My wife and I were in Bali to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Although we are amateur photographers, at best, we decided to book 3 days of photo tours with David's company. It was the absolute smartest decision of our trip! We spent 3 days, spread over our 8-day stay on Bali, with Inyoman Pujowan. He is a wonderful Balinese man -- one of the kindest and most enthusiastic people you could ever imagine. He was the mayor of Bali -- and helped us get photo shots that we otherwise never would have encountered or been brave enough to attempt. Although not planned as part of our activity, Nyoman graciously welcomed us into his family compound for lunch twice. His wife, Wayman, was just as lovely as he is. They lent us their own clothing so that we might blend in more naturally at the spectacular Hindu ceremonies that Nyoman selected for us. These outings were the utter highlight of our trip. The villagers were welcoming and allowed us to intrude without making us feel self conscious. This was a photographer's dream. I used a basic Canon Powershot and my wife used her iPhone XR. Nyoman helped both of us master features on our cameras that we didn't know existed. We visited markets, volcanos, bone carvers, wood carvers, a batik and silver jewelry factory, and scenic parks. This was the best activity of our trip. We would do it again in a millisecond. Don't hesitate just because you may not be a serious photographer.

I booked a last minute day trip and I wasn’t sure if they’ll accommodate me as it was also peak season. David’s team responded quickly as I was able to book a photography trip with them. I got picked up early early to catch the sunrise. Nyoman was very helpful in showing me tips and tricks in how to use my camera. We also interacted with the locals and had to a chance to take their portraits. We got lucky enough to see a Cremation ceremony at Eha Tampaksiring village. What a neat experience! I came home with lots of wonderful photos. Thank you so much Nyoman for going above and beyond to give us an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for the kind words and we are so happy to hear about your wonderful experience with us. I believe we have a really great team here of dedicated Balinese who are so proud of their culture and making sure the customer gets to experience something of their daily lives and the opportunity to capture that through a camera lens. Would love to see you back in beautiful Bali again

I fully admit I am something of an addict as far as David’s photo tours go. While already something of a (part time) local, I could not resist doing my third!! Like the others, this tour offered new sights and insights about both Bali and photography that I would not have gained on my own. This time I was lucky enough to get David himself as my guide for the first time. I got my best yet sunrise shots, and some great opportunities to photograph and chat with locals wending their way to work just as the sun rose. I had been to the market before, but really only on these tours, and love it as it is a truly local affair. David’s team has built up excellent relationships with the people there. That, combined with the fact the market has not (yet) been inundated with tourists and the locals’ generousity, makes it easy to feel accepted there and capture very natural images (although I do recommend buying something there, like fruit, just to support them and not just be a spectator). As has happened on both previous occasions, we got word through David’s contacts in the market of a local ceremony. While we only caught people as they were dispersing, we managed to get shots of a couple of families in ceremonial garb - Again, no foreigners in sight. But the planned photo shoot of an old man (posing and unposed) in his little farming hut was the highlight. I got great tips about portrait photography from David. (I only did the half day, but can fully recommend the extended version too. As well as other stop offs, it includes lunch in a local compound - when I went, with authentic, family entertainment. This of course offered more great photo opportunities. It is particularly interesting for those, like me at that time, who have had limited exposure to compound life in Bali).
