About
This tour begins on the terrace of our studio workshop in a beautiful spot in the Gion. Enjoy a local food tasting platter as well as your choice of a sake tasting flight, a cold beer or a delicious green tea! From here we begin a magical walk through the backstreets of Gion. Avoiding crowded or touristy areas will allow you to take in atmospheric local shrines and picturesque lantern-lit alleyways while you enjoy our commentary. After our downhill walking tour through the neighbourhood, we will introduce you to a members only bar for a bite to eat and a further drink. Expect friendly people, interesting conversation and laughter as the night draws to an end!

A great way to experience a different side of Kyoto
Oct 2019
My partner and I were well received by our host, Jamie, who gave us a great beer, sake and whisky tasting at the studio along with some delicious yakitori skewers and a hotpot (made by his wife Aya, which was very tasty!). Even though it was just my partner and I on the tour Jamie was great and it felt like we were visiting a friend rather than a standard food tour.

We headed out on a walk through Gion (which is quiet but lovely at night) to a great member's only bar and later for okonomiyaki. Jamie explained lots of interesting facts about the area along the way (which was much better than the rubbish tour guide we had the day before!!!).

All in all we had a great experience and would highly recommend this, particularly if you want to get away from the crazy crowds of tourists in daytime Kyoto.

Thanks for a great night in Kyoto!
Hannah and Gareth :)
