          Amazing Lobong Culinary Experience !
The Lobong culinary experience was a joyful and thorough experience that covered the rich culture of bali in a traditional home through their incredible food. All of the ingredients were explained in detail and were fresh with a majority of them being home made and home grown. The food we were introduced to was exceptionally unique and tasty and unlike anything offered by bali restaurants we had visited. Sang Maday was a brilliant instructor who made the evening enjoyable and educational and was happy and knowledgeable to answer any of our many questions. The session also included insight into their life and culture with a tour to their home Temple which was very interesting. Overall I rate it a 10/10 as it depicts Bali's rich culture perfectly with their delicious and unique food.

          Unique and amazing experience!
He took us to the market and explained us a lot about local ingredients, manufactures and traditions. After that we went to his family home and he told us about the history of his place and his community in Ubud. Then we started chopping and cooking various dishes with the help of two of his relatives so everything runs smoothly and finishes at the same time. He got so many interesting things to say about Balinese cooking methods, local flavours and growing up in Balinese culture. I don’t know what was the best part about that day - the outrageously delicious food - being welcomed into a Balinese home - learning about Hinduism and their community - blessing our cooked food with his mother in the family temple … I would give 10 stars if I could!! Terima Kasih to you and your family !!!

          Amazing
We are into our 2nd week in Indonesia and this was by far the highlight of our trip. Going to the market, learning about the way of life for the beautiful people who make this island home, and the amazing food we helped make was such an amazing experience. Thank you for making this experience part of a life time trip!

          Must-do experience
An incredible day with our amazing host Sunday, kicking off at the local markets then back to his stunning 400-year-old family compound to cook up a storm (the garden is breathtaking). We learnt more about Balinese culture during this time than in all our previous trips to Bali. The kids (12, 14) had a blast and got right into the cooking. I would recommend this as a must-do experience in Ubud.

          Amazing Class and Delicious Food!
Incredible and personalized cooking class. We first went to a local market (no tourists) to see all the ingredients we would be playing with. We learned so much about Bali and Bali cooking. My husband and I agree this was the best meal we had in Bali. Amazing experience!

          My highlight of Bali
This was recommended by a friend and WOW it was the highlight of my entire Bali trip. Just absolutely amazing. Our tour guide spoke perfect English, we learnt so much about what it is to be Balinese, we got to go into a real authentic, gorgeous Balinese home and the food was incredible. It was so well organised and I would recommend this to anyone and everyone, you won’t be disappointed.

          Amazing experience
Amazing experience Today we joined the Lobong Culinary Cooking class and were absolutely excited about the warm welcoming by the whole family. Picked up at the hotel we visited a local market and learned a lot about spices used in Balinese cuisine. After that we arrived at the family‘s compound and were introduced in Balinese culture as well as in how family life looks like while drinking a coffee and eating some coconut crepes. Then we started the actual cooking class and were taught in preparing an authentic Balinese meal. It was really a lot of fun and an incredible experience! :) Finally the menu prepared on our own was served by the family and we really enjoyed the tasty food! Joining this class is absolutely recommendable - don‘t miss it when you come to Ubud!

          Wonderful day
My wife and I did this cooking course 7 years ago and loved it so, that we did it again. I was hesitant about spending a day of my holiday labouring in a kitchen then but discovered that it was so much more. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to a large local market where many of the local ingredients and customs are explained. This was fascinating. We then went to the hosts home which is stunning with temple and traditional buildings. Just off the main road this is a quiet and serene oasis. Starting with hot drinks many of the family customs and traditions are explained. The cooking is in a open kitchen directed by the hosts brother in law who is a chef. Everything is explained and our job was to prepare and cook a variety of foods under his close supervision. This was relaxed and enjoyable. We then sat with the other guests to a three course meal with choice of drinks. A family business, with hosts that are engaging and speak fluent English this was a wonderful and insightful way to spend the day. We left armed with a recipe book to repeat the menu at home.

          Authentic Cultural Culinary Experience
My teen daughter and myself have experienced top rated cooking classes in both Vietnam and Thailand but this is by far the best we have taken to date. The cooking instruction is superb and very hands on and with Lobong's help we made the best Balinese food we have eaten since arriving. What a lunch! However, the highlight for me was the peak inside real Balinese family life. Sang Made and his family are warm, gracious and welcoming hosts and I thank them for an authentic and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

The best way to learn about Indonesian food and culture
This is a must try for anybody seeking to learn about Indonesian cousin and culture! From the second my family and I were picked up by the family host to we were back on our hotel almost 7 hours later, we felt the most sincere kindness from the whole family. They made a huge effort to tell us everything they know about Indonesian food and culture. And it is needles to say that the food you will be cooking together with the family’s pro chef is mind-blowing delicious! This is so much more than ‘just’ a cooking class and a great way to learn about the Indonesian way of life.

          Amazing food and wonderful host
Brilliant experience from pick up to drop off. The market tour was great and Sang Made has perfect English which made it so much more fascinating when he could understand and answer questions as we went around. We greatly appreciated the personal feel to the day, being welcomed into Sang Made's home and greeted by many different family members. The cooking with Chef Dewa was good, quite simple but enough hands on to keep you occupied. Sang Made gave such intricate details to Bali daily life not seen by so many tourists. Superb morning!

Our first time in Bali, we wanted to immerse ourselves in Balinese culture and a cooking class was the perfect way to do so. Lobong Culinary Experience exceeded all our expectations as it was more than just a cooking class. Sang is such a friendly and charismatic host who took us to the local market to check out the produce and learn about the ingredients. We were one of the few tourists since Bali reopened so it was fun to see what a local celebrity Sang was in the market. Afterwards, we were welcomed to Sang's family compound, which was absolutely immaculate and beautiful, where we learned about the local family traditions. Everyone was so warm and hospitable, we felt like we were home. The cooking class itself was incredible with chef Dewa guiding and teaching us the proper ways to cook rice (steam not boil) along with creating other wonderful dishes that were full of flavor. At the end of it, they gave us a recipe book that we will put to practice when we go back home. We have nothing but great things to say about this cooking class.

This class is amazing! People are friendly and take the time to teach you about Balinese culture, religion, family, and food. It is a very intimate experience learning and cooking in a family home compound. Touring through the market was an awesome experience. My husband and I enjoyed every second. Learning the authentic Balinese recipes was wonderful. Plus there was SOOO much food! Come hungry! This has been a highlight of our 3 week trip to Bali.

Amazing!!! Everything about this experience is just great - from the visit to the market where Made is explaining and showing so many things, to the cooking of the most delicious food in Made‘s incredibly beautiful family home. Having insight in his life and his home was just as nice as the cooking and eating. You will not find a more professional but at the same time so very original and not touristy cooking experience! Highly recommend!!!

This tour by far was the best we experienced. We have experienced many cooking classes, in Italy, in Morocco, and many more, but this one was not only a cooking class but a whole introduction to Bali's way of life, its traditions, what a genuine Balinese house look like and everything else which goes with it. The chef was a proud young gentleman with tons of knowledge about the ingredients used in Balinese cousin by taking us to an authentic Balinese market place and spending ample time showing us, letting us to taste and answering our questions about all the herbs and greeneries they use in their everyday cooking.

He was so organized and prepared during the class and led us step by step during the cooking session. At the end we had more than enough time to enjoy the meal we had cooked all by ourselves, which was after he thought us about their tradition of offerings first.

We are confident that with any background you may have, if you are genuinely interested in learning cousins from other countries, your taste will be completely satisfied after you take this tour.

The best cooking and cultural class of my life!! I already lived in Bali for one month in the past and had been in Bali for my second time for two weeks already, but I learned so many things I didn't know about in just my few short hours with Sang Made and his sweet family. I highly recommend this experience (it's truly and experience not just a cooking class) if you want to learn more about Balinese food and culture.

What an amazing day learning about Balinese life, family, religion, culture and food! My wife, sister and I met our host at the local farmer’s market at about 8am, after the real rush of morning business, to learn about the various fruits, vegetables, seasonings, herbs, etc., used in Balinese cooking. After our tour of the market and small purchases, we went to our host’s family home and we spent the day preparing an appetizer soup, entree and dessert. After the ritual offerings at the home temple, we had a lovely meal and enjoyed our various creations. We highly recommend spending a half a day if you have any inkling that you’d like to learn more about Bali and the Balinese people!

An endearing and knowledgeable introduction to Balinese culture and cooking. After a tour of the morning market in a nearby village, we were allowed into the private home, where several generations live, to help prepare and cook a Balinese meal together with other family members. We really enjoyed this and learned a lot about ingredients and spices. It was particularly nice that we were allowed to accompany our host's mother during the ritual sacrifice that took place before lunch.

We went to the market in the morning, then we were warmly welcomed in Sang’s house and cooked for a couple of hours before having an excellent meal. He’s going to tell you everything about the culture in Bali and the food, and you can ask him anything: he’ll be more than welcome to answer. He and his family are the most sweetest people we ever met!!! Please go there if you have the chance to!! 🙏🏻😍
