About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- vachanaramk0 contributionsMemorable Safari experience from start to the endI contacted Four Crane Safaris about 4 and half months before the tour starting date. I gave them how I wanted our tour to be and Paul responded on time and he put together the first itinerary proposal which was amazing because it included all we wanted to see in Uganda. We then adjusted it a little bit with help of Paul. Everything worked out smothly and payment process was easy which we made in full in advance. On arrival to Entebbe Airport, Paul came to meet us and handed us over to Gerald who was our guide and driver. Gerald then drove us to Speke hotel Kampala. He was very friendly and helpful. The following day we did a tour of Kampala city, moved around Kampala slams with help of Gerald, he was funny and open to conversations and questions about the country and the life of the people in Uganda. We enjoyed delicious local food in local restaurants all paid by Four Crane Safaris. Our guide was reliable, and always on time, he looked after us throughout our stay in Uganda and took good care of us all around national parks. We loved all the hotels booked by Four Crane Safaris for us, good food, good rooms, friendly staff etc. We enjoyed pinnacle gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi and chimpanzees in Kibale forest national park which was the main focus of this tour. Gorilla tracking was great but this tour company is more greater which is important for any African safari. We will always travel with Four Crane Safaris again and again. Thank you very much for organizing trip that we dreamed of for many years.Written 13 March 2025
- linh_Z3711UO0 contributionsWe booked a customized 10 day safariMost reliable company I have ever seen First and foremost, Four Crane Safaris helped us with visas, though Paul from Four Crane Safaris advised us to apply for visas online in advance, but we became reluctant thinking that its possible to obtain a visa on arrival, which we were completely wrong. We were asked for visa approval by airline before boarding the day of our trip, which we supposed to have obtained during online visa application. We were told that we will not be able to board without visa confirmation letter. We contacted Paul and explained our situation, Paul asked us the name of Airline and told us to give him time to see the way out to help us. After about 30 minutes, Paul got back to us with good news and airline cleared us to board. On arrival at the airport, Yes we were delayed a bit but after we were cleared after paying all the necessary charges which didn't take much time. Four Crane Safaris has good relationship with airlines and seemed working closely with immigration department. ABOUT OUR TOUR: We booked a customized 10 day safari to see African wildlife in Uganda, we did extraordinary chimpanzee habituation and Gorilla habituation in kibale and Bwindi. Our guide, was excellent, nothing seemed too much for him, he was patient and happily responded to all our questions and requests. Four Crane Safaris is trustworthy and true to their word. I highly recommend this company for unique, personalised safari experience.Written 10 March 2025
- chikav20250 contributionsIt was a pleasure to travel with Four Crane SafarisOur Amazing Trip to Uganda to see Gorillas and Nile. our journey was well organized right from airport pickup, our tour started by visiting Mabamba swamp for shoebil stalk tracking and the tour of Entebbe Botanical Gardens where we did bird watching Gerald at Four Crane Safaris was a fantastic guide. He is very knowledgeable about wildlife, he was very helpful patient and could listen to our requests, Gerald is a great storyteller, we enjoyed his funny stories at night during camp fire 🔥 at our fabulous lodge chose by Four Crane Safaris for us in Bwindi. It was clear that Gerald has great relationship with the local people which I very important, he is known everywhere we went and he was just as enthusiastic and excited as we were about the sightings. Out trip to and from the Nile where we had fishing experience was also amazing and highly educational, and we learned a lot about local economies as we met with several fishermen. The walking safari in Lake Mburo national park was fantastic - so many ecosystems in such a small space, great birding and wonderful sightings. Gerald clearly knows the park well and ensured an excellent experience with local park rangers and we had really a good walk (much appreciated after days of long plane rides and not much exercise). The pinnacle gorilla trekking experience was absolutely amazing and was really once in lifetime experience. Throughout our time with Four Crane Safaris, we really appreciated the attention to everything from comfortable vehicle, and great water bottles, to flexibility (we appreciate early starts) and advice on photography. It was a pleasure to travel with Four Crane Safaris.Written 23 February 2025
- beccak4000 contributionsThanks to Four Crane safaris for organizing our dream trip to see mountain Gorillas*Nothing to compare with. * Four Crane Safaris has been fantastic, Paul was halpful right from the start of planning. To be Honest, we have not had any worry about this company. The making of the whole trip was easy, fun, and was an experience of a lifetime. Paul put together the itinerary that included everything from airport pickups, fabulous full board accommodation, mountain gorilla trekking, boat safaris etc. We didn't spend any extra money as the trip had covered everything including enrote meals. We shared what we wanted to do, and he arranged it to fit our interests. He was responsive over email and WhatsApp, and the whole booking process was simple, we were sent all the documents to prove that we made payment to them and that our booking was confirmed, this made us to build more trust on them. Our guide Ann was knowledgeable, at first we thought Ann being a woman wouldn't manage to handle the task but she turned out to be more competitive and has experience. She could answer our questions in details. Many thanks to Four Crane safaris for organizing our dream trip to see mountain Gorillas.Written 22 February 2025
- mercyo8370 contributionsFour Crane Safaris is SuperbFour Crane Safaris is Superb. When I decided to explore the rich culture and breathtaking landscapes of Africa, i decided to fun with Uganda. I contacted several tour companies and Four Crane Safaris was the first to respond with most organized itinerary with competent price. The highlight for our trip to Uganda was to see mountain gorillas so i knew I needed a reliable safari company to assist me organizing safari to trek gorillas of Bwindi, of cause Four Crane Safaris turned-out to be the most reliable of all that i contacted. Four Crane Safaris was fantastic, we were in touch with Rebecca who assisted us with organizing the itinerary, she was very responsive always responded our emails on time, the planning took time as it was our first time to visit Africa so we wanted to make sure that we are in right hands so we had lot of questions but Rebecca always responded to us, non of the 72 emails that we sent was ignored, from then we felt welcoming environment, on arrival to Kigali Airport in Rwanda, we met Rebecca who handed us over to Ambrose who was our great guide. Ambrose helped us in border crossing from Rwanda to Uganda, making clearing process easier and fast. We enjoyed his driving skills, he could stop on the way to show us around making our drive relaxing. Overall, Four Crane Safaris made our holiday experience in Uganda seamless and enjoyable, We got what we did not expect from this company, we felt well-supported throughout our trip. I recommend Four Crane Safaris to those who are looking for comfortable safari holidays.Written 21 February 2025
- ovatjuliuso0 contributionsAn excellent and memorable tourIt was peaceful to deal with Paul when arranging our trip to Uganda. He was very helpful and prompt in his communication. We completely enjoyed our safari with Gerald who was our guide/driver. Gerald was highly knowledgeable about wildlife in Uganda and also helped us to arrange safari activities that were marked in itinerary as optional. He understands Ugandan roads very well; he helped us to bypass heavy traffic in the last day of our tour, which was very important as our return flight was rescheduled closer more in few hours. In addition to that, he has keen eyes and could spot animals we would never have been seen and he positioned the vehicle to enable us to get the best photographs. Four Crane Safaris management was very attentive and planned our days well; they booked us in very good safari lodges, that means we enjoyed some of luxurious accommodation instead of our booked midrange. Based on our experience, we highly recommend Four Crane Safaris for your next safari to Africa. Would book with this company if we ever go back to Uganda. I hope that would be lucky to have Gerald as our guide once again.Written 19 February 2025
- B7019TI_0 contributionsMemorable 5 days Gorilla and Chimpanzee SafariWe have traveled with several African safari companies but no one to compare with Four Crane Safaris. Four Cranes arranged a trip of a lifetime for us! . Gerald picked us up on our first day with warmest of welcome with smile and from then on we knew we were going to have the perfect time and yes we were right, not once did the trip disappoint us as everything went well as expected. Gerald was always there to give support where necessary. We were not fit so who could not manage to hike the trails of Bwindi but Gerald was very helpful to get us porters we carried us with locally made Technology, which is nicknamed “Helicopter”. We felt comfortable during our 5-day safari in Uganda with four Crane safaris. All the hotels were carefully selected to meet our standards. Our guide provided us with enough information and basically became family friend, we can’t thank Four Crane enough, you can safely book with this company and be assured that you will be taken well care. I want say thank you to Paul at the office who always responded our questions very quickly I highly recommend Four Crane safaris and we will always be recommending Four crane safaris to friends and family.Written 13 February 2025
- 445priyav0 contributions14 Days Luxury Safari unforgettable ExperienceFirst of all I want thank Four Crane Safaris for organizing our 14 days Uganda and Kenya Safari that enabled us to Encounter mountain Gorillas, chimpanzees, wildebeest migration, boat safaris, game drives, and African cultural experiences etc. We really loved and enjoyed our stay in Uganda, and yes it was Unforgettable safari experience ever. We really felt safe right from the start to the end. Paul our tour consultant was quick to respond our emails and listen each of our requests and this makes planning very smooth and hustle free. When we landed to Entebbe Airport, Paul met us and briefed us about our safari and handed us over to Ambrose who was our driver/guide. Ambrose was on time the next morning, he picked us and we proceeded to Murchison falls national. Our safari for Uganda covered Murchison falls, Queen Elizabeth national park, Kibale Forest national park, and Bwindi Impenetrable National park. We were transfered to Kenya on day 9 of our 14 days where we did the Masai Mara tour. The drive to Kenya was breathtaking as our driver was experienced driver and our car landcruiser was luxurious and comfortable. Above all, our guide was very knowledgeable and responded to each of our questions precisely, he is rich in knowledge about East Africa wildlife, history and culture. I can't forget the pinnacle gorilla trekking experience in BwindiWritten 12 February 2025
- katiebtravelzen0 contributionsConcerning Deletions of Main Activities on ItineraryOur experience with Four Crane Safaris was a mixed bag. The good: -Paul was very responsive to our communications prior to the trip. He arranged a custom tour for five people which included 6 main activities (two game drives in Queen Elizabeth, a boat safari in QE, chimpanzee trekking, gorilla trekking, and golden monkey trekking/ a second day of gorilla trekking. -The lodges Four Cranes booked for us were splendid. -Our driver quickly responded to requests and seemed to want us to have a good experience. -The rangers at the parks and the boat guide (who were employed by Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi, and Mgahinga) that led the single day activities were fabulous. The gorilla trekking was such a special experience that we will remember for years to come. -A member of our group celebrated her birthday during our trip. Paul arranged a cake and our driver gave her a Uganda shirt. It was very sweet! The bad: -On our first day, our driver informed us that Paul was unable to acquire the chimpanzee permits. He said Paul was supposed to tell us when he met us at our hotel that morning. When we asked Paul about this later via email, he said he didn't tell us because we were busy checking out of the hotel. He also admitted that he knew about the failure to obtain chimpanzee permits a month in advance of our trip, but he chose not to communicate this to us as he wanted to tell us in person which he then opted not to do. Via email, he offered to refund us the fee for the chimpanzee permits or to do an additional game drive. Our group selected the refund which we never received. -Our itinerary listed the tree-climbing lions and game drive on our first day in Queen Elizabeth. We were then told that this section of the park was too far and we wouldn't be going there, but we would go to the north section of the park for the game drive. When asked about this, Paul at Four Cranes said he had copied a prior itinerary for ours and the tree climbing lions section was left on in error. Then, we were informed days later that we will not be getting a refund for the cancelled chimpanzee trekking as we did two game drives. However, Four Cranes had two game drives listed on our itinerary and it wasn't clarified to us until days later that the two game drives were also in error and only one should have been listed. We left the tour feeling cheated and scammed by this. Four Cranes should have reviewed the itinerary they sent us before sending it initially or at the very least at the time we paid the deposit. Any changes should have been communicated then. Both good and bad: -The trip was advertised as having a guide/ driver. While nice, our driver did not offer guiding services. He drove through the national parks at 60 km/hour and did not stop for animals unless we asked to stop. That said, once we asked him to drive slower and to stop for animals upon request, he did. The driver provided the names of the animals but not much more. Very little was shared about Uganda's culture, and nothing was shared about history or current events. When we asked questions, our driver would answer, but sometimes answers were clearly false. He'd state, "There are no birds in this park" and when we pressed further to ask about the birds we were hearing, he'd say "they are in their bed." -The car broke down twice. Luckily, once was on the morning of a travel day and delayed us only a few hours. The second time, a different care was temporarily arranged to pick us up from golden monkey trekking while the original car was being repaired. The vehicle was older and definitely showed that it had been loved, but overall, it got the job done. It was missing one seatbelt, and one of the seats was slanted to the side, but it got us around. That said, our driver and Four Cranes seemed to work to fix the car mechanical issues as soon as possible. -Additionally the jack under the passenger seat leaked oil onto one of our group member's coats. Upon request, the driver took the coat to get cleaned for $10. The strong chemicals used removed the oil from the outside of the coat and left a strong turpentine-like smell. -Our driver seems to be newer to tourism. Despite him repeatedly saying communication was important, he provided little communication about the plans for the day/ expectations. However, he was very responsive to our requests. Once we requested to stop to see the animals on the game drive, he did so willingly each time we asked (yet we had to keep asking). Our driver multiple times asked if we wanted to go do something (such as see the salt farm community up close or see flamingos up close) and after responded "no" he still took us to the place. Upon reaching the place, we again confirmed that no, we did not want to pay extra to see the attraction. This wasted time and is an anomaly to the other tours we've done. That said, he knew we were disappointed about not going to see the tree-climbing lions, so he took us to see three sleeping lions in the north section of the park. That was very sweet. Summary: We talked with other travelers at the lodges and during the trekking who really enjoyed the other tour companies with whom they booked. Four Cranes has potential to grow into a successful tourism organization; however, based on the multiple changes to main activities on the itinerary (game drives and chimpanzee trekking) and the omission of a promised guide, I would not recommend Four Cranes for your trip to Uganda. Note: the above information was shared throughout the trip and after the trip with Four Cranes via email. Paul expressed that he was saddened that we weren't satisfied, but he did not make efforts to resolve our concerns about dropping chimpanzee trekking in order to do a game drive that had already been listed as being included on the itinerary. He also stated that many travelers have been satisfied with Four Crane Safaris' tours in the past, yet I can only review based on our personal experience.Written 9 February 2025
- Navigator510198043080 contributionsLooks very nice, I will visit again and againI was very happy to visit this place. I saw the beautiful wild animals. I went near them. Then I saw the baby animals. I took many pictures with them. I liked them very much. The people who guide here are very responsible. I felt tired after traveling all day. After sitting in one place to rest I ate some food. Eat a lot of shusadhu or mono pearls.Written 22 December 2024

- 745kayb0 contributions11 DAY LUXURY SAFARI - AMAZING TRIPI contacted several companies for quotes and Paul was the first to respond (and the most competitive). He always responded promptly and positively and listened to my requirements. After arriving a day late (due to aircraft cancellation) we were collected at the airport and looked after by Gerald, our fantastic driver/guide who was very knowledgeable, friendly, happy and an experienced driver (which is important because the roads in Uganda are really bad in places). We loved most of the lodges we stayed at and all the game drives/boat trips and of course the pinnacle, gorilla trekking. If I ever go back to Uganda it will definitely be with Four Crane Safaris.Written 3 March 2024
- paul84320 contributionsReally our best experienceWe had such great time on Safari with Four Crane Safaris. They were super fast and easy even though we booked only couple weeks before. The communication was great, we always knew what to expect. Our guide was so kind and knowledgeable, we were able to spot many animals due to his keen eyes, including two lioness hunting and taking away gazelles. We photographed the most beautiful, perfect male lion standing out on a tree branch in Ishasha. We spotted a mother and young leopard on the prowl during the game drive at Lake Mburo, we also watched alot of bird types and more. We certainly felt well cared for, and in good hands. Every detail was carefully thought out and planned for us ahead of time, we never lacked anything on our trip, As for Paul, he truly made and organized our 14 day journey so amazing. I highly recommend booking with Four Crane Safaris. Our experience was beyond five stars!Written 16 November 2020

Jan 2025 • Friends
I recently traveled with this company on a 6 day tour in Uganda to see Queen Eliazbeth, Bwindi and Mgahinga National Parks. This trip included 5 friends.
Starting with the good, Four Crane Safaris was communicative and responded quickly in the trip planning phase. I enjoyed the hotel accommodations arranged through the company, as well as the arrangements to see golden monkeys in Mgahinga National Park, gorillas in Bwindi National Park, and a boat trip on the Kazinga Chanel in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Unfortunately, the trip itinerary also included a game drive to see tree climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth Park, and a permit to see chimpanzees in Queen Elizabeth National Park. As we departed Entebbe on our first day of the trip, we were met with an unexpected surprise from our driver that the chimpanzee permits had not been secured, and that it was unrealistic to see the tree climbing lions even though both of these activities and their permits had been previously confirmed by Four Crane Safaris, and we had paid for both activities. It felt disappointing and an unwelcome surprise to find this out after the trip had started, rather than being informed upfront. We were offered two alternative game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park which felt like poor substitutions to seeing chimpanzees and tree climbing lions, especially when were were excited for these activities and were told that they were previously secured for the trip.
While the other activities were enjoyable and memorable, it was disappointing and felt misleading that Four Crane Safaris promised and confirmed parts of the itinerary that it didn’t deliver.

Thank you for taking your valuable time to express your feelings. Sorry to hear that bad side of your experience with us. As we explained via email that you were supposed to do one game in the morning of which you did it, the first day was only the transfer from Entebbe to Queen, the second was game drive and boat safari. The highlighted Game drive in Ishasha sector was an error on itinerary as we explained to you via email. it cant be possible for you to sleep in Bush Lodge and do game drive in Ishasha sector as its far.
About the Chimpanzees in Kyambura gorge;
Since there was no availability of chimpanzees in Kyambura , we had given you two options to choose either refund of $50pp which was the price for trekking chimpanzee in Kyambura gorge at time of quotation or replacing it with second game drive. We didn't get feedback from you, instead you confirmed with driver that you chose second game drive instead of $50 refund per person, of which you did evening game drive on day one. that says you did two game drives, the first game drive was in the afternoon on day one where you show lions which was the replacement for Chimps in Kyambura. The second game drive you did in the morning before proceeding to Kazinga channel for boat safari. We were wiling to refund if you had communicated to us thjat you want refund before doing evening game drive in day one in Queen Elizabeth national park, You only sent us the email that you want refund the morning you were going to Bwindi and that's after doing all the two game drives.
We appreciate you choosing to explore Uganda with us. It was sweet having you in Uganda. We would love to have you again in future.
