My wife and I were recommended to use Ricardo for our guide by our travel agent when we visited Gramado and the surrounding region. We were so thoroughly pleased! Ricardo is a warm and engaging soul and extremely knowledgable about the area, its history, and all it has to offer. My wife is Brazilian and I was born in the US and speak decent Portuguese but Ricardo speaks fine English and could revert to it every once and awhile when I needed to. He even filled in on short notice to take us on another tour after the provider canceled. By the time we parted ways we knew we had a great new friend. Ricardo Lohmann is a superb tour guide. He is knowledgeable, engaging and warm with a great sense of humor. We enjoyed our tour of wineries in the Vale dos Vinhedos so much we hired him to guide us on the Caminhos de Pedra, the path and story of Italian immigrants in Rio Grande de Sul. We were eager to taste the renowned sparkling wines from the area, which we did to our delight at Casa Valduga. Ricardo also took us to Peculiare where we tasted varietals originally from the country of Georgia, a unique experience for us. We come from wine country - Washington State, USA, and have toured many wineries there. We were delighted with the beauty of Serra Gaucha and the delicious wines and food we enjoyed there. We, unfortunately, do not speak Portuguese. Ricardo’s English is very conversant; we always understood him and thoroughly enjoyed his company. We highly recommend him.

This was our first trip to the Brazilian wine region around Bento Gonçalves and Garibaldi. We had an AMAZING time. Our guide Ricardo knows the region so well. He shared so much history about the area and took us to some very well known wineries as well as small up and coming ones we would never have found on our own. Ricardo pointed out the best places to find local specialties like charcuterie and chocolate as well as lovely places to dine. His English is so easy to understand. He expresses himself well and did everything he could to please us. We had a memorable time. Obrigado Ricardo!

Ricardo was amazing! We took a full day tour with him to wineries that he recommended. All were exquisite. He recommended a wonderful Italian restaurant for lunch. He is very knowledgeable about the area and one of the few guides that speak English. Highly recommended!

We had an extremely pleasant day, in Ricardo’s company. He is knowledgeable about the wine region and his diverse background helped the conversation flow easily with the three of us, my wife and my 91 year old mother in law. We do not speak much Portuguese, but Ricardo made us feel comfortable and dealt with any translation issues with ease. The choice of wineries was good for us we felt very welcomed and relaxed, obviously Ricardo has a very good relationship with them. Lunch also was delicious another great choice. I would highly recommend this tour as a means to get to know and feel confident about the region.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful vineyard-filled areas around Gramado. Ricardo was very friendly, informative and nice driver We chatted about wines and he demonstrated great knowledge Also met some interesting people along the way and Thai private wine tour allowed me to expand my knowledge about wines in general and enjoy local great wines

We did 2 private tours with Ricardo - one to visit Gramado and Canela and all the most important tourist attractions in this area and the other one to visit the canyons. Ricardo did an excellent job showing us around and telling us the history behind all the spots we visited. He's fluent in English, very knowledgeable and super friendly. We also liked our van which had a baby seat for our son. We recommend Ricardo for everyone visiting the Gramado area!
