About
Galle is the regulatory capital of the Southern Territory and the fourth biggest city in Sri Lanka. Before the appearance of the Portuguese in the sixteenth century, Galle was the principal port on the island and has arrived at the tallness of its improvement in the eighteenth century during the Dutch provincial time frame.

Itinerary
- 10 Lighthouse St, Galle 80000, Sri LankaGuide will meet you Infront of National Tea Room, Galle Fort
- 1The natural harbor of Galle was famous as far back as 1400 BC. At that time it was one of the main ports in the world from which cinnamon was exported. The arrival of the Portuguese marked a change in the history of the town. The initial earth and palisade fort built by the Portuguese were expanded on by the Dutch, after their takeover of the Portuguese assets in the 17th century. They also built many other buildings for administration and residency. Today much of the Dutch fort still stands, contradicting the ravages of time. You will be able to climb up to the ramparts of the fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and walk through the streets. Your host will also take you on a tour to the museums, history of Galle and its harbor and Galle lighthouse which was built by the British. Along the way, you will take a break with a cup of fine Ceylon Tea or a refreshing drink of King Coconut milk.

- Laura M0 contributionsWas fun, would repeatDriver was enthusiastic and friendly. We had the jeep just for ourselves. We didn't see many elephants, but the driver spotted many other different animals, like a bear mama and her cub.Written 8 March 2025

- rashu20250 contributionsWild life watching safari in WilpattuIt was fantastic as we saw a bear, two leopards. Deer.and all the animals we wanted to see.the driver Pasindu was so keen to show us different parts of the jungle.super excited.thank you Travceylon Leisure for making unforgettable safari.Written 20 February 2025
- sashu0260 contributionsWe saw almost nothingUnfortunately it was bad experience. We didn’t see a lot of animals, just a jew deers, monkeys, couple of foxes and eagle what is not a reason to go that far away. Beside that our guides were useless: that didn’t speak english, didn’t explain anything about the nature, didn’t get the water for us, and buy 3 entrance tickets instead of 4. So we just spent 4 hours shaking in the dusty car. My boyfriend were sleeping cause it was boring and nothing to see. We didn’t get any compensation from this guys, only apologies.Written 20 February 2025
- Jade S0 contributionsAmazing safari!!!We went to Wilpattu National Park for a safari and had an amazing experience! We met our jeep driver at the gate and were promptly on our way. We were provided with bottled water and king coconuts at the rest stop. We saw so many animals and birds despite taking the afternoon tour. And lucky us!!! We saw two leopards and a bear sloth!! We highly recommend this tour.Written 20 February 2025

- edwinc7690 contributionsHighly recommended!I booked pick-up from an airport hotel, and despite some concerns about the distance, I found it to be a fairly easy journey—definitely not too far in my opinion. If you're debating whether it's worth the trip, I'd say go for it! Sigiriya rock is stunning, much better than I was expecting My guide, Christo, was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about the area. He made sure to stop at multiple interesting spots along the way, which really added to the experience. It wasn’t just a straight A-to-B trip; we got to soak in a lot of different sights, which I really appreciated. One thing to keep in mind: if you’re doing the village tour, expect that everyone you meet will anticipate a tip. It’s not a bad thing—just something to be aware of so you have small bills ready. It’s part of the experience, and honestly, many of the people we met were lovely and made the stops feel worthwhile. Overall, a great experience, especially thanks to Christo’s guiding. If you’re looking for a well-paced tour with plenty of interesting stops, this one is definitely worth considering.Written 11 February 2025
- martindE7613ZN0 contributionsGreat day out with non-stop breathtaking views. However, I had to pay for a la carte lunch for me and the driver. The highlight was, of course, the train journey (one way only to be clear) with amazing views. The journey back by car was also scenic and took in a number of sites, e.g. waterfalls, tea plantation tour, park and gardens in Nuwara Eliya. The driver was flexible in terms of what I wanted to do/see. One note of caution - the driver suggested lunch and he took me to a restaurant for a sit-down, a la carte meal. He asked for the bill which was presented to me for payment for the both of us. I did not expect this nor had budgeted for it.Written 6 February 2025
- W2010EZhollyb0 contributionsWaterfalls, tea tasting and trainsWe had a great time! There were lots of stops on the way to stretch your legs and see some amazing views. Was well organised and they took extra care to made sure we got the correct train from the station.Written 5 February 2025
- elliefG2019DQ0 contributionsLots of elephantsAn amazing experience in January 2025, we saw lots of elephants. Very clear communication on pick up and booking. Great value for money and would recommend for anyone. Car was very clean and comfy.Written 27 January 2025
- darrendS2326HF0 contributionsA Great TourA great tour. The ruins were very interesting, but the highlight was climbing up Yapahuwa Rock Fortress. Our driver Christopher was excellent.Written 26 January 2025
- N3872NDkatee0 contributionsAmazing afternoon seeing elephantsThey messaged us to say we would be going to Hurulu eco park instead as that's where the elephants were at the moment, and asked if that was still ok with us. We said yes and had a great afternoon seeing elephants on multiple occasions. Saw over 20 in total, including a tiny baby. Our driver was great at getting us good viewing spots whilst being respectful of the elephants and others. We also had the option to stop a couple of times and walk up to some viewing points to get a great 360 view of the park. Great value definitely recommend.Written 25 January 2025

Spent a very enjoyable couple of hours walking round Galle Fort. We learned a lot about the long history and culture of the Fort and Sri Lanka too. It made our stay even better as we were aware of the heritage of the place around every corner. Seeing the turtles was an unexpected bonus. It was an easy (if hot) walk and I would recommend it to anyone
