- 1TravelerAdventure0 contributionsBeautiful old days cityKilwa Masoko is a charming destination that offers both historical intrigue and natural beauty. The rich history of the area, with its ancient ruins and significance as a former Swahili trading port, is fascinating to explore. The serene beach adds to the experience, providing a peaceful and picturesque spot to relax and enjoy the views. It’s a perfect blend of culture, history, and coastal tranquility, making it a great place to visit for those interested in both heritage and nature.Written 19 January 2025

- Daydream418410385990 contributionsWonderful time on the rugged trails in TanzaniaThis is the review for the 5-day African Pangolin Safaris visiting Mikumi and Nyerere park. We are a group of 12 travelers in the mid 50s to the 70s from Montreal, Canada, experiencing the first so called safari in Tanzania. We are fortunate to have signed up with this band of brothers (seriously two brothers Mansour and Yunus) who led us through the rugged terrain of Tanzania national parks for 5 days in two Toyota LandCruiser with pop-up tops. There was apprehension in the group at the beginning of the quest when we were to give up the comfort of city life for the dusty trails. It seemed that the brothers could read our mind, stopped at the right time for nature calls, picked the best lunch spots in the middle of nowhere that were accentuated by some memorable spots such as the humongous baobab tree that smugglers used the hollow trunk as a hideout from the law in recent pasts. They arranged the most convenient lunches midday at a stop when we were prearranged to bypass the long line of customers at a buffet that provided delicious local food. That's a privilege appreciated by the weary travelers who looked for a cool spot to rest the battered body. It took awhile for the group to get in sync with the operation focusing on the big five animals of the territory, bouncing "aimlessly" through endless pathways at idle pace, ... and suddenly, here we were switching into what seemed like neck breaking pace on the not so smooth trails when, over the radio, there was a "point of interest" that turned out to be two full grown lions taking a nap by the roadside, oblivious to the presence of the uninvited guests. Observing the majestic animals (giraffes, Wildebeest, hippos, .. ) along with birds in the wild made the trip worth while. We have first hand view of the African Eagle to compare to our Canadian bald eagle. The brothers will not hesitate charging through narrow passages that made us cringe when tree branches gave the sides of the vehicles a brush job that will require serious detailing to remove the scars off the paint. The brothers provided ample of time to take in the scenery without feeling pressed for time, an undeniable quality felt and can hardly quantified. It was a well paced program allowing the group to enjoy the ruggedness of nature, get the questions answered which revealed the in-depth knowledge of the professional guides. That was an educational experience that I personally appreciate. The brothers were patient, courteous, friendly throughout the long days searching for the best spots, the most unique scenes, answering multitudes of questions with facts and back story, contrasting the calmness when traversing the rugged terrain that required technical skills to overcome. The food choice was excellent, blending local cooking with some traditional western dishes that help balance the adventure with home cooking. Banda bungalow Selous was top in the group's mind. In all, I would be amiss not admitting the overload of sensation during the 5-day adventure. The recall is spotty at best but the memory etched deep in this memorable vacation. There are not enough words to thank Yunus and big brother Mansour to make this safari a wonderful possibility. They are a big factor in making this vacation a success. Now, we have plenty of time to peruse the photo collection for a recall of the many details of past events and relive the adrenaline-packed five-day adventure. The group is very happy to have chosen African Pangolin Safari and we were amply rewarded. The big brother Mansour is discretely a bit stricter than Yunus on when to stand while the vehicle is moving, I later found out. Well, all is in the name of safety for all aboard and we appreciate it. Thank you Mansour and Yunus. 'til the next time.Written 11 October 2024

- jenniferpM4885UZ0 contributionsPhenomenal experience with Victor with Pangolin SafarisI cannot emphasize this enough: Your Safari Guide Matters. They will really make or break your Safari experience since they are not only shuttling you around from place to place, but also spotting animals for you to see and keeping you safe throughout your entire trip. If they do not have the experience or knowledge, your trip will suffer. We just came back from our Safari trip with Victor from Pangolin Safaris and it was so clear how much more experience Victor had in comparison to the other drivers from other Safari companies we encountered. The major callouts I want to highlight are: 1. Network of Guides Victor has 20+ years of experience as a Safari Guide and with his experience comes an entire network of Guides he's formed a relationships with over the years. You can tell that he's a popular guy and many of the other guides from other companies are good friends with him. This network comes in handy when you're trying to find the animals. Victor will often radio, call, or text his close comrades and they'll let each other know what they've seen. With the help of his network, we were able to get up close and personal with so many animals 10-15 minutes before the crowd of cars got the message and showed up. 2. Catered Experience Every evening when we would be dropped off at our Lodge, Victor would ask us what we wanted to see the following day. Based off of that, he would recommend a time for us to get started. And when we went, without fail, he would deliver on what we wanted. Call it luck or skill but the man is literally a magician. On our last day (since we had quite literally seen everything already -- including the big 5 multiple times), we asked Victor to show us hyenas and vultures feeding. He took us to this remote area where no other Safari cars were seen and sure enough we were able to see multiple sightings of animals feeding -- including over 100 vultures feeding on a dead elephant and a Hyena carrying a fresh zebra leg back to it's den of cubs. It got so ridiculous how much Victor was able to deliver that we started to joke around that we wanted to see Santa Claus and Unicorns. 3. Safety The roads from location to location are 90% unpaved. the condition of your vehicle and the skill of your driver matters. Upon inspection of our car and the many cars around us, we noticed Victor had some of the best & newest tires, new shocks, and all around a sturdier looking vehicle. Oftentimes we would see a car zoom by us on a bumpy road, only to see them broken down and changing a tire 20 minutes later. On another occasion, Victor noticed another driver from a different tour company had a huge bubble in his tire. He told the drive he should pull over and change but the driver refused and asked him not to say anything to his clients. Can you imagine your driver deliberately putting you in danger? This made us realize how lucky we were to have Victor from Pangolin Safaris. He kept us safe and allowed us to maximize our time. Overall, this experience could not have been what it was without Victor from Pangolin Safaris. I'm convinced that he's the #1 Safari Guide in all of Tanzania. His experience in the industry was clearly unmatched as it was noticable that he was a Leader amongst all other guides from all other companies. Thank you so much Pangolin Safaris for making the booking process so effortless and thank you Victor for a truly unforgettable experience!Written 29 August 2024
- debbielZ9698AF0 contributionsAMAZING Safari Trip!I was recommended going with African Pangolin Safaris to see the Great Migration. Right off the bat, Mansoor impressed me with his professionalism and expertise. He was incredibly knowledgeable and responsive while he helped me plan the perfect itinerary for our trip. We really maximized our time there with fun game drives during the day and luxurious lodgings to relax at in the evenings. Victor our guide, was a magician! We started asking him to find Santa Claus because somehow he was able to find every animal we requested to see. Not only that, he was an extremely skilled driver- the ride was as smooth as the bumpy roads could allow and he was able to finesse the car into the ideal viewing position amidst a crowd of other safari trucks. He was also able to time many animal road crossings perfectly, parking us in the perfect spot to view giant herds of animals pass right in front of our truck multiple times. Watching him strategize where to take us, network with the other guides, and how nature the utmost respect, you can really see his 20+ years of experience and the pride he has in being a guide. I would 100% go with Victor and African Pangolin Safaris again!Written 26 August 2024
- 998charissad0 contributionsWonderful SafariWe recently did a 4 night safari with African Pangolin Safaris as a family of 5. I would absolutely recommend them for a quality budget safari. We chose them as their quote was very reasonable compared to other budget safaris but their service and response to questions was excellent prior to going. Our driver Michael was great- kind, professional and a very safe driver! The experience was amazing. I have always wanted to visit Ruaha as it is a little more remote than other parks. We drove from Dar and spent 1 night Mikumi, 2 nights Ruaha and a final night in Mikumi before heading back to Dar. Game drives were great- we saw so much, the highlight was a pride of lions and a leopard. Driving was long but the drive between Mikumi and Ruaha is absolutely spectacular through the Udzungwa mountains. We stayed in Ruaha Hilltop lodge- wonderful service and breathtaking views - and Bastian camp in Mikumi which I would also definitely recommend. If I did this trip again I would possibly do 2 nights together in Mikumi and 2 nights in Ruaha and then fly back to Dar from Iringa as the drive back felt a little too long. Honestly, an incredible and magical experience for our family.Written 19 August 2024
- maryfJ4105RQ0 contributionsAfrican Pangolin Safaris is the best Tour operator in Tanzania!! ❤️My experience with African Pangolin Safaris as solo traveler was great! - shionaw1400 contributionsAn amazing safari experience from start to finish. Would highly recommend African Pangolin Safaris.Had read reviews for African Pangolin Safaris online and messaged asking for more details. Really impressed by all the information I received from Mansoor. Any enquiry was quickly answered and booking was simple with a small deposit to pay. Mansoor was so helpful and gave suggestions on where to stay prior to going on safari, afterwards, ferry company to use for Zanzibar etc. Nothing was too much trouble. Once in Dar Es Salaam, we were picked up early at agreed time by our friendly guide Mike. We then drove the 6-7 hour journey to Mikumi National Park stopping off for toilet and refreshments when required, and also for lunch. Mike was friendly and chatty and gave lots of information and was a careful driver. Mike was our guide for the full 3 day, 2 night safari and we can't recommend him enough. He showed us so many animals and as it was a private safari for the 3 of us he stopped for as long or as little as we wanted. We learnt so much and saw so many amazing animals and felt safe at all times. We stayed in a cottage inside the National park which was great to get the full experience and meant we could start our game drive early which was a great time for seeing the animals out and about. Would 100% recommend African Pangolin Safaris for great service, friendly people, value for money and an experience we'll never forget!Written 7 July 2024
