About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 201hannahb0 contributionsWonderful walking tour in YanakaMy husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Yanaka with Eriko. Eriko was a terrific guide. We covered a lot of ground, but it never felt like the pace was overly ambitious. She was prepared with many helpful anecdotes, historical insights, and graphics/images - we learned so much, and she very graciously answered all of our many questions (both on-topic and off- !). We would highly recommend this experience to other tourists.Written 8 December 2024
- Pedro A0 contributionsAmazing Way to Connect with Tokyo’s RootsWe booked this tour take to take a deeper look at traditional Tokyo during a short trip in city. It delivered that and more! Yumi was an excellent host. She was very understanding about our late arrival due to train line confusions and really walked us through the roots of the neighborhood and a bit of traditional Japan. She was also very personable and knew everything we asked. Great tour to get away from the buzz and crowds in most of Tokyo.Written 4 December 2024

- Leesa L0 contributionsFamily trip exploring Kyoto mountainsThankyou Miki. It was such an enjoyable day. An incredibly beautiful place with the Autumm foliage, mountain views and the beautiful clear water stream. We learnt so much on the day as well about the origins/customs/stories of the Kuramo area and shrines from our wonderful guide Miki who was so lovely. It was definitely a highlight of our Japan trip. We went as a family group with 19 and 17 year old son and daughter and they loved it also.Written 2 December 2024

Plus she was extremely friendly and personable. I would highly recommend this tour especially with Rie.Written 1 December 2024
- U805DHnickj0 contributionsThe sites of KyotoVisiting Nijo castle, though extremely busy was fantastic. The paintings are breathtaking and wonderful. The gardens at Kinkaku-ji are simple breathtaking and the autumn leaves were just starting to work their magic. Ginkaku-ji is also very wortha visit as the “temple” is original and very sombrely beautiful. The views are wonderful. By the timie we got to Kiyomizu-dera the light was failing but it is such an amazing place and a great way to finish a tour. Thank you Miki for taking us around.Written 29 November 2024
- W8056CTmatthewc0 contributionsWonderful way to walk through historyWhat a wonderful experience! Harumoto was our tour guide and it was such a treat to have such a knowledgeable person guiding us. He was fun to talk with and was so great with talking with our kids along the way. Our 13 year old had so many questions, and Harumoto was so good at explaining things in a way she was interested in. We would recommend to any of our friends or family.Written 29 November 2024

- Sonia E0 contributionsDo not miss this tourThis tour was the highlight of our stay in Kyoto. We were so lucky to have Mizuho as our guide and to get to know her during the day. Mizuho took us places we would not have found on our own, provided interesting commentary as we walked and she also arranged a beautiful lunch for us at a traditional Japanese restaurant. The tour took us to some of the most beautiful shrines and the autumn colours in the mountains was amazing. We were very grateful to Mizuho who also took us to Nanzen-ji when we returned to Tokyo. This was unplanned but we finished the hike a little early and Mizuho asked where we hadn’t yet been. We had the best day with Mizuho. Cannot recommend the tour or her highly enough.Written 26 November 2024
- rubyj4170 contributionsOutstanding and highly recommend!Amazing!! Highly recommend for private tours. We were traveling with children and had only 2 days in Kyoto. Omakase helped plan the perfect one day itinerary for us that was customized to visit our top sites. The communication before and during the tour were outstanding. They took the time to confirm every detail. Moreover, our private tour guide Miyo was the BEST!! She was knowledgeable and personable. I loved her ability to be flexible when it started to rain to ensure that we saw the perfect sites before the rain and during the rain. I highly recommend requesting Miyo. She also had all sort of fun ideas to keep our kids engaged and lots of wonderful recommendations. Her communication was great and we loved spending the day with her. Also, our driver was outstanding too. He was always available for us and expertly navigated us to all the sites. Thank you and look forward to returning to Japan soon!Written 26 November 2024

- Crystal Y0 contributionsWorth it! Seriously.I was very lucky to be paired with Mizuho as my guide. You don’t know who your choices are until after booking. You get an email confirmation from the company. I was traveling alone but didn’t know the tour would literally be a private 1x1 tour. I was hesitant because of the hefty price but gradually throughout the day, I fell more and more in love with everything about the hike including Mizu’s friendliness and professionalism. She picked me up from my hotel and kindly explained to me what our itinerary was going to be like. She spoke good English. The tour was perfect from beginning to end. You are also expected to pay for the guide’s lunch to which I had no issue with at all. I just wanted her to choose an amazing spot and she did! Lunch was delicious and the perfect intermission after hiking. She is so thoughtful in how she carries her conversation. We spoke almost from beginning to end which is 9am-5pm. The hike was magnificent. Many beautiful shrines along the way, stairs, and beautiful views of the trees and mountains. Spring and autumn are probably best when to book. This was so much fun and delightful and I made sure to soak up every bit of Mizu’s knowledge. She was patient and took photos of me every time I asked. I am so thankful I chose to do this tour that I teared up as our day came to an end. Thank you Mizu! I’ll never forget you.Written 25 November 2024

Rimo was a splendid guide and more than met our expectations. We met her at the Kochi Harimayabashi station. With day passes for the trams/buses in hand, we headed off to the Makino Botanical Garden & Chikurin-ji Temple, then on to Kochi Castle for leisurely strolls, filled with lively conversation. With mist beginning we diverted to the walking shopping area and found a typical local restaurant for a late lunch followed by a for fun tram ride. Rimo was very attuned to our interests, an because she is fluent in English, we enjoyed wonderful conversations with her. Our experience was like visiting a friend in her hometown -- a delightful and unrushed day in Kochi...Just what we wished for!

it was af fine day in Kochi City, there was a good flow to the contents and it all conncted together quite well. The guide was good and explained things well in addition to giving us a lot of free time to ourselves to explore Hirome Market and the Sunday Market. Keep in mind that there is a lot of walking but overall it is a fine experience

We really enjoyed the Kochi castle and shrine, but most of all the botanical gardens. The display of orchids in the conservatory was amazing. Our tour guide, Misaki, was very informative and considerate and we wish her well for her move to Kobe and would recommend her for future local Kobe tours.

Of the 9 cities we visited in SE Asia, Kochi was our favorite. Our guide, Mizuho, is a good part of the reason. She was gracious, informative, and totally able to adapt her plans to our interests. We even got to meet the Chief Monk at a 1300 years old Buddhist temple, thanks to Mizuho. One favorite part was getting to a large indoor market area. We shopped (much better prices than elsewhere in Japan) and had a wonderful, freshly made lunch. My Sushi cost under $5 and was delicious. My wife was unable to handle the number of steps to the top of Kochi Castle, but Mizuho gave us an excellent background on the Shogun and his Samurai who lived there. Thank you, Mizuho and Omakase, for a wonderful day in your city.

We had a great day with Aya albeit it was dampened somewhat by the inclement weather. Aya was very informative and adapted to our needs (and the weather) during our tour. Aya also took lots of photos during the tour and shared them with us, which was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated. The tour organisers Omakase were also very professional and communicated well with us during the planning process. We would recommend Aya and Omakase to anyone considering a tour to Kochi and other parts of Japan.

This is one of our best guided tours in Japan. Simply because, Yuri, our guide made us feel welcome in her hometown. She was efficient, knowledgeable & helpful. We’ve managed to beat the
crowds from the cruise ship & enjoyed the Makino Botanical garden, Buddhist temple, Kochi Observatory (with a great view of the city), Kochi Castle, etc. with no crowds. In addition to these tours, Yuri also taught us how to use the public bus & tram. We’ve ended our tour with a delicious grilled bonito fish & Kariage chicken at the Hirome Market.

What a wonderful day in Kochi! We were very lucky to get a great guide Kumiko. We really enjoyed our tour of Makino Botanical Garden, Chikurinji Temple, Hirome Market, and Yosakoi dancing. Kumiko organized everything perfectly, even took us for delicious lunch to try Kochi specialty - seared bonito. We especially thankful for her getting extra mile to help us find the souvenirs for our grandson. She also took beautiful pictures of us, that she emailed us after the tour, and gave a thoughtful souvenir to remember our wonderful day in Kochi. Thank you so much Kumiko!

Miyo and Keiko were wonderful guides! Unfortunately, the weather was very wet, and there was a major snafu with our reserved taxis. I might suggest that, in the future, if taxis are reserved, that one guide stay with the taxis and one guide collect the guests.
Due to the delays, our time at the botanical gardens was very short. However, with so much rain, that may have been the case without the delay.
Lunch was amazing and well organized.
The highlight was the Kochi Castle. We had a couple of members of our group that could not climb the stairs, so Keiko stayed behind with them. Miyo continued with the rest of group. She was very informative and knowledgeable about the history. We did find, after the fact, that there is path to the castle, rather than having to climb the steps. Neither of the guides seemed to be aware of the path, but were glad to learn of it for the future.
Miyo and Keiko were kind, helpful, and friendly. They did all possible to see that we made the best of the weather and difficulties.

We were blessed with perfect Kochi weather in the middle of winter for this tour. We seemed to see, experience and learn so much yet we never actually felt rushed. The castle was one of the best ones that I have been to, the wood still had a heartbeat. So many interesting points and beautiful places to sit and imagine life as a warrior or village person. The Makino gardens wasn't super colorful but it was still so lovely. However the hot house area, with all the orchids was jaw dropping. That's all I'll say, you have to go and see yourself. We did so much yet there was no stress. Having somebody else take care of all the practicals was just so lovely. Our job was just to enjoy. Kochi was a highlight as it was so unexpectantly fun.

Our guide, Shoko, met us at the cruise terminal dressed as a ninja and that set the tone for a really fun day. I had explained that we had a couple of people in the group that might have some problems with stairs and walking fast. Shoko took this into account and was very attentive and understanding. She even thoughtfully provided binoculars so they could see those of us who climbed to the top of the castle waving at them! As an unexpected bonus we had ‘Hanami’ under the Cherry Blossoms. The garden at the start of the tour was delightful. Throughout the tour we never felt rushed and the whole day was relaxing and very good fun. Shoko even took photographs throughout the day which she sent us a link to. This was by far the best tour we have had in Japan. If you are lucky enough to have Shoko as your guide I can guarantee a fun, informative day.
