A must see Litong is only ten mins from Terra Cotta soldiers,slice performance it is amazing. Best live performance I’ve seen was this one a love story about the King and his love!!! Xian in April had another amazing live performance in city centre park a definite must see the whole town is there and it is AMAZING entire town is gorgeous and full of fresh flowers everywhere!!! Gorgeous!!!Vehing and palace is amazing. Stay at Howard Johnston get the suite with king bed I don’t think I paid more than 275$ call king sunk in tub private with tv shower. 15 chef stations for complimentary breakfast breathtaking chandeliers in foyer coffered ceiling in my bedroom huge living room separate living space approx 1000sq ft. A must. Close to train station palace and tinamaan square. Across from police station manger and concierge great. I travelled alone. Felt safe entire time.

It uis on the way to the Terracotta Warriors so worth combining the two sites and making a day of it. It is very popular with Chinese tour groups, so mentally prepare yourself for crowds. Having said that, the crowds ebb and flow. So if you have patience and wait a few minutes the crowds disperse and you get get great photos before the next horde descend. I enjoyed it but remember, like most sites in Xian, it costs to enter, so if on a budget you can skip without missing a "must see".

It was a Summer Palace during Dynasty Tang. It also famous as Imperial Royal Hot Springs. Still can see one of the bathtub for 1st Lady Concubine Yang. This

The palace is beautiful and well preserved. This is an area of hot springs and you can have a bath (RMB295/person) or a feet bath (RMB50/person) while enjoying a cup of tea. Please be sure to watch The Everlasting Sorrow show. It worths reading a bit about the Concubine Yang Guifei before the show, then you can understand it better. The show is amazing!!

This attraction is pretty close to the Terracotta warriors and is certainly worth a visit. For those who know Chinese history, Yang guifei is reputed to be one of the most beautiful women during her time. This palace is where she lived with her emperor husband who took her away from his own son. A key attraction is the hotspring bath areas for the couple. Yet another reason to visit is because this is the palace from which Chiang Kai She was arrested and overthrown in 1936. You will be able to spot the bullet holes that resulted from the gunfight preceding the arrest.

Great place to see. Full of history unknown to Europeans. The performance next to the palace is a must see, one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen. Greetings from Poland!

This is a beautiful place from the Tang Dynasty during the era of Yang Guifei, one of the 4 great beauties of Chinese history. There are some "royal baths" within the complex. Take approx 1-2 hours for a visit. Has nice garden as well.

This is a huge place. The gardens are really nice and you can take a cable car up the hill or you can opt to walk up, but that will probably take you at least two to three hours. Should come here only as part of your terracotta trip.

Huaquing Palace was part of a daylong guided trip, and one I didn't know much about. It was presented as the winter palace and bath house of an early Qin dynasty emperor, with a subplot focused on one of his concubines, which was interesting, and certainly the site and its well-maintained ancient (reconstructed?) buildings and bathhouses were impressive. The part that surprised me however was the story of later-day lodgers on the palace grounds, specifically Chiang Kai-Shek, who was captured here, and the fact that the palace was the site where the Communists and Nationalists of 20th century China agreed to temporarily put aside difference to fight together against the threat from Japan. All of this, presented from the Chinese perspective, which we never hear in the USA, was both engaging and very interesting to the history-buff part of my brain!

A Palace used for relaxation by the great tang emperor li long ji and his concubine yang gui fei. Its also a place where Chiang Kai-shek was held captive for 2 months in order to get him to agree to cooperate with the communists to fight the Japanese during World War 2, so a place of great historical significance, highly recommended.

The place is beautiful, can easily walk around slowly about 2 hours. Some places are flat walk, one place can climb up high on the hill. We took the buggy tour just round the flat area end about 40 minutes including some photo shots stops and pools area. The draw back is they charge full tickets price for all foreigners including children and senior citizen which is too high.

Visited this palace and was utterly impressed. We took the cable car up Li Shan and was swamped by a group of elderly ladies who disguised themselves as providing free information about the places of interest. They persuaded us to take the bus that will bring us to a few “attractions”. In our opinion, this is a total waste of time. There were well marked signs for walking down the path/stairs to Hua Qin Palace. The admission ticket included visits to a number of museums within the palace. There were also paid foot baths and spa which were all artificial. The vendors just poured water into the concrete holes and let you soak your feet/body. We did not try these. Enjoyed walking around the palace. Building were restored nicely and there were many lakes and ponds. Serenity.

Beautiful, enchanting, relaxing and like no other. We visited here during the day and then returned in the evening for the everlasting song of sorrow. I was in complete awe of the Palace when I arrived and even though it rained in evening during the show, it definitely did not ruin the show at all. Completely spell bound by the beauty of the show and how it is done. You literally have to see it to believe it. Amazing people. We were told about the story of the show before we saw it which was very helpful but even so, the choreography of this is second to none.

One of the rare examples where Tang Dynasty palaces were able to be preserved and refurbished (1980s including some artwork). The winter Palace is worth a visit. You may even wish to bathe in the hot springs from the same water source as those from the Tang Dynasty. Night shows also available except during winter.

The Palace is an excellent place to appreciate the traggic love story btwn Emperor Xuanzong and his favourite concubine Lady Yang. There's a lot of history to be learnt with a guide. Without a guide however, a trip here would be really bland. The landscape and structures are very pretty.
