      Fun and informative
Robert was our guide. This tour is the best way to see the highlights of Nara. It's a riding walking tour with a stop for snack. Highly recommend.

A full day Nara and cycling experience
Fabulous trip in the forest to the top of Wakakusayama with a fantastic view. Remi was a super guide with a lot of entusiasm! He shared his knowledge about the sights, the culture and history- as we were biking through the hot summer day! A full day of experience, truly eecommended!

please do not use them- my humble request
I took a private tour for Nara with this company and paid extra for the private tour. the day of the tour we waited for half an our before the tour guide showed up. and then it was like it was a forced tour . please do not book with them - they are the only cycling tour in Nara and I am really disappointed that we had only one day in Nara and it was ruined. It would have been better to go for a group tour than a private one- the owner kind of fooled me and got us a private tour after the group tour.

      Comprehensive three hour tour
Our guide was knowledgable and knew how to pace our tour. We were grateful for the e-assist bikes up the hills. I would have passed on the visit to the knife shop.

Easy 3 hour bike ride packed with sites in Nara park
Great way to see a lot of the highlights in the very large park just north of Nara. It was very crowded when we went, and getting to those places on foot would have taken twice as long. Our guide took care of the 6 of us in our group, so we were never biking on streets with heavy traffic, although at times we had to thread our way through lots of pedestrians. The e-bikes are very easy to use, and even up hills the biking was never strenuous . Our guide was great, making sure we had enough time at each site and pointing out washrooms along the way.

We made one of the best choices we could have made by riding throughout the city.
One of the cities in Japan that absolutely cannot be missed is Nara. The beauty of the city lies in the fact that it mixes the art of religious places with nature, with a large number of deer. Considering that Nara is a very large city and that we want to see a lot of fascinating places, the most effective method to explore the city is by bicycle with a tour guide.

Awesome beer, sake & food Tour
Had such a fun time on this tour! Remi is super friendly and knowledgeable. He took us to many great spots in Nara that we would definitely not have been able to find on our own, and also took lots of pictures for us. We had so much good food and drinks. Definitely recommend!

      Best way to see Nara
Being on an ebike meant we got to see so much of Nara, not just the park. It was beautiful and convenient. Our tour guide was friendly and helpful. We would 10/10 recommend.

One of the best guided tours I have been on
Remi was ver friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the history, art and culture of Nara. This kept the conversations free flowing and what came about was a fantastic tour mixed with experiences. He was also flexible and accommodating to take me to a few additional spots as well. Looking forward to the next one with him..

An athletic discovery of Kasugayama Forest
It was a very fun day with Rémi, we discovered things we wouldn’t have thought of visiting otherwise ! Overall, it was a great experience with plenty of great sights to look at. But be prepared, as they are some steep trails that can be a bit hard if you’re not prepared enough (nothing impossible though, it will just be more tiring for you and your muscles).

Try delicious food/drink with the friendliest host in Japan!
The sake, beer and food tour of Nara is a can’t-miss experience. Melody was such an incredible host. We learned so much about Nara, Japan and local delicacies from her. She is a super nice person and was great to talk to. And everything was delicious! You will come away full of food/drink and good cheer. Book this tour!

      Worth the Challenge
Although the uphill ride was demanding, our guides were very patient and helpful. Each stop on the road was uniquely fascinating and beautiful; providing more than enough respite and encouragement for us to continue the trail. The downhill ride back was incredibly fun and refreshing.

      One of a kind experience
I will never forget this experience! Being able to see Nara from the mountain, the mysterious cave carvings, the path of the samuri, and more was truly one of a kind. It felt extremely special to get that privilege. Great if you are looking for a tour truly off the beaten path and full of funny little creatures. The primeval forest is jaw droppingly beautiful and our guides were knowledgeable, patient, and a delight to spend the day with. Like the other reviews say, it is definitely a fitness challenge but ends on such a high note by cruising down the mountain after toiling up. I really loved the cruise back to the tour station as well through the local streets. It was a great balance of history, nature, and working out. I recommend it highly. I just finished the tour a few hours ago and still feel energized by the great experience.

JTA (the company offering this service) charged my card the full amount through trip advisor and cancelled the tour 12 hours prior to start time (the night prior).

The short timeframe meant we couldn’t rebook with another company.

We suspect this was commercially driven and they just didn’t want to do a tour with a small group and wanted us to reschedule.

The company provided us a reason full of contradiction saying both: ‘not hearing back from us’ but also ‘your guide had a family emergency’. But they gladly offered a tour for the following day.

    Very fishy, unprofessional and disappointing.

Would not recommend going with this company if your plans are immovable or do not want to be strong armed into rescheduling by a business that has already charged for a specific date & service.

Dear Ankit, We are so sorry you felt it this way. As we sent you all the messages in the official Viator Chat: We received your booking confirmation on October 31st at 11:30 pm. The booking was instantly confirmed by Viator. We have a "2 guests minimum" rule to open a tour and assign a guide to the tour, so there was absolutely no problem with your booking. The tour was open and we contacted the guide who was ready to welcome you on November 4th. Unfortunately, that guide had a family emergency and told us that he could not take the tour on that day anymore. We looked for another guide available on Friday, November 4th. Still, we could not find one, so we sent you the first message on November 1st (less than 24 hours after you made your booking with us) on the Viator chat, to let you know that November 4th was not possible, but that we could reschedule another day, as we had guides available on November 3rd, 5th, and 6th (we had no other guests, but we had guides available, to welcome you). We sent you the second message on November 2nd, still through the Viator chat, to know what you wanted to do and to remind you of the rescheduling options before we cancel the tour. Unfortunately, as we had no reply from you, we could not book the tour on November 3rd and tried to contact you again to let you know that we had to cancel the tour on November 4th, as we still had no guide available on that day, and we could not get a reply from you about rescheduling the tour to a different date. Then we got the first reply from you claiming that you did not get any of our messages, within minutes after we sent our last message about canceling the tour the next day. As we are the ones who canceled the booking, you will get a full refund, obviously, do not worry about that. Be reassured that we will not keep any money from your booking being canceled. We contacted the Viator "Customer Care Center" and made sure of it. we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We sent you multiple messages through the Viator chat and even tried to reach you by phone as well, without any success. Just to make sure there was a bug or glitch on the Viator chat, we contacted them directly and got confirmation that everything was working perfectly and that you definitely got our messages from the very first one. We have all the message history from the Viator chat to prove it. Again, we are so sorry for the disappointment, but there was nothing else we could do besides canceling the tour as we could not get any reply from you after three days of trying to reach you. If you wish to talk to someone directly, our hotline on Whatsapp is available. the number is +81 80 3852 9396 We hope that you still could enjoy Nara and have a great time in this wonderful city. We had an excellent experience with Remi - we learned SO much about Nara and about the area’s history and about Shintoism and Buddhism and how they are practiced in this part of Japan. Remi was easy-going, kind, and so nice to spend a half a day with — at the end of the bike tour, he helped us back into the city center by bus (and paid our way) and suggested how we might spend the next few hours. We visited the restaurants and mochi place he recommended and had a great time. Highly recommend this fun bike tour! One of our favorite days in Japan!

Had an absolutely lovely experience with the tour! Melody, our guide, was very friendly, kind. and knowledgeable about the attractions as well as local life. The tour covered the popular attractions as well as hidden cultural gems. Bike tours also lets you take in a wide range of the city at a leisurely pace. I highly recommend this tour to fellow travelers!

I had a tour with Remi that was absolutely fantastic and really made my trip to Nara worthwhile. The bicycles are great quality - actually the exact same model I have at home. Remi is highly knowledgeable about not just Nara and its history but pretty much all things Japanese as well and I really enjoyed hearing about his experience of living in Japan. The pace of the cycling is moderate, you don't need to be a Tour de France veteran for this excursion. The stops at various sites were not rushed and there was plenty of time to enjoy and photograph them. I was extremely satisfied with my experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting Nara.

Remy took us on a great tour of Nara. He’s personable and easy to get along with, mixing personal anecdotes of his life as a foreigner in Japan with history. Nara isn’t the biggest place on earth, but this is a good way to experience all the best it has while getting a little bit of light exercise! My group became good friends and I met up with a few of them again for dinner that evening and again a few days later in Kyoto. Overall, a great option for a day trip to Nara!

The tour is so much fun and is safe and you feel that you have more time to discover Nara because you are biking to the different stops. The bikes are top quality! But most importantly Rémi is the perfect guide and he shares all of his knowledge of the are and the Japanese culture. I have learnt more than I anticipated. My kids loved the deers and my husband and I really enjoyed the stop at the knives shop. Everything is well thought of for a wonderful experience. This tour was definitely a highlight for my entire family!

An excellent way to see the highlights of Nara and learn a lot about it's history on this guided tour. Our tour guide Yuuki was very knowledgeable of the history of Nara and very patient with our not so confident rider. Many thanks to him! So this tour is friendly to people who are beginner cyclists. Highly recommended.

What happens when you combine a knowledgeable and friendly guide, some good bicycles, rural Japanese backroads, Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, a high-quality manufacturer of Japanese blades and a healthy topping of free-roaming deer? A slice of heaven for the entire family, particularly if the weather cooperates, as it did during our tour with two children (ages 8 and 10). This is wonderful alternative way of exploring Nara!

Robert guided us with agility in all the Nara park area, well known must see, and more secret areas, reviewing some of the main Japan’s historical facts and religious keys.

Beside the outstanding sightseeing aspect, this visit made a lot of sense for me. Make sure you can ride a bike before booking this tour. Electric or not, there is not so much difference if you’re used to standard bikes.

    I strongly recommend!
