.Meet your instructor at the daruma shop Daru-chan No Ouchi, located near the entrance of Jindaiji Temple, and learn about the process.(10 min)
.Choose the shape of your daruma(round-shaped or cat-shaped), as well as a cloth for the zabuton cushion.(5 min)
.Color the finger-sized daruma doll(2 cm/0.8 in), and paint a face onto it. Each color of daruma has its own meaning, so carefully choose one that fits your wishes the best. Feel free to write down your wishes on its body if you like. Daruma can also be varnished at your request.(30 min)
.Make a mini zabuton cushion on which you can place your daruma.(15 min)
.Enjoy Japanese tea and snacks as well as fun little daruma games while waiting for the paint and varnish to dry.(10 min)
.The session concludes. Bring your daruma doll home in a pretty Japanese-style drawstring bag. Daruma is believed to repel bad luck with its sharp glance. Place it around your computer, in the living room, or anywhere you like. Or maybe carry it around with you in your bag. The daruma doll will always watch over you and protect you.
