Perfect Kyoto Day with my Son - Thanks, Toshi!
Our Kyoto tour with Toshi and City Unscripted was fantastic! My 11-year-old son and I had a blast. The itinerary was packed, but Toshi managed the timing perfectly, getting us to Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji (the Golden Temple!), Arashiyama, and Nishiki Market all before our finish time. Toshi was an excellent guide – friendly, professional, and super patient, especially with my son. He really made the tour special for him. The bamboo forest in Arashiyama was a definite highlight, and my son was mesmerized by the Golden Temple. We highly recommend Toshi and City Unscripted for a fun and memorable Kyoto experience! Five stars!

The best of Kyoto walking tour with Tom
Tom was an excellent guide. So knowledgeable about Kyoto, both from a contemporary perspective and historical. Lots of fun and interesting sights he was able to point out as well. He adjusted the tour to our fitness level and showed us some less touristy parts of Kyoto as well as the tourist spots. Highly recommend Tom for your walking tour of Kyoto.

      Fantastic Kyoto Tour with Milos
Milos was an excellent guide! I spent half a day with him touring Kyoto. He was a wealth of historical knowledge, which is exactly what I was hoping for. Milos has in-depth information on culture, religion, politics, different eras, the arts, as well as insights into modern Japanese culture. He is easy going, flexible with the itinerary, patient, happy to stop for snacks, helped me navigate the train system, and as per my request, directed me toward the local artisans shops for a few gifts. We covered a lot of ground by foot and train, and although it was very cold out, the hours seemed to fly by. I highly recommend Milos. You will have a fantastic tour with him.

An Unforgettable Tour with Ryuki – A Must-Do in Kyoto!
If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience in Kyoto, look no further than a tour with Ryuki! We had the absolute pleasure of exploring Gion with him, and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip. Ryuki is not only incredibly knowledgeable about Kyoto’s rich history, but he also has a gift for storytelling that brings the past to life. As we wandered through the charming streets of Gion, he shared fascinating insights about the area’s geisha culture, historical landmarks, and hidden gems that we never would have found on our own. Beyond his expertise, Ryuki is a joy to be around—warm, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what he does. He made us feel welcome and ensured that every moment was enjoyable. Whether you’re a history buff or just want a deeper appreciation of Kyoto, Ryuki is the guide you need. This tour was worth every moment, and we can’t recommend Ryuki highly enough. If you’re visiting Kyoto, make sure to book with him—you won’t regret it!

An authentic, fun and professional tour
Ryuki did a wonderful job on our tour. He was warm, friendly and authentic being a local from Kyoto. He knew lots about where he took us which was boosted by his extra academic studies on history and cultural relevance. We really enjoyed everything about what he offered with his flexible nature and local recommendations which extended beyond our tour with him. Highly recommended - and we are forward looking to him visiting Australia again.

      Mia is amazing!
Mia was amazing. I am not normally one to want to go on tours of old religious sites when I am on vacation. But I thought I should give it a try since this may be the only time I ever go to Kyoto. Well, I am so happy I went on this tour with Mia. Mia made these ancient sites come to life. Her insights into Japanese history and culture were fascinating. She also brought us to a hole-in-the-wall Ramen place for lunch in the middle of the tour, which was the best food we had in Japan! Overall, I found that Mia made this a profoundly moving travel experience, one which I will never forget.

      Mia is wonderful!!!!
Mia was an amazing tour guide. I’m actually not normally very excited to walk around old religious sites. But Mia made all of places just come to life. She offered fascinating insights into Japanese history and culture. I was emotionally moved by my time at these sites with her. She also took us to a great ramen place - it was the best meal we had during our time in Joan! I cannot recommend Mia more highly. She gave us such an amazing travel experience, one which I will never forget.

      Excellent customized tour, highly recommended.
Excellent custom 1:1 half-day walking tour of Kyoto with a great guide who read my input and already had a great tour in mind based on my questionnaire, but also had options along the way to modify if desired. It was truly unscripted and I got to see everything I was hoping to, along with a couple cool things I would have never found on my own. Great conversation and lots of clear explanations with historical context. Had a great time, highly recommend.

Wonderful experience! We learned a lot and heard so much history and behind the scenes information on what stereotypes are true and which ones not true.

It’s like seeing a new city with a friend!
Kenta did SUCH a great job planning our tour today! We were feeling a bit overwhelmed at the thought of trying to navigate so many places on our trip to Japan, so we decided to hire private tours in the major cities we are visiting for the first days. No regrets on this decision whatsoever! Kenta was very relaxed and easy to talk to. He showed us some amazing highlights that were more off the beaten path, unique and not crowded at all! He told us some amazing history and really helped lay the ground work for our trip so we can see what we’d like to do for the rest of our trip. He also gave us some really amazing food recommendations as well. We’re ready to explore more of the city now! Thank you Kenta!

Incredible Kyoto Walking Tour with Toshi
During our visit to Kyoto, we chose to do a private walking tour, and it turned out to be the best decision! Our guide, Toshi, was fantastic—his deep knowledge of the city's history and culture really brought the experience to life. He answered all our questions and made sure we enjoyed a perfect balance of cultural insights and historical context as we explored Kyoto. It was the ideal way to wrap up our two-week adventure in Japan. I highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Kyoto!

An unforgettable tour through Osaka – Thanks to an amazing guide!

Our trip to Osaka became an absolute highlight thanks to Milo, our incredible tour guide! From the very beginning, he was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which instantly made us feel at ease. His enthusiasm for the city was contagious, and he managed to show us not only the major landmarks but also the hidden gems and small treasures along the way.

What impressed us the most was his extensive knowledge. Milo was able to answer every single one of our questions – whether it was about Osaka's history, cultural nuances, or the little details we would have never noticed on our own. From traditional temples to modern neighborhoods, he explained everything in a vivid and engaging way that was never dull or overwhelming.

His English was exceptional, making communication effortless. Not only did he speak fluently, but he also managed to explain complex cultural contexts clearly and understandably. Thanks to him, we were able to fully immerse ourselves in Osaka's culture and history.

What we particularly appreciated was his personal touch: Milo tailored the tour perfectly to our interests and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout the day.

Im the travelagent of this guest review and i am more than happy an thankful that Milo took so very good care of my guests. Thank you very much !

My Osaka tour with Ajic was disappointing. We had pre-discussed where we wanted to tour and that we wanted learn the background history of the area we were visiting.

He was a nice tour guide, and had prepared and explained history of Osaka Castle, planned out to have the lunch experience in Dotonbori as we requested. But upon asking more questions about the history of Dotonbori and other areas in Osaka, he was not able to explain. Being a non-Japanese and having lived in Osaka for 6 years, his knowledge of the city seemed cursory and his command of the English language was also lacking.

Hi Nanae, I understand the frustration of having a host who didn't meet your expectations, especially after discussing all the details beforehand. I'm truly sorry that your experience didn't align with your desire to delve into historical and cultural insights. Your feedback truly matters to us, and we'd love to create a more fulfilling experience for you next time with a local who perfectly fits your preferences. Warm regards, Ruslan and the City Unscripted Team.
