Batu Caves: An extraordinary experience
Jun 2019 • Solo
I was impressed with the size and beauty of the statue that impose its serene and majestic aura. The monastic blessing is a necessary step on your preparation to climb the steps that leads to the cave. Amidst people and all sorts of monkey personalities the climbing experience will be a beautiful memory to cherish for the rest of your life. It is definitely a site to visit in Kuala Lumpur.

Waste of time
Aug 2018 • Friends
Where do I start. We booked for the morning pickup and waited outside our hotel from 8:30 to 9:45 when I eventually called them to find out what was happening. They then said the driver was there to collect us but we weren't waiting so they left. NO DRIVER OR GUIDE EVER ARRIVED! Then we got moved to the afternoon tour which was ok...underwhelming to say the least. First stop the Pewter factory (not a bad stop but just a ploy to try sell you something). Then you go to some little warehouse where they show you how to fold a scarf... this part of the tour is absolutely pointless... Then we finally get to what is meant to be the highlight of the tour and everything at BATU caves is under tarpaulin being renovated so you walk up the steps look in the cave and thats it. All shrines and temples are covered up so its not even photo worthy... rather pay a GRAB driver to take you and drop you off. You will save time and money>

Dear Bradley P, Thank you for your time and reviewing our product. We appreciate our clients' feedback as it is our guideline to improve our services' quality, we have highlighted your feedback to our product team and asked them to review the Batu Cave Tour itinerary, However please take note that majority of our clients is happy and satisfied with the tour, you may see some of their reviews on Tripadvisor as well. As for the pickup, we checked and confirm that the driver came to your hotel on time, but they could not locate you in the lobby area, as per hotel's report, they tried to contact you, but you were not in the room. From your review we learned that you waited outside the hotel. We also note that our operation team re-arranged the tour for the afternoon session as a gesture of goodwill. Once again we thank you for your review, we hope to welcoming you to Malaysia very soon.

Caves were a great experience!
Jul 2018 • Couples
Caves were a great experience and must see when visiting KL. There's 272 steps to get to the top. Make sure you wear something that covers your knees or you can also borrow a cover for 5 RM and then you get 2 RM back when you return it. Once you get to the top, there's a temple. A lot of monkeys on the way. Since this is a group tour, you'll have to have a lot of patience. We rode in a coach bus with a lot of people. There were two stops before the caves. One was the Pewter factory. That was interesting to walk through and the other was a fabric factory. That one I can skip. The reason why you'll have to have patience is because there will be people who take a little more time at each stop. If you're not interested, you'll still have to wait. We were hoping to make it back in time for another toured we had scheduled but we ended up being late because there's a lot of sitting around waiting. We only spent about 45 minutes at the caves which was supposed to be the highlight of the tour. No fault to our guide since he was just doing his job and taking us where he was supposed to. If you really want to spend time at the cave and not have to waste your time waiting around, I suggest you take a taxi. Caves are free.

Incredible Batu Caves
Mar 2018 • Friends
I would recommend the morning tour, as it gets very hot later on. carry water and dress respectfully as it is a religious place.
Our tour guide was very friendly and picked us up on time from the hotel, no problems. he tells you about the place on the way, but doesn't take you in i.e. you are dropped off and wander around on your own while he waits in the parking.
the Batik shop was pretty boring, basically 2 mins of how they make it and then its for you to shop. no one pressures you, so that's okay.
the Royal Selangor pewter tour was really interesting, you get a tour guide that speaks excellent English and I ended up buying two pewter dragons :)

Good tour guide
Apr 2018 • Family
Pewter factory was interesting, kids and adults learned a lot there, although the guides at the factory were very rigid and not overly personable. Batik shop was nice and is good to appreciate how clever the artists are. Batu caves was amazing to see, glad we went there.
Half day tour is more than enough if you have children.

Lovely caves, poor tour
The caves are lovely and my kids enjoyed them.

The tour guide however was a shambles. She didn't really know any facts as we drove out to the pewter factory and on to the caves. Every sentence was a guess at what was going on around. Pretty poor.

Visiting the scarf factory was a complete waste.

Only half hour from central of KL, you don't need to buy any tour with a travel operator do it yourself is very cheap. When you arrive there you are going to see something incredible this place is a MUST to visit.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

Can highly recommend the tour! Even though we got lost in the system after a phonecall to the tour operator, we were sent a private car and guide within the next 15 minutes. We did visit the Royal Selangor factory, but felt a bit rushed by the factory guide. I had advised the driver to skip the batik workshop we had experienced before and to take us straight to the caves. He made the trip via the small C'apple chocolate factory which was very informative and we enjoyed being exposed to distinct Malay chocolate. Even me who can spend her life without the sweets. The caves were worth seeing. Be prepared for very narrow, high and on this occasion wet steps. Very touristy and still being built up, but we enjoyed it. Our driver/guide was very informative and quite a lovely man. Well worth the money, I don't know what's special that other operators are offering for a lot more to pay.

The tour was composed of a visit to a pewter manufacturer, the Royal Selangor, and a small Batik boutique selling scarves.
The main attraction was the Batu Caves, which was nice.
