Flavio was Amazing in his knowledge of not only this attraction but advice and suggestions on other attractions whether they were good or honest when they weren’t worth it and able to suggest alternatives! I highly recommend this tour and him as an all star helpful tour guide all the way around!! Very accommodating and flexible.

A brilliant day with Flavio in Petropolis, he was brilliant at answering my questions and brought the various sites we visited to life including seeing the first ever telephone in Brazil! I had never heard of Santos Dumont before my trip and now I am a fan, I won't spoil the surprise but visiting his house was a real treat on the trip. Thank you for a brilliant day and it was definitely worth making the trip from Rio de Janeiro to see a different side to Brazil.

Flavio was awesome. I previously visited the Christ Reedemer about a year ago, and this was just a better experience! Flavio guided us up to the top within 20 minutes compared fo an hour when I didn't have a guide. He carefully curated an experience and was very knowledgeable about the history of this amazing wonder! I wish we had more time for him to show us more of Brazil! Our tour of Rio included a trip up the cable car to Sugar Loaf and a visit by train up to the Christ statue. Our very informative and friendly guide , Flavio, gave us lots of historical information and fun facts about the two sights as well as pointing out the beaches and famous places along the way. We had an outstanding private tour with Flavio that allowed to discover the wonderful city of Petropolis. Everyone stays and concentrates in Rio but this a great trip into the mountains outside the city and well worth your time. This is the imperial city and Emporer Pedro 2 and Theresa ruled from here ! On the scenic drive (1 hr) up the mountains Flavio explained the rich history of Brazil and the imperial family. It is a very nice drive with many picturesque overlooks. After visiting the former casino (huge bavarian style building) Flavio led us personally through the imperial museum and explained all the important exhibits. So much better than just reading place cards. We then saw the main cathedral de alcantara where the royal family is buried which is excellent gothic architecture and walked through the area seeing the different historic homes and parks. Petropolis is a city made for strolling. A complete surprise and to me one of the best reasons to see Petropolis was to visit the Santos Dumont home and learn about his life- he was actually the father of aviation (not the Wright Brothers!) and its a fascinating tour through his home. We had a buffet lunch at a very nice restaurant and saw the crystal palace - Flavio was passionate about sharing his knowledge and life experiences in Brazil with us - this made the tour so much more enjoyable and the fact that it was a private tour made it more personable. We give Flavio and the tour of Petropolis an enthusiastic recommendation. Its a special place and you will be really pleased you took the time to visit ...with Flavio !

We had a bit of trouble with the staff as they didn't speak english very well. But the tour is good, specially if you do not have much time available. Well organized and nice views. Realtively cheap

We took this tour 2 weeks ago. The two attractions of course are " must-sees" in Rio. What made the afternoon really special was our guide, Flavio Alvarenga. He is very knowledgeable, speaks excellent English, and stirs up special interest in the attractions, Rio, and Brazil in general. There was an unexpected problem with the traffic near Sugar Loaf, but Flavio navigated the local streets and found a parking space that was close and legal! Because of the expertise, friendliness and enthusiasm of our guide Flavio, this tour was truly the highlight of our stay in Rio. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

First of all, one must realize the importance of a new policy that citizens from the USA no longer need to apply for a travel visa to visit Brazil. This went into effect June 17, 2019. The new President of Brazil is encouraging travel and especially tourism to help the economy of Brazil. Customs at the International Airport was simple and quick. The tour company with which we are traveling arranged a day tour including the principle highlights of Rio de Janeiro: Sugar Loaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer Statue. At least two of the bays along which Rio has developed are viewed from these vantage points. We also stopped at the relatively “new” Cathedral in Rio, built to resemble a bee hive and round temple, based on Mayan Culture. Awe inspiring. All of the people we met were so friendly and welcoming. Prices were very affordable. All food we had was very good to excellent. I know we only scratched the surface of what there is to see and do in Rio de Janeiro and we hope to return some day to more deeply immerse ourselves in the culture and see the sites in and around Rio.
