Our family of 5 met Yoko for our hiking tour to Fushini Inari . We had a fantastic time and Yoko gave excellent explanations and educated us in the religions of Japan . We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour on one of the most busiest days of the year. I can highly recommend Yoko as a guide and this tour have an inside look without all the crowds .

This was a gorgous trip to take in the fall. I would defiitely recommend going around that time to see the autumn leaves.
Akiko-san made the trip perfect by knowing how to avoid crowds. We were able to take perfect pictures without anyone in the background.
Akiko-san was also very informative about the history of the shrine and answereed all my questions with the nuance that only a local would know.
It was the highlight of my trip to Kyoto and I would definitely recommend this tour, esepcially during high tourism in fall and spring

I booked the trip last minute and everything worked our perfectly both with the experience and our guide Yuya. He is a very atypical Japanese who speaks very fluent English after quitting his daily job as a clerk in a big corporation. His passion for people and for Kyoto (he is a native by the way) is the key to this memorable trip. We took the trail behind the mountain (meaning beating all the crowd) and get to the top of the mountain with bamboos and trees surrounded us. When we finished the trip, he even took us to a local Cafe (Vermillion) which is another pleasant surprise. I highly recommend Magical Tour and if you have a chance to have Yuya as your guide, you will enjoy even more.

Really informative tour! Encountered very few other tourists along the way as few know about this secret trail, which begins in a residential area. A few parts of the trail can be tricky with running water, slippery rocks and mud, so dress appropriately (aka walking shoes). Also recommend wearing pants as there are tons of mosquitoes especially in the bamboo groves. Guides Akiko and Jeff were really knowledgeable and shed some light into religion and culture, which was awesome. They were also really attentive and looked out for me when I had difficulty crossing some of the trickier parts of the trail. Akiko also provided some really great food recommendations in Kyoto. Highly recommend this amazing experience especially if you want to get photos without the swarm of tourists at the main shrine entrance.

Definitely a magical experience and one we couldn’t do on our own! So nice to take a morning hike through a lush & calm area of Kyoto. It’s about 7km in 3-ish hours to go up, over and around the Fushimi Inari Shrine, starting at Tofukuji Station. We had a little rain and our kombini umbrellas doubled as walking sticks. Some areas are a little steep and agility helps but you can take your time. Our group ranged in age from mid-twenties to 60-ish. Despite the rain it was not too slippery but decent shoes are needed (no sandals). Our guide Hikari was great at keeping the group together while allowing everyone to travel at their own pace, plus she’s an excellent photographer! She taught us a great deal about the area, the shrine, both Shinto and Buddhist religions, the bamboo groves, oh and even some restaurant recommendations! Thank you, Hikari, for one of the highlights of our first trip to Japan!

This really is a very special tour where you get to experience nature and history in a very unique way. Jeff the tour guide was absolutely delightful. Charming, polite and very keen to share his knowledge. I found it a tough hike and struggled on quite a few occasions but Jeff was very kind and patient. I'm very glad I pushed myself to take part in this experience as due to me being not hugely fit I was a bit out of my comfort zone. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys beautiful scenery and secluded shrines/ temples off the beaten track.

First and foremost, my wife and I want to give our tour guide Nobu, a solid 10/10 for being so amazing! The trip itself was remarkable…going off the beaten path in the lush green trails as a back way into Fushumi Inari. Parts of the tour were quiet and intimate, and the early start was perfect before getting a little crowded towards the end. Nobu was very knowledgeable sharing interesting historical facts, communicating how long certain sections of the tour would take, offering breaks when needed, and going the extra mile by being an excellent photographer! We cannot recommend this tour enough! Do yourself a favor and embark on the adventure :)

The Fushima Torii Gates are a must see and this was such a unique way to traverse there. Hina was a wonderful tour guide who taught us all about the history and meaning behind different aspects of the gates. She was full of knowledge and had diagrams to help us understand the details. She was really sweet and engaging with each family member and even had bug spray to protect us from the hungry mosquitos.
The hike was challenging, but fun. Our kids (11 and 16) enjoyed the special trek that was different from your average hike. This one included rocks, bamboo forests, bridges and numerous shrines. The hike is not the traditional one from the subway station, but through a secluded forest that is away from the crowds. We felt like we had the shrines all to ourselves. The photo opportunities are one of a kind.
We went on a hot day, but thankfully the hike is quite shaded. We recommend bringing fans, umbrellas, and other cooling devices to help you power through. There are plenty of stops where you can purchase drinks to hydrate.

Akiko was amazingggg. This was a legit hike for my out of shape American butt lol. Definitely not a leisure “hike” I’m used to. There was incline, some muddy areas, and the pace was quick, but easy to keep up. Wouldn’t suggest this if you have injuries and weak ankles.
I loved the fact that we took the back way when we started and avoided the huge crowds of people at the start of the hike. She showed us some of the cool little shrines off the beaten path and the history/facts about Shinto Buddhism. Also she explained the syinbism between the foxes and the items they carry in their mouths. We went all the way to the very top of the shrine and had soooo many photo ops without the crowd of people. Many people get stuck in the beginning of the shrines and take photos there but they’re all over the premises during the hike.
Akiko’s not only a great tour guide for the hike but photographer as well. She photos for everyone who wanted a photo and made sure to get the good angles.
The hike was 3 hours long so I’d suggest eating a big breakfast and wear good shoes. Also, bring a light jack even if it’s cold because you do warm up and start sweating during the hike. I wouldn’t recommend bringing a parka bc you’ll need to carry it for the rest of the way.
