very little),and keen to share unusual facts. Our son loved the demonstration on how to scare off a Balinese dog!
The trip takes you through the beautiful rice Padi's , where you do a 1 hour easy paced walk. We also visited two temples which were off the usual tourist trail and so very peaceful. Saw monkeys which the children were able to hand feed. We canoed across a lake and took a short walk through rain forest. Lunch was a help yourself buffet at a busy restaurant by a lake.
On our way back to the hotel we stopped at the Luwak coffee farm and we able to try many types of coffee and spice based tea.
During the trip we saw ( and were able to smell/taste) cocoa, lemon balm, garlic, ginger, lime, vanilla, cinammon, chilli, turmeric, banana and coffee.
Best bit- getting to sit on the roof of the landrover as we drove through the Padi's and rainforest. The kids loved it!
I would recommend this trp for anyone who likes to get off the beaten track but it is a long day and probably not suitable for very young children.

the 4wd tour was fantastic, sitting on top of the jeep going through the rice fields, waving to all the locals, stopping at a temple to have a coffee and some Balinese cake with our guide Komang. Then walking through the rice paddies so refreshing and quiet. Amazing lunch at a restaurant opposite Lake Bedugal, then on to a jungle track to do some 4 wheel driving. Unfortunately the weather was to bad for us to walk through the jungle and do the canoeing on the lake, on the way back to Kuta we stopped at a coffee place and done some tea and coffee tasting trying the luwak coffee. All in all a great day with a very knowledgeable guide, teaching us about the culture and life in Bali.Make sure to take walking shoes and a light weight jumper/shirt as it can get quite cool up in the clouds

We booked this tour through Bali Made tours and our guide Alex and driver picked us up right on time from our hotel.

Alex was brilliant, a very kind man, very knowledgable and put a lot of effort into the whole day.

I will start by saying if you're not feeling great or you suffer with any type of travel sickness then this is not the tour for you! It's a rough and ready tour!

The 4wd vehicle is a bit retro which we really liked but this does mean it doesn't have air con or any luxuries so make sure you're prepared to be a bit hot and bothered. They take the roof off so you can stand up and take in the surroundings which is good fun!

The tour takes you through proper rural villages and up to the rice fields at Jatiluwih which are stunning. We had a quick hike through and then they took the vehicle through the jungle. This was proper off-roading with the truck at tipping point some of the time and only just narrow enough to fit through the trees either side. The driver was really skilled!

We stopped in the forest and they bought out camping chairs and made us coffee which was a really nice break. We then carried on up through the mountains to stop for lunch. We must have stopped at a different restaurant than advertised as we didn't have a view but it was a decent sized buffet.

The tour then took us across to the twin lakes in the North and we then did a short trek with a local guide through the forest to the lake and got to see some really old trees on the way. An older local lady came out of nowhere and she and the guide then took us across the lake in some canoos to the other side where the truck was waiting for us again. On the lake the proper heavy rain started and they did give us plastic to cover us but the rain was very very heavy. This added to the experience but be prepared for all weather.

On the way back to the hotel the truck stopped at a local fruit stall and a coffee plantation. I would be very careful at these places as you're very much under pressure to buy things here. We did buy some coffee and later realised we'd paid about 4x the price we should have! The coffee plantation was interesting and worth a visit but be wary of the shop at the end.

All in all we've given this tour a 5 because we felt it was a bit different to other tours, the 4wd truck was definitely an experience, the guide and driver were very attentive and we did visit some very rural and local villages. The tour was let down by the last few stops where we felt a bit conned and also the lunch wasn't the best.

Advice is - be prepared, take all weather gear you don't mind getting dirty, plenty of water and be resilient if under pressure to buy!

I found out about this tour through TripAdvisor when looking for activities that both my boyfriend and I would like and we agreed on this one.

I arranged everything while I was still in Australia, maybe a month before we arrived in Bali. Booking was easy, all online. At the time of booking we were asked to pay a deposit of $50usd, payable via PayPal. We paid the remaining balance at the end of the trip in rupees. Overall, I found this tour to be quite pricey but there aren't many other companies offering the same kind of tour. However, the price paid includes all expenses for the day such as lunch, parking fees, entrance fees, snacks, tea/coffee etc. which was convenient. We had dietary requirements and let them know beforehand so they could accommodate for this, which they did.

This trip is very different to any of the private day tours you can book into. We had a tour guide (who spoke English very well and was really knowledgable) and a driver. They both arrived on time which was great. After we got out of the main roads and into the villages we were allowed to sit on the roof of the 4wd which was honestly one of the highlights of the trip. It was the best way to take in our surroundings and see the breathtaking views. We stopped at a huge rice field, and walked amongst the crops. We had a coffee break in the Forrest, lunch was at a small cafe overlooking the twin lakes. We then drove down to the twin lakes where we walked through the Forrest and took a canoe back to the car.

What I really appreciated about this tour was the fact that it is very much out of the hustle and bustle of the city. The tour guide was fantastic and accompanied us throughout the whole day, never leaving our side.

These 4wd tours are run through "Bali Made" who also offer other tours. Worth checking out their website and booking in all your other drivers through them. That's what we did and we found it easier to keep all our bookings through the one company instead of all different ones.

Thank you Bali Made Tours this was an awesome day tour with Nyoman and Made. Nyoman was an interesting man who has so much culture to share, he is definitely at one with his Balinese roots. We enjoyed seeing how rice is planted, we ate sugarcane and guava along our walk and we had morning tea along the track tasted Balinese muffins as we called them and a cup of tea. Made who is learning English tried his best to converse with us ( I hope he masters the art of words with the letter F in them soon lol) it's so hard to come up with my favourite part of the tour but the children in the villages waving and saying hello was beautiful. The view of the lakes the photo opportunities along the road, in the rainforest and of the temples were great. It was raining when we got to the rainforest but raincoats were provided as well as a good stick to help you when going along the track to the remains of a temple dating back to the 1300's a very spiritual place. The boat ride across the lake was so peaceful and the temple on the shore was magnificent. The luncheon along the way was an all you can eat it was lovely as too the waiters who cracked us up with their Aussie accents of G'day Mate and Aussie Aussie Aussie to which we replied oi, oi, oi was priceless. Cold water was carried in the 4WD and also we tasted buluan, Aceh a fruit that was yum. We made an enquiry on line and had a reply within minutes, we were picked up on time and the boys were absolute gentlemen ( we were 2 middle aged ladies) who opened doors and helped us along the way. If you don't do anything else while your in Bali you must do this tour and see that Bali isn't just shopping, cities, beaches and sunsets although these are also great the country side is spectacular.

        Many thanks

Bali Made Tours and Nyoman and Made.

We had a surprise birthday celebration in the Bedugal rainforest which the tour guide mentioned that we were the first to organise this. The 4WD was super cool as it had to navigate in the rainforest terrains, at some point in time, we were also driving at 45 degrees tilted to one side! Everything went well apart from some monsoon rainfalls which had shortened our trip. Nevertheless, we will be back again with this company for more adventures!

Coming from Kangaroo Island, where there are a lot of small tour experiences available, we were skeptical about what we would get on this tour!
I'm delighted to say it was a great day. Sure the vehicle was not the newest - but who cares, and it didn't let us down.
We were picked up and dropped off at our villa. It was a full day, but easy.
There for four of us, three never having been out of Australia/New Zealand - I can think of no better way to see Bali outside the resort area.
Tony and Adam, our guide & driver, were excellent.
        Highly recommend. bali4WDtour.com
