We had a fantastic 5D/4N tour of East Java including Borobudur and Prambanan temples in Yogya, train ride to Surabaya, Malang, Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, Bromo and plantation near Kalibaru. At the end we were transfered to our destination in Sanur, Bali. The whole trip was tailored to our wishes, all accomodations were very good standard and all transfers nicely arranged. We were picked up in Malang by our wonderful driver. We then moved to Mt Bromo hotel which was great. We took a walking tour of the village which was gorgeous. Our Bromo tour guide was also amazing (Ecobel). Starting at 230am in the cold was tough but Ecobel made the journey as comfortable as possible we watched the sunrise from a viewing spot, taking many photos. We then drove to the parking lot of Mt Bromo and chose not to take a horse ride (looks cruel the horses seem over worked) the walk and climb up to the crater was tough but doable! Overall a great experience. We returned to our hotel from breakfast then on to Mt Ijen. 5hrs drive with a gorgeous lunch by the sea. Ijen is a harder walk than Bromo but absolutely stunning. Thank you Cahyo for organising and managing our tour perfectly!!!! Our ferry and drive to Ubud was seamless.

I booked this trip via email - I started from Kuta at 6:30pm and took a drop at Lovina next day around 1pm. Cahyo is excellent - he is very warm and hospitable. I could sense the same even when I was discussing the trip with him. He not only helped me with the Mount Ijen visit but also gave me tips on other bits of Indonesia. Also, I thoroughly enjoyed speaking to him on the local culture and other issues. He is very knowledgeable and understands cultural aspects about the Javanese and Balinese people very well. His English is also perfect. Cahyo organized a trip for only me. A driver picked me from my hotel in Kuta at 6:30pm and drove me to the Gilimanuk ferry point. The driver was polite and well mannered and car was also in good condition. On the way, we stopped for a light dinner at a small Indonesian joint which was okay given highways in Bali don't have too many options. And this anyway doesn't matter much given one has to trek in the night. Cahyo met me at the Gilimnauk ferry point and gave me lot of water bottles. We reached Banyuwangi in an hour and again a well maintained AC car took us to the start point of the Mount Ijen Trek. My Guide (Andi) was very helpful..at one point I was almost giving up, but he took my hand and helped me right through the trek and luckily we got to see some patches of blue fire. Post the sunrise, Andi also helped me by clicking some amazing pictures. We reached back to the trek point by around 7am and i was exhausted. Cahyo probably realized the same and which is why he took me to a very nice resort (5 star property) for a sumptuous buffet breakfast. After the breakfast, Cahyo again accompanied me in the ferry ride back to Gilimanuk. Again, there was a nice and comfortable AC car waiting for us which dropped me to my hotel in Lovina. If I ever visit Indonesia again, I would surely catch up with Cahyo and may be do the Mount Bromo trek with him. Usually my overseas trips is the relaxing kind, scenery with not too much walking, shopping and eating, lots of eating. Then I signed up for this ijen and bromo hiking trip- my first one, with my wife and 6 other friends, totally not knowing what to expect despite reading the itinerary a few times. The moment we touched down in Surabaya, our friendly guide, Cahyo, greeted us. He is really professional and patient, the patient part immediately seen when he waited for us after we told him we wanted to eat some food at the airport. The entire trip was as smooth as one could ever hope, barely any hiccups, besides the uncontrollable traffic conditions. Cahyo filled us in with his immense general knowledge about the area Bromo, Ijen and Surabaya in general. He was extremely accommodating to his 8 hungry clients, often offering to help us communicate with staff and translate many of the items on the menu. Cahyo provided all the additional items required such as gas masks and head lights so we do not need to make extra purchases. The trip was tiring with seemingly endless up(or down slope depending on the direction u are heading to), uneven paths or "paths" that somehow you need to scale across, and waking up in the wee hours with barely enough sleep. However, it was extremely satisfying and rewarding once you get to see the view or you look back and saw how much you conquered just to get to that ijen crater. And the trip was made even more fun and entertaining thanks to my friends and definitely the hard work of Cahyo, on the ground and behind the scenes as well. Whether it is your first hiking trip or you are a seasoned veteran but somehow have not tried Bromo/Ijen, I really highly recommend visiting Surabaya to you and engaging in Cahyo's excellent services for a tiring but rewarding trip without having to worry about anything because everything will be well taken care of.

I had many "first" this trip and i am thankful to have Cahyo as our guide! First hiking trip overseas, first time hiking in the dark, first time going so close to a volcano, first time sitting on a bike (abit noobie but yes, i have never sat on a motorbike before), first time going under a waterfall. We were not very prepared for the trip and didnt know what to expect but thankfully our guide got us all covered! He provided headlights and gas masks for us as we climb up Ijen Crater. He engaged another local guide to assist as we hike up Ijen. He was always the last man to ensure no one gets left in the dark. He was also very knowledgable about everything, from geography to history to chemistry! I went with a group of 8 people, who loves to take photos and eat. But Cahyo was very accommodating and attentive to our needs. For every meal, he will be around as we order our food to ensure that our orders are right. Had a really great experience! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 👍

My group of friends and I had an amazing time in Bromo/Ijen and it definitely would not have been this enjoyable and smooth without our knowledgeable guide Cahyo and also our skilful driver! Throughout the trip, Cahyo was accommodating to all our needs (even when we needed multiple food/toilet breaks) and always waited patiently for us. He was also very helpful - he would take the initiative to help us with reading and understanding the menu and communicating with the locals even when we did not explicitly ask for help. We really appreciated that :) The trip itself was smooth, with a comfortable vehicle suited for my group size of 8 people, as well as well-chosen accommodation rooms. Of course the hiking of Ijen/Bromo were not as easy for some of us, but he still ensured that all of us could enjoy the stunning views offered by both places. My friends and I (group of 8) booked a 4D3N tour with Cahyo. Got his contact from a friend's recommendation. Best decision ever! Here's an outline of the whole planning process: 1. Contact Cahyo (I did it via WhatsApp) to ask for quotation (which I think is one of the most competitive around!) 2. Confirm your flight details and inform him 3. Pay an initial 25% of the total cost via bank transfer - which I think is reasonable to confirm your booking. The remaining to be paid in cash when you arrive. 4. Nothing else! All accomodations/bookings etc settled by him! Just arrive! Here's a breakdown of our itinerary: Day 1 - Arrive Surabaya Juanda Airport about 10am. Cahyo was already there to pick us up. Drive 8-9 hours (depending on traffic, lunch stop in between) all the way to hotel in Banyuwangi. Sleep for a few hours. Day 2 - Depart 1am and head to Ijen (1hr drive). Hike up and then down to volcanic crater if you wish. Back to hotel for breakfast and to wash up after Ijen tour. Then drive to hotel in Mt Bromo area (6-7 hrs drive with lunch stop in between). Sleep. Day 3 - Depart 3.30am for jeep drive to sunrise at King Kong hill. After sunrise, head to Mt Bromo entrance. Back to hotel for breakfast and to wash up after Bromo tour. Drive to Madakaripura Waterfall (about 1-2 hours), then tour. Drive to hotel in Surabaya (about 4-5 hours with lunch stop in between). Sleep. Day 4 - Depart for airport. Here's a list of all things wonderful about the tour: - Cahyo was very professional; took good care of our safety throughout the hikes. As we were a large group of 8, he engaged a separate local guide to help in taking care of our safety during the Ijen tour. He also provided headlights and gas masks for us for Ijen tour. - Cahyo is very knowledgeable; explained to us many things ranging from geography to chemistry to history and culture. When asked how he knew all these, he said he learnt them on his own! - Cahyo is super helpful e.g. as we have issues with the language, Cahyo went to the extent of making sure he was there every time we placed our orders during lunch and dinner, to translate the menu cor us and ensure what we ordered was accurate! - Cahyo was the guide and there was a separate driver, who is an AMAZING driver (we must admit our hearts stopped a few times when we saw him overtaking cars - but he was always on point and made sure we got to our destinations on time!) - Really hassle free, everything was planned well and mostly included in the tour price. Some excluded prices are the entrance tickets to Bromo and Ijen, and your own expenditure for lunch, dinner, shopping etc. Here's a brief review of the hotels: - Standard hotels were booked, all came with basic amenities (towel, shampoo, soap, toothbrush) and buffet breakfast (which is AMAZING after your Bromo and Ijen workouts) - Ijen area: Ketapang Indah hotel. Nice resort feel, comfortable and spacious. Good! - Mt Bromo: Bromo Permai hotel. Basic hotel, don't expect too much since its in the mountains. Hot shower takes time to work (understandable in the mountains) or sometimes may run out. Otherwise it's clean and comfortable. - Surabaya: Ibis hotel. Soo thankful for the amazing hot shower, clean, spacious and comfortable hotel! All in all, if you're looking for a reliable tour for your Java trip, please engage the services of Cahyo. He's so super professional and helpful and speaks great English. No problems communicating at all. Cahyo, thank you so much for everything once again! This is my second time to Ijen and Bromo, but first time engaging this company. I had an even better experience this time because of the tour guide Cahyo. He is very knowledgeable and shared a lot about volcanoes and the caldera surrounding Bromo. He always cares for our welfare and made sure we have enough food, drinks and toilet breaks. He even brought my group to a sunrise view point at King Kong Hill which is better than my first trip. After Bromo he also brought us to Madakaripura waterfall where we took tons of stunning picture. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Biggest thumbs up for Cahyo (and his expert partner driver)!

We have done a 3 day and 2 night tour through Bromo and Ijen with Cahyo (Juan for us) and it has been great. The volcanoes are fantastic and the views spectacular, but undoubtedly the best has been the guide! We did the tour from Surabaya to Bromo, Ijen and Bali. The places were amazing and we had no problem. The guide unfortunately, said nothing for 3 days so we were a bit disappointed. Maybe, with another guide, we will have appreciated more.
