Nature lover and hiking
Oct 2020 • Solo
I had a lot of fun when I joined the hiking tour that was led by Dimitri. He made sure I get a lot of stops in between to recharge. He also showed the old villages that were abandoned many years ago. We were also fortunate that the weather was perfect. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to see a good view of Lake Ohrid.

ECO tourism in action.

Nice idea for organised tours through Ohrid region and Galicica National park. I dislike the idea for using ATV vehicles for tours through the park. They are very noisy and polluting. But bicycle paths are numerous and great!

Down-to-earth and fascinating
Feb 2020
My tour guide, Dimitri, contacted me via WhatsApp the day before and we arranged to meet in the cafe just outside my accommodation (I would recommend contacting the tour operator via TripAdvisor before-hand just to confirm your contact details). I met Dimitri at 0830, he had brought along another tour guide called Bobby, and we started off with a drink (included) and a chat to break the ice, get to know each other and discuss the day ahead. Both spoke fantastic English and were very down-to-earth and easy to get along with. It turned out this would be a private tour for just myself, assumingly because nobody else had booked (?). The tour would last 4-5 hours, we would drive to Velestovo, walk for a few hours via a couple of deserted villages and come back to Ohrid via public transport.
We left Ohrid and drove up to Velestovo, stopping to buy a mid-morning snack (included), and continued from there on foot. My tour was at the beginning of February and some of the routes we took were a bit muddy and/or rocky - I would recommend sturdy footwear and hiking gear. I wasn't watching the clock, but I estimate it took us about 45 mins / 1 hour to reach the first village. Here, Dimitri and Bobby led the way through the village giving me complete freedom to stop and look around wherever I fancied. Some of the buildings are absolutely devastated but most are still in a fairly good condition, and stopping to look through windows can seem like a look into the past. It's fascinating to see how houses in this area used to be built, seemingly out of nearby rocks, wood and whatever could be found all glued together with a home made mortar mix.
We left the deserted village behind and headed for village #2, stopping on some sunny high ground with a good view of the lake to have a mid-morning snack of Borek (pastry traditionally with mincemeat or cheese) and a yogurt drink before moving on. The 2nd village felt a bit more modern with at least some residents, as opposed to almost none in the first village. Here we bought a couple of snacks, and sat down to have a hot drink whilst we waited for the bus to arrive. The bus turned up after about 20 minutes, my fare was paid for and we arrived back in Ohrid sometime just after 1300.
I felt completely safe and comfortable the whole time, and felt I could approach my two guides with any topic of conversation. We talked about many subjects including the tour, Ohrid, Macedonian history and culture, but also Brexit, English culture and traditions, hobbies, jobs and family.
Highly recommended and a huge thankyou to Dimitri and Bobby for an excellent experience.

Awesome hiking
Sep 2019 • Friends
We hiked Magaro peak in Galicica NP with Dimitri's associate Jovan. The hike was splendid with beautiful views from top and Jovan was very helpful in leading the path especially on way down as well as pointing out scenic points. He was very entertaining throughout. And Dimitri was very helpful in organising this by meticulously answering all our queries and even helping out with hiking equipment. The communication and entire experience was super smooth.

I had a full day tour guide with Dimitar arranged by my company and I can just say that he is an exemplary tour guide. Very knowledgeable, so keen on making the tour of maximum fun and benefit and he is really one of the best guides I have seen in my trips worldwide. Highly recommended 👍🏼

Two Lakes View
Jul 2019 • Couples
We did the ‘Two lakes view’-hike led by Dimitri and it was a wonderful experience.
The combination of the incredibly beautiful landscape, together with the skillful and interesting stories of Dimitri, made it an unforgettable adventure. The view from the top on the two lakes, 3 different countries (Macedonia, Albania and Greece) was magical. Dimitri adjusts the pace and ensures that the nature park remains clean by collecting all the waste along the way.
Highly recommended and we will certainly return to experience even more adventures with Ohrid Outdoor Experience!

All the details of rooms, transportation, entrance fees were handled so smoothly and efficiently by Dimitri. Ohrid is a beautiful city and I can’t wait until I can go back. I want to do more exploring of the area.😄🚴🏻‍♀️🚣🏻‍♀️
