          brilliant tour
One of the best tours we have done. Our driver San picked us up from the hotel right on time for the North tour of Mauritius. We did not have the best start because the first stop, the Chateau de Labourdonnais, was closed for a function. We therefore stopped a bit longer in Port Louis to walk round the shops and the local market. We then went for some lunch at a very good and reasonably priced local restaurant and on to the Pamplemousses botanic gardens. We stopped at the local sugar museum which by then was closing but we managed to fit in a rum tasting. San was an excellent guide, his English is very good and he told a lot about the island, it's people and his family. There were 4 of us in a fairly new private air-conditioned minibus and an an 8 hour tour cost just £27 each. This tour is recommended, thank you San.

          A fabulous day to remember
We booked with Bonjour Mauritius before arriving and have just completed a wonderful tour today. We had a few requests the team were so helpful with. Meeting up with friends from another hotel on the same tour, The two drivers arranged this and we all meet up. They also arranged a lovely birthday cake for my lunch spot. Nothing was any trouble and a really lovely touch. Despite the rain, we toured Black River National Park, saw the coloured earth, a great tour of the rum factory at Chamarel, really interesting to understand what goes into the production process, and tasting of 7 rums! We had lunch at a lovely location, local Mauritian curry, and again the hospitality was superb! Thank you Bonjour Mauritius for making our trip so memorable.

          A definite must!
Great day out, well organised and faultless. We were lucky enough to see 3 whales and a pod of dolphins. Crew were very respectful of the wildlife and did not hound and harass them like some other boats that we witnessed. Would definitely recommend.

          Day with hiccups
The day out with Sebastian, our guide was excellent. I gave it 3 stars due to poor organisation. Booking trip pickup time 8am. But what actually happened was we were to be picked up at 06.30. Info didn't specify this. In the end, we got to jetty to pick the boat up at 8.10 But set off till 09.30, so stood out in hot sun. The boat had no cover from sun. Food was awful. Visiting lighthouse was a nightmare, stepped off boat into sea onto bed of seashells which cut into my feet. We weren't asked to bring sea shoes. We saw dolphins, turtles monkeys. So despite hiccups it was an enjoyable day.

          Snorkelling with turtles worth it
Snorkelling with the sea turtle was a once in a lifetime activity! Our taxi driver was lovely although on the way home dropped us off at a cashmere shop unsolicited which we didn’t want. Apart from that the sight seeing of the north was good.

          unforgettable experience
The team from Dolswim is excellent. After 2 hours searching we met the whale family! It’s amazing! A little bit disappointed when swimming with dolphins. When I get into the sea I need to swim very fast to chase them but dolphins are swimming deep underwater. I can only see around 20 dark shadow underneath. Luckily I can see them swimming around when I am on the boat. In summary, It is an unforgettable experience and recommended activity in Mauritius!

          **Disappointing Trip**
I was really looking forward to this trip, but it was a letdown. Our driver (manoj) talked too much and rushed us at every stop, giving us only 40 minutes at the port and taking us to just one shop. We felt pressured to buy without any choice. The skipper mostly spoke French, ignoring the English-speaking guests, which made us feel excluded. We saw one turtle—nothing else worth mentioning. I wouldn’t recommend visiting the Red Church, and while the botanical garden is nice, it's too hot to enjoy fully. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this trip.

Brilliant day watching Whales, swimming with dolphins and snorkelling
What a brilliant day seeing sperm whales in their natural habitat and swimming with dolphins in the Indian Ocean. The staff on the boat where brilliant and encouraged those who were less confident to get in the sea experience something wonderful. The driver to and from the venue Sam was very knowledgable about Mauritius and made sure we got there and back safely. Thank you for an experience we as a family will never forget.

          Great tour, saw many whales
We went October 22, and we were told around this time we’d mainly see sperm whales. We took the 10am trip, and saw many whales! First one is mommy and baby, and saw some big male sperm whales too ! We got to go up close and got many great shots. The private drop off was also great, very clean car and very nice driver who knew the roads well.

Fun in the sun at high speed.
Trailfinders organised this trip for us and our speed boat captain was Nelson. What an amazing day. It was fun and suitable for all ages we had a lovely Italian family on our boat and the only thing their little girl did not do was the snorkelling. The lunch bbq was great chicken and fish plus a great coleslaw. Plenty of drinks during the trip and during lunch. With an amazing waterfall to also see and feel. If I am lucky enough to return to the island this will be at the top of my to do list.

I still enjoyed it, life is what you make it
The driver was on time and friendly. The trip was pleasant, however, without guided commentary. I asked questions that were answered, with occasional repeating to clarify, otherwise the drive was quite. The car was clean but felt aged, driving style was slow and relaxed, I never felt unsafe although the brakes shuddered slightly on the long downhill on the way back. I did sleep on the way back, which is testament to the relaxed drive style. Probably the only thing that was a downer was the expectation to buy the driver lunch when I asked if I could please try a local dish, mini bouille. While he found me the meal I requested, he chose a meal twice the price of mine and asked if I would buy him lunch, how could I say no? We did not do the last stop on the tour. We ended it after parc la Vanillie.

          Lovely excursion
San was a lovely guy and really informative about the island. Leisurely tour and no rushing and given plenty of time at each stop. Unfortunately turtles didn’t come out to play but still enjoyable trip. Would highly recommend.

We saw a few turtles, or one, we couldn't tell
Very mixed bag of a day but all in all i found it to be a good day out! Firstly, our driver arrived to pick us up 30 minutes before we were expecting (totally not his fault he showed us the agency booking he received, there was a issue of the agency telling him one time and the trip advisor booking telling us another). Our driver was just amazing, he was so friendly, passionate and engaging with us. We were staying on the south end of the island so it took us around 1.5 hours to get to the first location but the drive and car were pleasant. First stop was the red church which was beautiful. Located on the coast, it boasted a very picturesque beach view. There is a small dock just to the side which you can walk on and see various fish etc swimming about. You can enter the church by pulling the cage door open (it does look closed but try the door!). Once inside there are signs asking for quiet while people look around as it is still a place of worship. Snorkelling with turtles was definitely a highlight of the trip. Once dropped off at the beach, you are met by a guide who goes through the safety rules (don't touch, don't chase, don't dive etc) and then you are shown onto a boat (BRING WATER SHOES!). He the again went through the rules while driving to the location. This is where the trip took a bit of a turn, it was very suddenly a rush to get in the water, very GO GO GO now! there was our boat and around 4/5 others within the same area and around 10 other people, all shouting and directing us where to go while others in the water were doing everything we were told not to do. Our boat driver then told us when we were done to get onto the glass bottom boat when we were done as that is where he would leave our stuff and then quickly left before we could confirm what boat he was referring to. There was a mixture of trying to find where the turtles were, listen out for directions, not hit other swimmers, not swim into the boats around all while fighting the current. All in all, this experience, although great because we got to see turtles, was very stressful and if you aren't a strong swimmer, I would not recommend. Pamplemousses gardens were very nice and pretty but didn't have a lot of plant variety. But it was nice to walk around and relax. Finally Port Louis - quite a chaotic city and smells very heavily of fish. Our lovely driver offered to accompany us around due to haggling in the markets which was massively appreciated. We started at the craft market which was very nice and we did pick up some souvenirs, while our driver stayed in the background, only jumping in to support us when asked. We then walked 30 minutes in what felt like a convection oven (no air and all heat) to the fish / veg market. Honestly, I wouldn't bother unless you are intending on buying fish or veg.

Wonderful sightings of Whales carried out in a respectful manner
An amazing tour and had many sightings of Sperm Whales. Our boat kept a sensible distance but close enough to great a view. Many of the other boats were allowing people to jump off and swim with the whales - this is strictly prohibited in Mauritius. As soon as people did this the whales dived down - it was awful to watch people harassing the whales like this. Purely selfish behaviour with no regard for the Whales. Bonjour Mauritius was very respectful towards the Whales and I would recommend using company. A few tips - wear flip flops as we had to walk through the water to get to the boat. It was only up to ankles so not a big deal. Shoes come off and go in a basket. Make sure you have plenty of time if you are being picked up by taxi. The traffic is very bad at that time of the morning and we only just made it!

My wife and I have just returned from Mauritius for our honeymoon. Unfortunately, despite the previous mostly positive reviews I had read about this tour we were both disappointed with the overall result and would skip this if given the chance to do it all over. We were expecting something different and more tailored provided the price we had paid. I will note that the company was accommodating in changing the date of the tour when our schedule was shaping up different from what we had planned.

Our driver was friendly and tried to cheer us up throughout the day but I think our disappointment on the first leg of the tour of swimming with the dolphins ruined the overall experience as a whole.

Starting with the Dolphin Excursion upon arrival at where the boats leve, it seemed as though the "Captain" was allocating tourists at random on the various boats and had no idea which tourist belonged to which company.

As another person mentioned in a different review The "swimming with the Dolphins" part was very underwhleming and in our case, we had 9-10 boats (about 70 people) chasing 5-6 dolphins. Further due to the weather my wife was extremely cold and was unable to swim at all and simply waited for my whilst I attempted to "swim" with the dolphins, which was essentially trying to jump whilst they passed by with the hope that the other boats/tourist dont scare them away. I'm not even going to comment whether this is ok for the dolphins or not. We spent about 1h wit the dolphins, as opposed to 2.5h as advertised but given the way this part unfolded we were glad it only lasted for 1h.

After that we continued and briefly snorkeled at Tamarin and proceeded to the next part of the tour. Trou aux Cerfs should have been skipped altogether. There is literally nothing to see and not worth the drive.

Similarly, we realised that we would then visit the Grand Bassin (we informed our driver that we did not want to go since we have seen much more impressive ones in other countries)

Black River Gorges was also fine but nothing much to see either, likewise not worth the ride.

Finally, we visited Chamarel as advertised which was quite interesting and we managed to see some wild turtles. The volcanic earth was something cool which could be seen. The waterfall was nothing special. Additionally, the Chamarel entrance fee should have been included in the overall price for the amount paid for this tour

We couldnt wait for this tour to finish and thankfully we were back at our hotel by lunch time and managed to relax. This tour can be completed within 4-5 hours as the time allocated apart from Chamarel is unecessary excessive.

Our driver seemed to be a nice guy overall I consider that his was a poor choice to spend one of our days in Mauritius and was definitely not worth the amount paid.

This trip was all in all terrible and I would not recommend it. The dolphin part was relatively okay - you drive around with a speed boat and try to jump out of the boat close to wild dolphins, but you only have several attempts while you drive around for hours waiting for other people from your group to jump out of the boat (only 5 people at a time), so while it is relatively nice, you waste hours of your time watching other people try to get close to dolphins. The rest of the tour, however, was hell. And this was due to our driver/guide Jay, who was not guiding at all, barely speaking any English, the drive in the car was torture due to a bad smell. We had to endure hours of horrible smell in the car without any opportunity to escape (the open windows did not help). Moreover, at every stop Jay just showed us with a finger where to go, without guiding us or telling us anything about these places. The natural wonders of Mauritius are beautiful, but in this way we were not able to enjoy them or learn anything about them. When we asked him about the sights, to explain some things, he just said that we can read about them on the internet, that he is just a driver. So, this tour is really nothing to be recommended and it ruined our day. The price was high and the tour operator obviously has a deal with the restaurant where he drove us for lunch (we had no choice about the location, although we paid the lunch) and the prices in the restaurant were higher than in other similar places in Mauritius - this made us just feel being ripped off and taken advantage of. Terrible.

This was the worst experience of my life, 16 people crammed onto a small speed boat, going out with 15 other speed boats that had maximum of 6 people, chasing the pod of dolphins and splitting the pod up, the dolphins had come to the spot to feed. There were babies within the pod which were trying to keep up. 4 people out of our boat were allowed in the water at a time, all the other boats everyone got into the sea, the people on our boat had to sit on the side of the boat and jump in as quickly as possible and then they chased the dolphins, 4 minutes later they were called back so the boat could chase after the dolphins again. Next 4 people had to quickly jump in and this was repeated several times. My friend and I refused to jump in as we were terribly disturbed by what we are seeing. When the pod finally went away the boats left. We were then taken to a supposedly coral reef, I went in with my snorkel and only saw rocks and a few fish. The speedboat only had one small rail high up in the boat of which I could not get my leg up to due to a spinal disability, I had to go to the side of the boat of which the 16 people had to stand on the same side, to make the boat lower into the water, I was then unceremoniously dragged onto the boat like a seal. The trip should have been 2 and a half hours swimming with dolphins, snorkelling over a coral reef and going to the volcano after the dolphin experience. Due to being dragged onto the boat the guys pulled at my arms which has made my spinal condition painful. We were told by our taxi driver that we would see the sites we had seen on a day out before this trip. So we went back to the hotel. This was absolutely the worst experience of my life but I should think it’s worst for the poor dolphins and their babies. Plus they were trying to feed so the 15 boats chasing them was heartbreaking to see. My friend and I came away severally upset at what we saw.

Hi Julie, we're very sorry to hear about your experience, and we're sorry you weren't able to complete the afternoon portion of the excursion. We will follow up with the boat operator regarding you experience. We were not aware of any potential physical limitations prior to the trip, as we always inform the operator. Please note that this activity is regulated by the Mauritius Tourism Authority to ensure the wellbeing of the dolphins. We hope you were able to enjoy your trip in Mauritius!

Absolutely incredible. Our day began with a prompt pick up right from the reception of our hotel. We were then taken to the boat for our dolphin experience, stopping on the way to get breakfast. Our driver was Mr. Prakash and was extremely friendly and courteous.

Once on the boat, we spent a few hours following pods of dolphins and taking turns to jump in with them. These guys who drive the boats will keep going until you get the chance to swim with the dolphins, there’s no luck or hope involved - they’ll make it happen!

After that, we were met again by mr. Prakash who took us to the rest of the stops on the trip - volcano, waterfalls, a beautiful Hindu temple, 100ft waterfalls, multi coloured sand dunes and giant tortoises. I can’t speak highly enough of our driver - he did not rush us, we were left to experience each stop at our own pace and leave when we were ready and he was very informative when we asked to learn more.

100% book this trip, the value for money is extraordinary and you won’t be disappointed.

Organised this trip with the taxi firm outside of the hotel.you can hire a taxi and driver for 4000 rupees including tip. We did the south tour and basically anything else was not any trouble .charamel was interesting and very colourful . We put this in as part of our itinerary of other places to visit .probably an hour is enough. Best go on bright sunny day to get best colours. Use a Polariser filter!

The day started with the dolphin tour early in the morning. However, it was completely different from what we have expected. The boats cruised around the dolphins, leaving them confused and encaged in the middle of the water. It felt very uncomfortable to watch this practice. I dont think its animal friendly. It seems to be a general issue in the commercialized swimming with dolphins industry.

After that we snorkeled at tamarin bay which was fine and beautiful.

The volcanic wonders tour was nice. We had a driver who accompanied us but no guide. This was not a guided tour as advertised. To get all the information, you need to find infos out yourself or ask the driver which is obviously not his job.

The driver was very nice, he brought us to all the extra stops we have asked for. And even bought sweets as it was my birthday.

The viewpoints were amazing, even at rain. We were at the seven wonders where we have done ziplining. The entrance fee and ziplining is not included in the price. Other than that everything else is free and very beautiful.

Hi, thanks for your feedback, and we're happy you enjoyed the snorkelling and afternoon portion of the tour. Thanks for pointing out that the diver-guide provides background information on the attractions, but does not accompany you into the attractions. We tried to make this clear in the tour description, but we will make sure it's being communicated properly in all languages. We wish you a great rest of your stay in Mauritius, and a safe trip home!

Our driver Yaasir was really friendly and supportive. He answered many of our questions and explained a lot about the island, the culture and the traditions. He even tried to find a serious shop for us to buy sunglasses and don‘t get ripped.
Swimming with the dolphines was really fun. We saw around 100 of them and were really close after jumping into the water (but they are fast as hell…).
There is no locker / room to change your clothes or shower at the beach from where you are starting/ endinhg the boat trip. Only really disgusting toilets without tab water.
The rest of the trip was interesting but not too exciting.

There are also people at the beach who try to sell you a trip to the dolphines. They ask for about 200€ for the trip and this is only dolphines without the rest.

Ps.: Don‘t go to Rubens Restaurant (it is called something like that) in Chemarel. It is not good food and really expensive (european prices). We paid ~45€ for two not so good curries.

First time in Mauritius and the first tour I have booked for 4 persons. Weather was against our full-Day tour so most of the places weren't enjoyable at fullest. Rain started during the Snorkeling near the coral reef. However, the part of swimming with dolphins was the best adventure from the whole package, for which I am giving the 4****. Leon and the boat keeper make the trip to be full of adrenaline for the whole group and we enjoy it. A lady from the group was feeling not well, so we had to return to the shore but after that we continued our journey in the open sea. Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark was seen part of it, because the the 8hrs program of our driver was finished and he told us he can not stay longer, so we had to make just a short visit and end up the tour. The visit to the handcrafts manufactures make only to lose time and shorting the other places for visit time. I would suggest to be included only at client request, otherwise is not worth it.

Hi Carmen, thanks for your review and feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the day overall, and we'll follow up with the driver regarding your feedback. While the tour is typically about 8 hours, our drivers should prioritize guests seeing all of the sites. We will follow up with your driver to make sure this is the case going forward, and we apologize for the short visit at Chamarel. Thanks!

We were picked up early in the morning and driven straight to the dolphin’s experience, the time out on the boat was great, and we did see a couple of dolphins, but there were so many boats and people doing the same thing, following the dolphins that it was hard to get a clear view and we didn’t want to jump in with them as we felt it was unfair on the dolphins, it was great so observe them from afar though.

The rest of the day was great, we visited so many different things, the chamarel 7 colours was beautiful as were the giant tortoises.

Our driver was really helpful and he took us to a Mauritian restaurant as we had some time for lunch and we wanted something authentic. It didn’t disappoint. I recommend this trip, as it was a good experience and day out.

we enjoyed this tour; it was just me and my partner in a taxi being drove around. there were a lot of lovely places that we visited and got to see more of the island. the swimming with dolphins was more of a swim in the sea where the dolphins have just swum away from and there were lots of boats chasing them so was a little chaotic. there was lovely scenery though and lots of fish at the place for snorkelling. the driver was very good and was able to answer questions we had and told us information about the different areas. really enjoyed this trip it was at a nice, relaxed pace and being only the 2 of us was nice as we normally do group tours.
