About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- voyageurexceptionel0 contributionsAbsolutly Amazing ExperienceIt was amazing!! the organization was perfect, early wake up call, a car pick you up and en route for amazing aventures - saw monkeys, alligators, sloth, pink dolphins, piranhas, all of these without interacting and disturbing too much with the wild life (important to me). We had a fantastic just cooked lunch near the river by one of our host: Fresh delicious fish, rice, fruits, salads...our guides were wonderful and friendly, with a lot of Amazon knowledge, we learned a lot. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that want to have a more "eco" friendly tour that does not impact too much the faune and the flore. THANK YOU to the team, will be back soon.Written 18 March 2025
- Y1867OFsamanthab0 contributionsFun in the jungleWe had a group of three - we really enjoyed our time in the jungle. We stayed in the lodge on the first night. Accommodation was a small, old cabin with AC which worked 80% of the time. Food was buffet style and was good. We slept in the jungle in hammocks on night two - what an experience! Bring mosquito repellent and white long clothing as this will help! It was fascinating - we felt well looked after! We learnt loads about the jungle, we went piranha fishing and alligator spotting. All things were amazing! Highly recommend!Written 17 March 2025
- C T0 contributionsWell worth it - not to longThis was surprisingly good. We saw the joining of the two rivers, swam with dolphins, a nice buffet lunch, fished for giant fish, did a small easy hike to see giant water lilies and some wildlife and finally a traditional native village. Our guide was excellent and a good time was had by all. Plus we saw in 4 or 5 hours what other tours took 12 hours to do. Trust me don’t do super long tours in the Amazon it’s not fun.Written 15 March 2025

- teekay202020180 contributionsVery good tourPick up from hotel was as agreed and punctual. The tour was well organised. It was a very large group of about 60 people, but still managed well. Visited the two rivers meeting point with plenty of opportunities to take pictures. This was the highlight of the day. Another highlight was the visit to the local community. Lunch was also very good. The rest of the day was filled up with visits to shops and sellers which you can ignore. You return to the harbour at 3pm.Written 2 March 2025
- Yvonne S0 contributionsFrom Nightmare to Wow!What a great experience! I booked this tour a couple of weeks ago. A flight delay caused me to miss it. I immediately contacted Viator and the tour company when I knew I wouldn't arrive in time. Viator said I couldn't get a refund. The tour company; however, worked with me to reschedule. And what a great tour it was! This was the 1st time I've EVER been piranha fishing! Our guide was great, and I even caught 2 piranha! After fishing, the alligator tour was also unique. The same guide used spotlights to find the gators, then got us close to them. Fabulous time. Kudos to Leonardo for working with me so I could enjoy this wonderful tour!!!Written 24 February 2025
- timothyc3970 contributionsA Great Experience! But...Best to Book This Directly, Rather Than Through Amazon Amazing ToursThis was an amazing life experience: four days on a series of rivers with opportunities to see beautiful jungle scenery, while stopping at many small towns, viewing wildlife such as dolphins and birds, and seeing some of the locals who live in small homes along the river and who came out to greet the ferry in small boats while it passed. At night, from the forward deck, there was opportunity to view a stunning star-scape, unaffected by ambient light. I opted for an air conditioned cabin, while some guests opted for hammocks on the open covered deck. The decks are very congested with many people in close quarters, so if you want privacy, some semblance of quiet, your own bathroom, plus the ability to better safeguard your belongings, I'd suggest paying extra for a cabin. Tourist guests sleeping in hammocks were cautioned by ferry staff to closely watch their belongings, stored out in the open on wooden pallets beside the hammocks, as petty theft was apparently not uncommon. This is a passenger/cargo ferry, so do not expect luxury. My cabin had a bunk bed and tiny attached bathroom, and a remote controlled air conditioning unit near the ceiling. The linens on the bed consisted of a fitted sheet on each mattress, and a pillow case on each pillow. That's it. No additional sheet, blanket, towel or other items such as soap/shampoo. Ferry staff will provide additional toilet paper, upon request. Meals were provided in a small cafeteria on the ferry, and were basic but filling. The cost was 10 R for breakfast, and 25 R each for lunch and dinner (60 R/day for all three meals). On the ferry I was on, the Itaberabe I, only cash or PIX was accepted as payment for meals. No credit cards. However, the ferry also had a small canteen where guests could purchase snacks, beverages including alcoholic drinks, and some toiletries. Here, payment by credit card was an option. I booked my four day ferry ride from Manaus to Belem through TripAdvisor, with Amazon Amazing Tours (AAT) as the provider. They made my ferry booking for me, provided transport from my Airbnb to the port, and paid the cash port fee. But aside from this, they didn't do much to earn the surcharge for booking with them via TripAdvisor. The TripAdvisor listing says that an English/Portuguese guide would be provided. AAT provided a driver who did not speak English, dropped off guests beside the ferry, and left. At check-in on the ferry, the ferry personnel were looking for a ticket or voucher from me, and would not accept my TripAdvisor voucher. It was only through the assistance of another bilingual traveler that this was sorted out, and I was able to obtain access to my cabin. It would have been helpful to have the AAT 'guide' stay and assist guests through the check-in process, rather than leaving them to fend for themselves. In hindsight, now having gone through the process and completed the ferry trip, I would recommend buying a ferry ticket directly from the ferry company (AR Transporte) at the port, at much less cost, and arranging for an Uber or taxi for transportation from hotel/accommodation to the port. Don't forget the port fee of 5 reales, paid in cash, to enter the port. If I could rate the overall experience separately, it would be 4.5/5. If I could rate Amazon Amazing Tours separately, it would be 1.5/5.Written 22 February 2025
- timothyc3970 contributionsConsider Booking Your Amazon Adventure Tour With Another Tour CompanyThis review is of two components. 1) The Amazon Experience - The Anaconda Lodge was very nice, and the staff helpful. Unfortunately, due to a build-up of grass on the river, it became virtually impassible by boat. As a result, we were only able to do two excursions: visit to a nearby town with an abandoned rubber tree era hotel, and an overnight stay in the jungle. All other excursions were cancelled, due to inaccessibility by boat, and the lodge was closed because new guests could not reach it. These two excursions were very good, and quite memorable. 2) Refunds - Amazon Amazing Tours issued cash refunds to those guests who booked directly with them, because guests could not participate in all the planned excursions. For those of us who booked through third party agents, such as TripAdvisor, we were told to apply for refunds via these agents. I have messaged Amazon Amazing Tours twice via TripAdvisor messaging, seeking my refund, and have not received the courtesy of a reply. Prior to this, if I sent them messages regarding the tour, they typically responded within 24 hours. It would be easy to argue that the grass build-up on the river was unforeseeable, and therefore an 'Act of God,' which would not entitle guests to refunds. To me this would be totally understandable. However, since the company chose to issue cash refunds to some guests, and no refunds to others, this seems unfair and somewhat arbitrary. As a result, I cannot recommend Amazon Amazing Tours, and would suggests to persons interested in an Amazon adventure tour seek out another tour company.Written 22 February 2025
- danielsQ3339HL0 contributionsInteresting and impressive hike in the junglePick up on time and there's a flexible regarding the drop off time and location. The guide is very friendly and speaks English very clearly. Showed us a lot of plants and we learned a lotWritten 20 February 2025

- 854margaretz0 contributionsA truly amazing Amazon experienceFrom the moment we got picked up at our hotel to when we got dropped off this trip was amazing. Amazon Amazing Tours is an efficient and friendly group of people. All our questions were answered, Leonardo sent regular texts with updates as to pickup times and place, and who the driver would be. The trip itself was magical. We had a small boat with 7 passengers only, sailing down a small tributary where we could get close up views of the flora and fauna. We saw harpy eagles, sloths hanging from trees, we fed bananas to squirrel monkeys (one of them sat on a man's head while grabbing the banana from him and eating it!), and we caught piranhas and were taught how to get the hooks off and throw them back in the water safely. Our jungle walk was so interesting, especially learning about the medicinal properties of the plants, and seeing the huge Samauma tree. We also had a lovely grilled fish lunch at a home on the river where we saw a toucan in the trees. It was during a brief rain shower but we sat outside under a roof so we got to watch the rain and get a feel for the season. Francisco was an entertaining driver who maneuvered traffic in a timely manner and everyone connected with this tour was determined to make this a memorable experience for us. My husband and I highly recommend Amazon Amazing Tours. Kudos to Leonardo and his five-star group! We liked it so much that we want to visit more of the Amazon.Written 29 January 2025
- Maz O0 contributionsMy time here was amazing! The staff were great and my guide, Rambo, was excellent! My room was basic but comfortable. The food was tasty, chicken, fish, rice, beans, for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was eggs, bread, sausage. A bit repetitive.Written 27 January 2025

We were warmly welcomed by the Rabbi at Manaus Chabad who gave us the history of Jews in the Amazon. Prayers were said before we visited Jewish grave sights at a local cemetery. A beautiful way to connect!

We are on a cruise and our ship leaves at 4pm.Will we have enough time

It says the Tour departs 00:00 or 12:00 AM... Both of these mean MIDNIGHT. When will the Tour actually depart? Also, I need the pick up at Manaus Port (Monday, May 13) from Iberostar Grand Amazon ship and return there. I will be attending an opera in the Manaus Opera House on May 17, so instead of visiting the Opera House, could I see Rio Negro Palace and Municipal Market, instead the Opera House? Thanks for your answers... Tom
