Itinerary

Day 1: DAY 1: SEZIBWA FALLS AND MABIRA FOREST WALK

Stop At: Jinja, Jinja, Eastern Region
On this 1 day Jinja tour, we will 3 main tourist sites in total. The tour starts after an early breakfast preferably 6.30 am in the morning from Kampala or Entebbe to avoid the traffic jam. You will drive through tea plantations, sugar plantations and colorful roadside fruit and vegetable markets. On two stops you will see several Ugandans selling roast meat as a quick snack for travelers in buses and taxis

The journey to Jinja goes through beautiful scenery of plantations of sugar and tea, and colorful roadside fruit markets. Our first stopover is Sezibwa falls a beautiful Buganda kingdom cultural site with an interesting legend about origin of the river and Sezibwa falls. On a good day you will find people who come to the traditional healers for blessings and to dispel the curses they believe are disrupting their successes.

Our next stop will be a hike through Mabira Forest; learning about the rich heritage of the Uganda people who lived in the forest and and opportunities of sighting or listening to different bird species, beautiful butterflies, primates, and tree species.

Finally, the highlight of your trip – a boat ride to the “Source of the Nile” at the now submerged Rippon Falls. This is where the Nile starts its 4000-mile journey to the Mediterranean Sea from Lake Victoria. The boat ride can take between 30 minutes and one hour. You will be able to see the place where river Nile starts to separate from the waters of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa.
