About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Sophie a0 contributionsThe best food and tour in old Delhi! This was a 10/10 experience!! Our tour guide Surav (Sam) was the best guide ever! We felt safe the entire time and he answered every question we asked along with giving us plenty of information about all our stops along the way. He really made it an amazing experience and I couldn’t recommend him more as a guide!! All of the food was perfect we highly enjoyed all of the dishes and the experiences along with them. This is such a memorable experience and I would do it again in a heart beat! Totally recommend this as a Must-Do!!Written 6 September 2024

- Venture490857701720 contributionsI really liked this tourThis tour was exactly what I needed as a first-comer to India. Dolly was very thoughtful about the group needs, if you needed something she helped. Also the amount of hours spent combined with information was absolutely good balanced. I liked also that she shared some facts and places which mostly local people know. For me the best choice :)Written 3 September 2024
- ilariat20160 contributionsUnforgettable trip to Incredible India! My husband and I decided at the last moment to leave for a three-week trip to India. Normally we love to organize trips on our own without relying on any agency, but this year, not having enough time, we decided to rely on Reality and we couldn't have made a better choice. We contacted Krishna, who is a truly incredible person. He provided us with a lot of information and gave us the best advice. In just under a week he and Shravan sent us a complete itinerary that met all our requests: 10 days travel to Rajahstan and 10 days travel to Ladakh. It was a simply wonderful experience. We received constant, punctual and complete assistance before and during the trip. A note of thanks to our splendid guides: Sam, our guide for the Rajasthan part, a well-prepared boy, always kind and helpful, he shared with us all his knowledge on the wonderful Indian culture, allowing us to have unique and incredible experiences as a local; Nissar our guide for Ladakh, we will never forget the treks done together between sharing our love for the mountains and laughing! We can only recommend anyone to rely on this agency for organizing a trip to India. Above all, it is a local, socially committed agency that works concretely to give help and support to the local community through their NGO. We visited the schools they built thanks and they do an incredible job for children education. In short, if you want to live a unique experience, in contact with the community, doing responsible tourism, trust Reality and you won't regret it. Thanks again Krishna, we hope to be able to travel with you again in the future.Written 1 September 2024

He was very knowledgeable as well as being very attentive and pleasant. We exceeded our expected tour duration as we were very interested to hear hear about Indian history (Sourav is Indian history graduate so very is knowledgeable). Is was also nice to discuss modern Indian life and culture as very relevant to the art. Highly recommend.Written 9 July 2024
- Anu19610 contributionsStreetside GourmetOld Delhi food - delicious and street smart food! Nothing short of world class cuisine. Must try are tandoori paranthas that are 12-14 inches round (a largest size pizza) which is mouth watering as fresh from Indian oven called Tandoor.Written 8 July 2024
- miray9590 contributionsA Mouthwatering Must Do of Old DelhiThis is a must do in Delhi! Before finding this tour, I wanted to indulge in the flavorful and delectable street food, but I was afraid of falling ill. Sourav assured us all the many delicious stops were completely vetted for sanitation and food quality by reality trips and tours. Sourav hunted down the best of the best food stops, rich in flavor and history, that were passed down generations. This was the perfect experience, with a balanced blend of entrancing history of Old Delhi, insider information on the architecture and the markets of Chandi Chowk, and countless food stops that sent us spiraling into food paradise. Sourav was constantly checking in us, ensuring comfort, answering questions, and ordering all the food and drinks that we were aching to try. Sourav was an exceptional guide, not only leading us safely through thr chaos of Chandi Chowk but becoming a true friend, recommending lesser known must-see Delhi attractions and offering his assistance for thr rest of our duration in India! This food tour was very reasonably priced and exceeded our expectations and more. Each day I find myself craving the mouthwatering food we shared!Written 6 July 2024
- Donna S0 contributionsDelicious Dehli food tourSam was an excellent guide, he told us about the history of the food, how it is made, the sights, sounds smells were amazing. As a westerner there is a fear of eating street food, in case you get ill. My saying is eat where the locals eat and you wont go wrong. The places Sam took us to where clean, hospitable and more important the food was delicious, we got to see places that we would have never found on our own and try dishes we have never tasted. It was exciting to explore areas of old Dehli, that we probably wouldn't have gone to on our own. I highly recommend this tour and Sam.Written 6 July 2024

I was hesitant to book the slams tour for our family but after reading so much about it, I knew I had to see one with my own eyes.
I booked a tour with reality tours & travel and we had the most interesting and enlightening experience with our guide Sourav!
Sourav speaks English fluently, was patient and attentive our needs. His vast knowledge was invaluable and added so much to understanding. We felt safe and welcome by the colony residents and overall learned so much about them and their lives. I think it’s a must experience in Delhi!

Amazing initiative. Love that our tour leader grew up and still lives in this community. What struck me the most was the kids…all happy and clearly much loved. We have much to learn from these people who may not have our financial wealth but have riches in terms of community and family support.

Incredible tour, gained an appreciation for life inside of the colony, such amazing people. Shows the less advertised side of the Delhi region which was very helpful to understand as a tourist. Abikesh is the best guide period, very large amount of knowledge of colony culture and overall society in India. You will be very lucky if you get him!

Excellent tour and the profits go to an excellent cause. Tavrej is a knowledgeable and friendly guide. You will see commercial areas where fabric is processed and clothing is made, residential areas, and the school that is run from the profits made by Reality Tours. No photos are allowed so the tour felt respectful and not intrusive to people living in the Sanjay Colony, but Reality Tours provides a link to photos you can download.

Vijay showed us around Sanjay Colony and the neighbourhood. As someone that grew up and still lived there, it was super-interesting to hear how Vijay and the residents live their daily lives. We then had lunch at Vijay’s house and met his beautiful family. The food was delicious and it was a great experience for us and our kids.

Very insightful tour from a pleasant and well-prepared guide. The company organising the tours gives 80% of profits back to the community by organising almost-free courses to educate the children of the community in English and digital skills.
The only downside is the fact that you cannot take photographs: while we 100% get that it’s for privacy reasons, they should still try to organise with local people “safe places” for photographers, as this would attract more people and raise more awareness in tourists.

For me and my friend, the Sanjay Colony Tour was an unforgettable experience and the opportunity to see a different side of Delhi which we dind't expect to have access to.
Our guide, Dolly, was a very nice and well prepared young lady from Sanjay, and gave us a lot of info about life in the colony and and answered patiently all our questions about it.
would definitely recommend and as a way to discover without prejudice and in an ethical manner, life in this kind of settlement and have the concrete opportunity to help.

This tour was really good, My guide was professional, prompt, and took great care to explain everything before we headed out for the tour. We saw parts of Delhi that we probably wouldn't have otherwise, and reality tours and travel are doing some great work with the children in the area. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting.

I would love to book a private tour, with my boyfriend and me as the only guests. Is that possible? If yes, how much would it cost & how can I book it?
Thanks a lot!

I am wanting to do this morning tour and than go straight to another tour (by same company) meeting at connaught place but i am nervous to catch the train back to connaught place by myself from the Slum Colony. Will the guide help me buy a train ticket back to connaught place and help me get on the right train? I am a solo female traveller and it will be my first morning in Delhi by myself.
Written 24 October 2019
I also traveled alone when I took the slum tour, the metro is very easy to use.
Nothing to worry, the metro has a female only cart.
And the guide will tell you how to get back to connaught place.
If you don't want to take the metto you can always take Uber.
Enjoy your trip.

Im interested in the Tour with Lunch. How long is the entire tour including lunch? Do you have to find transport back to hotel from lunch house? With the 'Cooking Experience' Tour do you also see the slums for 3 hours or is it just a cooking class? Can you choose what you would like to make to eat? I have dietary requirements. Thank
Written 16 October 2019
1. The tour lasts 3 hours and a half
2. The Sanjay Colony is next to a metro station. The guides meet you there and bring you back as well after the family lunch (they are very lovely)

I'm planning a trip of 14 of us, I have read that there is a max of 6 per tour. Is there one tour at each time or is there multiple tours going in the morning/afternoon? Thanks in advance.
Written 14 March 2019
You can definitely do tours with larger groups of people. The group will be divided into a few smaller groups so that there will be a maximum of 6 people per guide.

Wondering if it would be acceptable to donate writing paper and pencils to the school when we visit. Would have people willing to send with me to drop off at the school

That would be fantastic! Wish I had had the forethought to do that before I went.

So we will be staying at the Taj Palace Hotel, Diplomatic Enclave. How do we get to the start of the tour from the hotel, and how do we get back from the tour back to our hotel?
Written 27 December 2018
Take a taxi to Connaught Place. The metro entrances are all numbered around the circle with big blue signs. I believe you meet your guide at #1. Then you and your guide take the metro together to Sanjay. The Taj Palace will get you a taxi, and there are also taxis and auto rickshaws you can hire yourself just outside the main hotel gate :)

I see that this tour meets up at Departure Point Connaught Place, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station Gate 1. India is new so as much as I want to take this tour I am scared of getting lost traveling to the Metro station with all the scam I hear about Tuk Tuk driving taking you to another place Is it fairly easy to get there? Can my Hotel help me arrange this tour?
Written 27 August 2018
We had no issues at all travelling by tuk tuk, taxi, uber, and metro in New Delhi. if you are apprehensive about taking a tuk tuk, you could use uber or have your hotel assist you. The tour was a lot of fun!
