Climb aboard the boat and begin your voyage to the distant Floating Islands - a 25-minute journey, in which you can absorb the tranquillity and stillness of the magnificent Lake Titicaca, only disrupted by the passing of another vessel. As you approach your destination, take note of the large, grass-like reeds growing by the wayside, which are famously used in the construction of the islands you’re about to visit. Practice your Quechua greetings with your guide, and get ready to meet the Uros people, who are eagerly waiting to receive you. On arrival, you’ll be helped down onto dry land, and shown around one of the islands. Meet the local inhabitants, see the way they live, and learn from your guide just how vital the totora reed is for this community. You’ll be given the opportunity to ride on a traditional reed boat (at an additional cost), and experience this unique form of transport normally used by the island dwellers. In this modern day and age, it is rare to find a community who have such a special relationship with their surrounding environment, and with such an ingenious way to live sustainably. Seize the chance to pay a visit to the Uros people whilst you’re in Puno, and witness this for yourself!

Scared witless in a taxi, turned out OK.
My "guide" was 25 minutes late collecting me. We walked round the block and I was ushered into a random taxi, no seat belts. Three minutes later, swapped into another taxi, no seat belts. The taxi driver drove like Mad Max in an apocalyptic race out of town, 110kph in a 40kph, no seatbelts. After 35 minutes I was "swapped" out to join another tour in the middle of nowhere who had been looking at Alpacas and Guinea Pigs - great. On the bus with a new "guide" we arrived at Sillustani. The new guide was excellent, the tour was worth going on but the travel company need a serious look at their logistics and customer safety.

Great day in the Puno area!
We weren’t really sure what to expect, but this tour was fantastic! Our guide (Manuel) provided us with plenty of information and we appreciated seeing the distinct cultures of 2 islands that are so near to each other. The lunch was fantastic as well! A word of warning though - there was a fair bit of uphill walking which at this altitude can be tough. Not a reason not to go, just be prepared!

          Caution Scam
Don't book this tour, seems to be a scam. We were not picked up, no one answered the phone and there is no agency at the address. Don't know if I get the money back.

          Wonderful Trip
I was quite unsure amon what to expect from this tour and it was over and above my expectations. They were easy to communicate and we're very helpful. The pickup was ontime and in a very nice and comfortable vehicle. The guide was the best I had in all of South American trip. His knowledge was just amazing. If you are planning your trip to Lake Titicaca then this is the company you should consider.

          A Must
This was above and beyond my expectation. The tour took me to three different islands on the Peruvian side of the lake. It was nice to get a first hand experience and information about the life and community of the people on these islands. This couldn't have been any better.

          Nice Trip
Was a quick short half day trip. It was a good tour of the funeral tombs, there weren´t many people there so it was easy to walk around and click some nice photos. The guide explained many facts in details.

          Excellent Tour
This was by far the best trip we had. It had a good cultural influence with a combination of nature and history. Our host family on Amantani island were very nice and hospitable. They went above and beyond in making our stay a pleasant one. Our guide Ricardo had a good knowledge and maintained a postive and energetic approach on both day throughout the tour. A very well planned trip. Highly recommended.

The natives living on the floating islands use a number of different boats (some of them are modern with gas engines) to get around and to do the daily chores, but the big reed boats (made in town by experts that have the tools to build such large boats) shown in the picture are not made by the natives. These are "show boats" to handle big tourists crowds to move you from one floating island to another.

From what we could gather, the boats are not historic in nature. These are very slow and tough to move (the natives do the owrk for you) in between the isoans. However, for abotu

        A wonderful experience!
We were met in the Cathedral Square by Nancy who was a most efficient tour operator. She was in touch with me regularly after booking to check we knew where to go. At the quayside she introduced us to our guide and we set off with a group of Peruvians, Italians and Bolivians.
We stopped at the first island and our guide gave us information in English whilst the others were meeting the head of the island. Sadly it started to rain but we were invited into their homes and met the family.
We were offered the opportunity to go by a traditional boat to the second island - which was uninhabited but had food and drink facilities, as well as many artefacts.
We returned to Puno in the big boat and watched the most magnificent sunset.
A truly uplifting experience in so many ways.

The tour included admission to Uros Island. After a half-hour boat trip followed about 20 minutes of information about the inhabitants and the construction technique of the islands. After that, the trip was more of a sales event. To travel by traditional boat one was more or less forced. If you were persistent, however, you could also refuse. Nevertheless, we were happy to have made the tour, as the islands are something special for Lake Titikaka.

This trip is extremely worth it. Lake Titicaca is massive and due to short of time we just managed to visit Uros islands which is very nice and well maintained. We learnt a lot about the culture and traditions of the people living on these islands. Although it is a bit touristy, it is well worth the visit.

We had a fantastic time doing this half day trip of Lake Titicaca. They are very professional team of people and are very excellent and friendly. They offered a free pickup from our hotel and dropped us back too. Although the island is somewhat touristy, it is very unique and worth visiting.

I did not have much time and I decided to do this tour enroute to Bolivia. I had the best time visiting the floating islands. They picked me up from the bus terminal and let me store my bags in therir office for free while I was on tour. The guide was very nice and shared a lot of information. After the tour, they also dropped me back to the terminal. A very nice experience and I will surely consider them if I am ever in Puno again.
