Had brilliant fun on this hike, with spectacular views! Made all the better by our excellent guide Amy who had so much knowledge on the surrounding area and was a pleasure to deal with!

We completed the Mount Batur sunrise hike today and couldn't recommend it more! The day started by being picked up by Arjana to be driven to the mountain. He was so nice and gave us a lot of good info on what to do in Bali.

Upon arrival at the mountain, we were greeted by our guide Wayan. He made sure we were having fun and feeling ok the entire way up. At the top he provided us with coffee and a nice breakfast. Once the sun had risen, Wayan was there to take all the amazing photos you want from an expedition like this! the whole way down he was taking us to the coolest spots to make sure we had the best memories of our trip.

Thanks again!

This morning we did the sunrise hike with our tour guide Nick. I definitely underestimated how difficult this would be, our guide Nick was really encouraging and helpful even holding my hand to help me in the difficult parts. I would definitely recommend this experience and company to anyone looking for a bit of a challenge. The view at the top makes all the hard work worth it for sure! Pictures just dont do it justice!

We booked our hike of the Mount Batour with Ubud Sunrise Hiking and it was perfect!
We booked it the day before via WhatsApp, the team is super quick to reply to you and give you all the information necessary for the trek.
We got picked up at our hotel at 2:30am sharp, drove for an hour in the night and arrived at the bottom of Mount Batour, there we got put in contact with our guide, Nick, who accompanied us trough this journey. Nick is AMAZING ! Always offering help, water and giving helpful tips during the hike as well as a lot of information about the volcano. You can decide which way you like to pursue, the « easiest » one or the hard but quicker one. With ambition we decided to go for the tough one ! It was indeed tough, walking on rocks and very slippery ground but definitely worth it. The other path is apparently super crowded and surrounded by motorbikes.
We arrived a little before the sunrise, which was amazing because we got time to sit down and prepare ourself for the beautiful sunset we were about to see. The sky was an absolute wonder, we got served a little breakfast with hot drinks and mostly banana (fresh banana, hot banana sandwiches, boiled eggs & chocolate bars).
Nick offered to take some pictures of us which are wonderful, in addition to be a great and funny guide he is also an amazing photographer !
After the breakfast we got to see the gardiens of the Mount Batour, the monkeys ! We then went a little bit further up to see the water evaporation from the volcano ! The views are incredible !
We then decided it was time go down, we took the “easiest” path to go down which wasn’t so easy, going down was almost, not really, the hardest part, after the thrive of the hike and sunset we really couldn’t wait for the next step... arriving at the bottom we had to say our goodbye to Nick, sad part of the story but we will definitely contact him for more hikes. Our driver was waiting for us in the parking lot, we drove a few minutes and arrived at the natural hot springs of Mount Batour. “après l’effort, le réconfort” as we would say in French is was really well deserved! The baths we super hot and very relaxing after this long journey, we got offered some healthy drinks. We finally decided to meet our driver who took us back to our hotel.

THANK YOU UBUD SUNRISE HIKING FOR AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE !
We definitely recommend this organisation if you ever which to take a chance at climbing that big rock !

We did our tour with Nick who I could not recommend enough. He was amazing and made sure we stopped for rests when needed and even took my friends backpack and offered her some food when he saw she was struggling. He was knowledgable and informative, made sure to take lots of photos for us as well which was great.
The sunrise was the most amazing sunrise I've ever experienced, well worth the hike.

I can highly recommend booking the hike. It was a stunning view and the guide Wayan made sure everyone arrived safely and provided some breakfast up on the vulcano (sandwiches, chocolate bar, egg and hot drink.) He took lots of pictures of us and was very kind!

You can find this tour cheaper - what I liked, though, was that we received hiking sticks, which helped climbing up. The arrival of the driver at 2:30am was on time. He was extremely kind as well!
We were a group of three and similar in pace. This we had an hour before the sun started rising. It was beautiful to arrive before all the other groups came up with their torches and noises.
All in all, I would always do it again!

We were picked up promptly by our driver Kadek who drove us to the base.

Our guide Wayan was great and very informative. The hike itself was difficult in places with steep inclines but totally worthwhile once you reached the top and saw the sunrise. Wayan made sure to get the best spot and was more than happy to take photos. It gets very cold at the top, so make sure to bring warm clothing.

We then visited the hot spring which again was great and had a lovely view of the lake.

Kadek then took us to the coffee plantation where we were shown around and got to try a variety of different types of coffees and chocolates.

Overall we had a great experience and although it is an early start followed by a long day it is definitely worthwhile.

We decided for our last day in Bali, we’d climb Mt.Batur to experience the Balinese sunrise. It was an amazing experience and it’s something I would recommend to everyone who gets a chance to do this. We had a personal driver in Bali who arranged Mt.Batur for us. We paid about $80CAD/person.You could also book the hike yourself by contacting a well known guide or through your hotel - you may be better price this way. We heard other couples paid $50CAD/person.

Our driver picked us up from our hotel at 1am local time (we stayed in Seminyak) and picked up two other couples in Ubud. The drive from Seminyak to Mt.Batur is about 2 hours, give or take, depending on traffic. We were provided a small breakfast (coffee and a banana pancake) prior to arriving at the base camp of Mt.Batur. Once at the base camp, you are told to use the washroom if needed since there are none when climbing up/down Mt.Batur. They charge a small fee of 2000 rupiah to use the washroom. Our tour guide then handed us our breakfast to eat at the top of the mountain (1 boiled egg, 1 piece of toast, 1 banana and 1 water bottle) and a flashlight since you’ll be climbing in the dark. Highly recommend bringing a small backpack that can close and extra water (backpacks need to be closed since there will be wild monkeys on the volcano that will steal any loose bags, since they are looking for food).

The hike was relatively easy (2 hours), with some areas that were more challenging than others (i.e., loose rocks, steep climb up/down at some points) but nothing unmanageable. There are plenty of stopping points and of course, you can tell your guide when you need a break. Our tour guide was great, she always mapped the easiest routes for us to take and was always there to provide extra support when climbing down. Her name is Ayu Dila and I highly, highly recommend making the climb with her! She really knows her stuff and made our experience that much better. However, no matter how great your guide is, it’s important to wear proper hiking shoes and bring a sweater for when you reach the top since it will be a little colder. Long pants/shorts are fine.

Once we reached the top, we waited about 30 mins for sun rise and it was incredible!!! On the way down, we also go to feel some rocks that were warm and made a stop at the crater since Mt.Batur is an active volcano. It was pretty cool!

Overall, Mt.Batur was one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend booking with Ayu! Safe travels!

The hike up Mount Batur was definitely worth the 2am alarm. We set off for the viewpoint at 3.30am where our small group of 6 met our guide Ayu. Ayu was a great guide who set a good pace and gave regular breaks when needed. It took about 2.5 hours up to the top and I felt safe and in good spirits with Ayu leading our group. We reached the top at about 6am, where we had a small breakfast and watched the sunrise.

- The hike was quite difficult and steep at times, however there is a lower viewpoint if you are struggling, so any healthy person should be able to reach the top.

We were guided by our awesome guide Ayu and it was the most joyful hike. She put us at a suitable and evenly quick pace good for all of us. Took breaks when needed. Hike can be difficult and the rocks are slippery at time but anyone can do it, if you put your mind to it and are in healthy condition! The top of the mountain we had a nice little breakfast and visited and took photos as the sun came up. Awesome start to the morning and well worth waking up at 2am to get there and get up the mountain in time. Absolutely breathtaking. Thanks Ayu for guiding us today! :)
