Start at a long, beautiful, and green approach to the main mall of the shrine, which has a mysterious atmosphere, giving you the feeling that you are traveling to the past. Fireflies light up the dark forest at night in early summer.
According to the shrine records, Ono-jinja Shrine is related to Emperor Jinmu, the first emperor of Japan, and has a very long history. It is said that Jinmu and his subordinates came from Kyushu and traveled south to Kumano in Wakayama after stopping in this area. After that, he became the first emperor where Nara Prefecture is located now.
Many shrine buildings are “tangible cultural properties”: the main hall, etc., are those designated by Osaka Prefecture; and several other buildings, including the worship hall, are those registered by the national government.

There are a lot of cute, good luck charms with this fish motif. The “Chinu fortune draw” is very popular among worshippers in that you use a short fishing-rod-like stick to pick up a Chinu-shaped paper fortune. It originated from enshrining child gods of the Kumano deity in the Heian period (794-1185), when the Kumano pilgrimage became popular.
