- kmcallister10 contributionsThe stars and planets, as you’ve never seen before! An amazing star gazing experience in the middle of Wadi Rum. This experience was so much better than I ever imagined. A brilliant and funny introduction by our leader, followed by a great explanation of what we were looking at in the sky, and then the highlight, We got to look at planets and stars through a number of large telescopes. I could see the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter, as well as a range of constellations that I never even knew existed. Would highly recommend.Written 5 December 2023

My husband, my 11 son, and I had a private experience right at our camp which was a perfect way to view the stars after a long day of travel. I would definitely recommend. - Newtygoa0 contributionsMust do Activity in Wadi RumStar Gazing at Rum stargazing is a must do Activity .. it gives u immense knowledge about our universe .. it teaches u a lot and it's not boring .. Professor Rami has lot of knowledge about the stars and the universe .. They give u free pick up and drop from Ur resort .. They are very honest as well .. we left our camera at their centre and when v called they confirmed to my relief that it was there .. Professor Rami even dropped it to my resort by walking all the way .. truly touched by this gesture .. Thank U Prof Rami and all at Rum Stargazing..Written 4 March 2020
- leahwild0 contributionsAmazing and unforgettable experienceThis was an absolutely amazing experience. Fakhri al Ameri is funny, knowledgeable, inspiring and extremely entertaining. He was so great with our huge group of starters, he coordinated our session beautifully so that everyone got a really good go on the telescopes. He gave lots of interesting and relevant information and he made time to answer a lot, of sometimes annoying, questions! Great experience, great guy, great telescopes, great skies and some absolutely great memories.Written 21 January 2020
- RayRavi0 contributionsStar Gazing at Wadi RumThe experience was good. Would have been better if it was a moonless night. Just one point I need to highlight. They told us that we could request for the group photos that they took at the end of the tour. I dropped them a request but they send me the photos of another group taken on another day. I wrote back to inform them and request for the correct photos. They never bothered to reply.Written 2 January 2020
- Prakash I0 contributionsThe best decision of our Jordan Trip!We can't emphasize enough how good the tour and the people are! We stayed in Aqaba and asked them to arrange for transport from our resort to Wadi Rum, tour of wadi rum, Dinner and Star Gazing experience... and they delivered! the highlight obviously was the star gazing experience which is done with a sense of humour and depth of knowledge. Just standing out in the open there without any lights and staring into the sky is an just amazing! Fakhri Alalami, the astro-photographer plus scuba diver plus a lot more!, is an amazing friend to take you on this journey! It's a definite must do - you will appreciate our universe more!Written 2 January 2020

It's a must do when in Wadi Rum. Very professional team of astronomers, fluent in English and even an arranged free pick-up and drop-off to/from nearby accommodation. We paid 20 JOD for 1,5 hours and it was definitely worth it. It starts with a short video and presentation from the funny professor and afterwards a live demo from a competent younger astronomer in the sand of Wadi Rum. He explained about navigation with the night sky and pointed out stars/constellations and zodiac signs. After that we all took turns in looking through the very professional and big telescopes. We saw the milky way, herculus cluster, Vega and of course the moon. We ended with a group picture (with the stars) and there was a possibility for private pictures for an extra fee of 5 JOD (which we found reasonable). Even better to do this tour without moonlight to see more stars. If it is your first time, it is good to be realistic about the view from a telescope and view some pictures online beforehand.

We were staying at Sun City Camp and saw a poster for this activity. It was a short drive and worth every minute of the 1.5 hours we spent there. The whole activity was well organized and orchestrated. Ghassan and the other guide ((whose name slipped my mind) were very knowledgeable and made the whole experience fun with their nerdy humor! A group photograph with the milky was as the background was the icing on the cake. Certainly a unique experience.

I absolutely recommend the experience. Everything was very immersive, extremely interesting and easily understandable. Fakhri was knowledgeable and kept our attention during the whole introduction with his jokes and songs, and Mahmood was very nice and funny and told us plenty of interesting facts about the stars. You can really see they are passionate about what they do and that they love the stars. Absolutely do not miss this if you are in Wadi Rum.

This trip is a scam!
It consists of waiting around in a cramped hot room for 20 minutes, listening to a pointless PowerPoint for another 20 minutes, then sharing 5 low quality telescopes between 40 people.
We were disappointed from start to finish.
Additionally there was a very bright full moon meaning that none of the referenced stars could even be seen. We should have been told this beforehand so we didn’t waste our time, or the trip should have been cancelled altogether.
To top this off, when we told the staff at the end that we were disappointed, we were met with a rude response and after discussing with our desert camp, we received a refund of only 30 JOD out of 170 JOD spent on the trip after a lot of back and forth.
This wasted a whole evening of our trip - make sure you don’t make the same mistake!

We cannot control the full moon. It has a certain cycle and becomes full everymonth. This happens worldwide and there not yet a technology to control it.

We were looking forward to a desert stargazing experience, but unfortunately, this missed the mark.
I have given 2 stars because of the enthusiasm and knowledge of the presenters however the experience itself was sub par.
The area they take you to has lots of buildings around and you are basically surrounded by light ! They use an area with tented walls with no roof to try to mitigate this but it doe not ! I can see as many stars at home in my yard with the naked eye.
We were expecting a more dark sky experience.
To topp it off you can either stand or sit in the sand in this area. The seating is directly in the sand , Bedouin seating would have worked better but nothing to sit on was provided.
They initially gave a presentation in one of the buildings and split you into groups however the groups were still large. Overall something we were excited to do and the sky was better on the drive to the event.

I'll preempt this review by saying the actual stargazing experience was fun. I enjoyed the telescopes. It was cool to see Jupiter, Saturn, and Andromeda. The guides who oversaw this part of the activity were friendly and engaging.
However, the experience only gets two stars because the communication and logistics were terrible. The representative at our camp told us the entire thing would take an hour and fifteen minutes (specified as leaving at 8:30pm, getting back at 9:45pm). The drive out there would take 10-15 minutes, we'd have 45 minutes of stargazing, and then it would take another 10-15 minutes to return to the camp.
In reality, the drive took 45 minutes because our truck picked up people from other camps. Our representative only told us this was going to happen after our truck left the camp. Once we got to the site, we had to wait 15 minutes for other trucks to arrive before the presentation got started.
Realizing this would take way longer than anticipated, we asked a representative if we could leave after after the telescopes (the first part of the experience). They said it was possible and told us to wait at the truck assembly point. After ten minutes of waiting there, the representative told us the truck wasn't coming after all. We'd have to wait for the second part of the experience to end so that the trucks could take everyone back at the scheduled end-time.
At no point did this representative or any other apologize. At a bare minimum, I'd have appreciated someone acknowledging that mistakes had been made and the organization was sorry for it. Hopefully this review (and others that mention the lack of organization and clear communication) will help improve this experience for future attendees.

Well worth going! We were lucky to have a clear night, and were able to look at 5 different views through telescopes, including Jupiter with 4 of its moons. Initially we had a very interesting information session inside, and then another one outside before viewing through the telescopes.
The only suggestion I'd have is to put a limit on the number of people for each session, as the wait lines to look through the telescopes were a bit long.

I am a lawyer from Austria and did a trip recently from Aqaba to the Wadi Rum desert, together with my wife and one of our daughters (16). At the camp where we stayed overnight, this trip was advertised. As we had nothing better to do, we booked this, but frankly did not expect a lot. However, it was a truly great experience (which is why I am writing this review): The operator has four *very* large telescopes, the main guide is an amazing person with a heavy American accent. It was super interesting and I personally learned a lot. The trip from the camp and back was flawlessly organized. Everybody at the site was super friendly and helpful. Five stars and no regrets.

Well worth the money. An amazing evening despite the fairly bright moon, the view of Saturn was incredible. Good introductory talk and the talk by the young and knowledgable Jordanian lady was very informative and interesting. Overall an excellant experience.

A very nice experience guided by two charismatic guys which will explain about the universe, planets and stars. The camp is equipped with performant telescopes which are used by everyone to watch the stars, the moon and the planets. I recommend if you visit Wadi Rum to NOT miss this experience.

I am staying in kempinski Aqaba, we have our own car on which we can reach to your pickup spot, please guide us.

Pick-ups usually happen at the camps of wadi-rum. If your car is safe to drive on sand, reach the nearest camp you find. If not, there is a parking in Disah city where you can leave your car and have someone pick you up from there. You need to arrange the pickup ahead of time.
