- DebF7690 contributionsCool giraffes and excellent educationWe had a bit of time back in Arusha after safari and I'm always up for seeing the amazing Masai giraffes. Our tour guides explained how farming practices and climate can lead to severe erosion in this part of Africa. Over 17 years he and his wife have restored the land at the Giraffe Center with sustainable agricultural practices. They are working hard to educate Masai youth. The guide was always respectful of the Masai culture, but he has centuries of traditional practices to overcome. A bonus of the trip was being able to walk with giraffes! (keeping a respectable distance.) It is different being on the ground with them, rather than in a safari van. I know the price is a bit steep for this part of Africa, but some of the fee goes to bringing in Masai youth and supporting their education about the land. My friend and I thought this a very worthwhile excursion!Written 26 November 2024
- Jessica M0 contributionsNOT ONLY GIRAFFES!!A wonderful back to nature farming and cattle breeding are the beautiful surroundings for the 3 giraffes that Nat and Nick are caring for. Both so deeply connected with nature…you could listen to Nick’s explanations for hours because of the deep enthusiasm and empathy he brings out. Delicious tea, coffee and cakes offered by Nat who then walked us through the farm to the giraffes sight…so close up and at the same time so naturally blended with the surrounding nature. Thank you ever so much!Written 6 April 2024
- Paul D0 contributionsAmazing experience! We really enjoyed our trip! We loved seeing the giraffes up and close and learning very interesting facts about them. We also learned about sustainable farming. We feel like we have walked away more knowledgeable, and want to share the experience with others.Written 1 April 2024
- willemv1320 contributionsAn easy beautiful walking safari10 out of 10 experience! A walking safari with giraffes. Upon arrival we got a good cup of tea from the English owners and an interesting talk about the best way to do agriculture for the new generation of farmers in Tanzania. Arusha Giraffe Centre invites young local farmers to do farming differently, more productive and environmentally friendly. The walk was beautiful, perfect for our children and we got to see all the giraffes. One of the giraffes had the same name as my wife which was kind of funny. At the end of the walk we had a delicious handmade icecream! greets Willem & Valerie :)Written 27 March 2024
- Bisoubelle0 contributionsExperience of a life-time!Learning about how the Tanzanian land is cultivated and walking with the giraffes! What an exceptional experience! The center is informative, the welcome extremely friendly, the landscape and the view so beautiful, and the giraffes are wonderful! The Center is just on the outskirts of Arusha which makes it a perfect outing from town. Seeing these gigantic, beautiful animals from so close makes you humble. The whole experience is fantastic!Written 21 March 2024
- H7907XKnicot0 contributionsGreat experienceAbsolutely great experience. The owner runs this place with passion. His enthusiasm in sharing his mission and knowledge is contagious. The hike to see the giraffes was very fun, despite the rain and we got real up close to the giraffes. Would recommend.Written 4 March 2024
- erabin0 contributionsWalking with giraffesA beautiful project all around. We learned a lot about land restoration, about sustainability and got to walk in the bush with giraffes. Highly recommend it for kids and adults alike!Written 27 January 2024
- Passport3169220 contributionsBeautiful spot and beautiful animals!A Tanzanian family went out to see the giraffe, and not only came back happy to have seen these gorgeous animals, but also happy to have had the educational component and hands on learning examples in the Arusha Giraffe Center Education Center. This is what makes the Center unique- the educational component! On the home, one parent was showing examples of what they had learned in the Center. The hosts were fantastic and this is a lovely afternoon outing. The giraffe did not disappoint. Those at the AGC are quite striking- one is quite blonde and one has an adorable fuzzy red color mane. We would watch them all day!Written 15 January 2024
- akuna600 contributionsTo do in Arusha!Excellent visit to know more about the use of land in Arusha area to preserve it very simple and easy way! Nice short walk to meet giraffe and know more about this animal in danger!!!Written 14 January 2024
- DustyWheelsTanzania0 contributionsGreat Experience at the Arusha Giraffes Center! My wife and I visited the Arusha Giraffe Center yesterday - what a great experience!! The guided tour conducted by the staff was a great learning experience on nature. During the walk on the farm we saw several animals including the fantastic Giraffes. The Giraffes have a safe environment and live with pure nature. I will regularly visit this Arusha Giraffe Center. I recommend everyone to get this experience and visit the Arusha Giraffes Center!Written 13 January 2024
- Lauren C0 contributionsLovely Morning! We visited Arusha Giraffe Centre in December 2023. First of all, the drive to the area is beautiful, with lots of lovely views. The Giraffe Centre is well sign-posted and easy to find. We loved the experience. We had a very interesting and informative talk when we arrived. Here, we gained some knowledge about the area, agriculture , and giraffe. This was eye-opening information, so we thank you. We then took a walk through a very green area to go and find the giraffes. We found the three and were able to get close enough to watch them in their natural environment. It was wonderful! We thank you for a lovely morning. We will be back. Asante sana.Written 28 December 2023
- notabarney0 contributionsWonderful & Important Educational Experience - not to be missed! What a delightful experience we had at the Arusha Giraffe Centre! We were greeted by our gracious host and given a walking tour of the property (escorted by the sweet dogs in residence) while learning about all things giraffes and the need for the conservation and protection of these beautiful animals. We viewed (from a distance so as to not disturb them) the three amazing giraffes safely living on their sanctuary land. Our group was treated to tea and snacks on the porch of the lovely home, while we continued our conversation about the conservation efforts of the giraffes by the Centre and life in Tanzania. We finished off our afternoon visit with a tour of the ongoing construction site of the Educational Center - specifically designed for education, engagement, and important discussions for adults and children alike! A once-in-a-lifetime and personal experience at the Centre was one of the highlights of our family visit to Tanzania. A great opportunity to learn as well as support the important work happening at the Centre. Not to be missed! Thank you so much for this experience!Written 13 December 2023

- TrailBlazer5156490 contributionsBest Option for Half Day in ArushaMy family of 4 had a great half day at the Arusha Giraffe Centre. We walked with the giraffe which was excellent way to end our safari in Tanzania. This is a highly recommend activity. Nick and Natalie are fantastic hosts and very committed to conservation work. We learned a lot during our visit. If you have a half day to spare in Arusha, before or after a safari, the Arusha Giraffe Centre is the best way to spend it.Written 9 December 2023
- Fearless196017455690 contributionsEye opening experienceNick and Natalie were wonderful hosts. This was more than I expected and opened my eyes to the problems facing this area. Tourist come through the area for safari not realizing the challenges in the area. Nick and Natalie have developed an educational forum for students on farming practices for the Masai tribe and the endangerment of the giraffes in Tanzania. We then walked in the bush to see the giraffes that were rescued. It was lovely to see them from a ground perspective. You could not get too close as they are still wild animals as it should be. Nick and Natalie have a wonderful vision that should be promoted. Knowledge is power. Thank you both for the wonderful tour and good luck with your work!Written 3 November 2023

I had a private tour and my guide had been a teacher then studied his Bachelor of wildlife studies so he was very informative. I also met the couple who have dedicated 17 years to develop this conservation area. Not only are they breeding giraffes to set free in Serengeti or Ngorongoro where they will be protected they are providing education on land management to the Maasai so they can be more productive yet help the environment.

What a wonderful place! Its an interesting drive to get there, passing many Masai families--bring treats to toss to the kids as they love this! We handed out Tootsie Pops. Once at the Centre, we were warmly greeted by Natalie who owns it. She offered us tea, coffee and banana bread, before giving us an educational lecture about Tanzanian agriculture and the symbiotic relationship of animals, humans, plants and myselium. Really great! Then we started our walk; about 40-60 min of walking to find the stunning, amazing, gorgeous four giraffes who are protected an studied. These are lucky animals! We were able to get quite close without disturbing them. And we learned more about the flora and fauna there. My congratulations to Natalie and team for protecting these amazing animals and fostering ideas for regeneration. Don't miss this wonderful visit!

The experience was eye opening. One I would recommend to everyone. I appreciate the information being communicated and particularly the primary focus being the local children who are the future key players. I honestly am looking forward to the impact this center will bring to the area. The walk with the giraffes was amazing, they are such graceful animals and to experience them upclose, such a dream.

If you are looking for an authentic adventure to add to your African Safari… look no further. Not only do you get up close and personal with the tallest animals on earth but you’re helping a greater cause… who could say no to that?!
The Walk with Giraffes experience is an amazing conservation effort with a goal of educating visitors and local school children as well as working with locals to make a greater difference.
On arrival we were given a clear overview of the conservation and regenerative efforts that have taken place…. and you can see the changes that have happened. Afterward, the learning continued as we were escorted down the well-marked path to where the giraffe were grazing. We came within a safe distance of the animals where we had the opportunity to watch them in a natural habitat and get to know their quirks.
As it was explained to us… our modest entry fee will be put towards bringing a busload of local children out to the centre to educate and engage them in the process. Simply amazing.
Thank you Nick for such a great experience! I see some giraffe fundraising in my future 🦒

What an inspirational visit. A fabulous 1/2 day trip from Arusha that can easily be paired with the cultural centre for a day of entertainment close to Arusha. Amazing to hear how the re-wilding can improve the land and how this little piece of tourism can also help local school children to understand their surroundings and educate them in how to look after their land and animals for years to come.
So beautiful to see the giraffes in such green surroundings and to be so close to them.
Having been part of a large meeting in Arusha it can also be organised as an educational social group visit.
Really do feel that it should be a location for 'Clarkson's Farm on Tour'.
An absolute must if in Arusha, thank you Nick and the team.

We first received an extensive explanation about the education center. An inspiring story by Nick. He was very knowledgeable about developments in Tanzania, especially in the field of agriculture. A real eye-opener and a serious mission to support the land, its inhabitants and animals and educate them about a healthier way of farming. The icing on the cake is a beautiful walk towards the giraffes. Enjoy these beautiful animals from a few meters away. A great afternoon!

The AGC is the best place to visit for both regenerative education and natural experience of Giraffes in thier wild state putting much efforts in showing ways possible to foster their conservation status as their population is declining at high rate.
