Half Day Walking Tour
Time: 10:00-13:00 (about 3 hours, no lunch)
Adult: 4,000 yen (minimun 2 people)
Child: 2,000 yen (Age 7-15) **children and infants must be accompanied by adult.
Infant: Free of charge (Age 0-6)

JR Saga-Arashiyama Station (10:00)
Take Kyoto bus (about 7 min. bus fare 230 yen)
Otagi-nenbutsuji temple (entrance fee 300 yen)
Preserved town area of Saga-Toriimoto
Bamboo grove
Nonomiya shrine (we dismiss here)

* This tour is not covered by insurance, so please participate in this tour at your own risk.
* Bus fare 230 yen per adult (120 yen per child) and entrance fee to Otagi temple 300 yen per adult are additionally needed.

What to Expect
With just a 20 min. ride from Kyoto station, you can slip back into the scenery of 400 years past.
Sagano used to be a place for resort villas for aristocrats in the old days. No skyscrapers, just the wind flowing through the bamboo grove as you see low mountains surrounding you...surely a relaxing atmosphere. Our tour course and itinerary are throught out by Kyotoites living in Sagano, who know the best spots and things in the area. Kyoto guides invite you exckusively to Sagano, a Japanese gem, where only locals know.

* You can use JR Pass to get to JR Saga-Arashiyama Station.

Access from JR Kyoto station (about 20 min.)
Take JR Sagano line (platform 32, 33) to JR Saga-Arashiyama station.
To join our tour, we recommend you take the 9:38 train from JR Kyoto station at the latest.

Overrated!!! Don’t go!!!

On several occasions, Condé Nast magazine featured stellar, colorful pictures of Kyoto’s Bamboo Forest without a single human being in sight. They ranked it among the top 50 most beautiful sites in the world. Of course, they also recommended Bruges, Belgium. What a disappointment that...More

Christmas & New Year in Japan

There are so many amazing places to visit in Kyoto, and probably amongst the best well known is the famous Bamboo Forest. It is truly lovely and well worth the visit, however, don't expect to take pictures without tourists being part of the photograph!

Worth every second spent there

Amazing scenery, pleasant walk, great atmosphere, never skip. Best when combined with cherry blossom around.
