- keziahazelp0 contributionsFantastic ExperienceI booked a private car for myself for 10 days with a chauffeur cum guide. I also booked 3 activities through Lakpura. 1- Sigiriya Village Tour with Bull cart ride, boat ride, traditional village lunch and Tuk Tuk ride with hotel pick and drop. 2- Minneriya Elephant Afternoon Jeep Safari 3, Elephant ride from Sigiriya. Minus points - I was originally offered a sedan car which got changed at the last minute to a maturity wagon r. I did not mind this since I was a Solo traveler and my only condition was the car had to be in a good condition and have a powerful aircon which it did. The activities that I booked through Lakpura I quickly learnt was a big mistake since they over charged me like crazy and also took me to cheaper sightseeing places than what I booked. For example instead of Minneriya I was taken to a cheaper park Hurulu Eco and did the elephant ride there. When I brought to their notice they agreed to refund me 15000 LkR however I still feel I was heavily overcharged. Not happy with this. Plus points - Lakpura did arrange for a cheaper car option for my 10 days trip amounting to 500 USD with all inclusive - Toll, Parking Charged, Full tank Fuel, unlimited mileage within the given route of my designed itinerary, insurance, First Aid, High way Fees, Drivers accommodation, his meals and any other expenses, any other charges on road and 1.5 litres of sealed water bottle per day. Sri Nanda Perera was an excellent chauffeur cum guide cum friend. He took great care of me during the entire 10 days of trip and made sure that I did not face any problems, helped me beyond my expectations to ensure my trip was excellent and form good memories to take back home. His family was very nice and I spoke with his mother and his 3 kids. His mother made wood apple juice and wood apple puree for me because I wanted to taste the fruit. Sri Nanda also on the way bought me so many new Srilankan fruits, ice cream, Pizza, local snacks, tea and lion Beer on his own cost so that I get to experience the variety of new fruits that I don’t get in India. Sri Nanda is a very fun person and he became my friend so I take away another good friend memories from my trip. Sri Nanda also helped me buy sports shoes at a very reasonable price in Colombo since mine were completely worn out and torn from the trip. Sri Nanda on the last day also helped me exchange my LkR balance money to USD which I used to purchase Whisky for my Father from the duty free outlet at airport. Overall I had a blast in Srilanka for which I will always retain these wonderful memories and wonderful Srilankan people I met during my 10 days trip. Thank you my friend Sri Nanda Perera and I wish you from the bottom of my heart all success in your journey in life to make it to a big successful person in whatever you aspire to do for future businesses.Written 11 February 2025
- thatnytraveler0 contributionsSuper funTrain maybe delayed it once on it get ready for lots for scenic views. Definitely get a window seat in second class not first class since windows don’t open in first class. You’re in for a treat so bring snacks and drinks to chill to while you take in the views. Bring TP since you never know and enjoy the ride.Written 9 February 2025

- Janflute0 contributionsEnjoyable experienceWe really enjoyed our safari. Our driver and guide were skilled in spotting and we saw many birds and creatures, including two enormous crocodiles. The elephants didn’t put in a showing, due to the slight rain we were told, but we were lucky enough to see one by the road on the drive back from the park. We had a longer safari than we anticipated and the start time was changed to 2pm. We arrived back at the western park entrance at about 7pm. Our first hour in the park was very quiet and rewarding and we felt like we were the only visitors in the reserve. We were very glad that we had taken our own binoculars to use as this meant that we could see the animals and birds much better than with the naked eye. Our guide spoke little English so we weren’t able to find out much about what we were seeing and the various habitats unfortunately but a quick look at the information board before setting off did help. There was an element of ‘off road’ experience towards the end of our time in the park, which was fun but further animal spotting would have been preferable. Other safari jeeps were also doing this so I guess it’s part of the experience. Communication was good and the driver and guide were there to meet us on our arrival although we felt that a warmer introduction would have been nice.Written 29 January 2025
- Quest187213929140 contributionsWonderful train rideI went with my girl friends on 24th Jan 2025 and my train was from Nanu Oyo station to Ella. We booked a first class ticket, it was a 3hrs journey. The train ride is very scenic, you should take one if you are travelling to Nuwara Elliya in Srilanka.Written 26 January 2025

- WimborneAnnette0 contributionsExcellent experience with Crocodile Safari TourBooked with crocodile safari tours and had a great time! Our jeep driver was excellent and really had ‘eagle eyes’ when it came to spotting things we would never have noticed. We saw many elephants and also various species of birds and a couple of iguanas. We also had the best view of the crocodiles as the driver had binoculars to let us use. Many other people we saw did not and they missed out! Suggest either take your own or ask if your driver has some. Personally I think all the tours should offer them!Written 19 January 2025
