MatiaMahal, One of our most popular trails is the food walk in old Delhithe lane opposite Jama Masjid Gate No. 1.Explore the lane next to the grand JamaMasjid which bask in fumes of clay oven-charcoal and grill, lamb and tender chicken over fire ready to be served as kebab’s,a lane must visit for non-veg lovers. Tasting some dishes kebab’s, assorted curry, stew’s, breads, biryani at famous Karmi’s, AlJhawarrestaurant which belongs to the generation of the royal chef’s of the royalcourt of Mughal Delhi era. Al Jawahar Restaurant was the first stop (find it on your left as soon as you enter MatiaMahal from Jama Masjid Gate No. 1, just before Karim’s lane). Located right next to the famous Karim’s, this restaurant is very popular. They have a big space and a neat seating arrangement. You can sample their Mutton Stew and Mutton Qormaalong with rotis. Following that satisfactory snack, you walk deeper into the lane to reach Aslam Chicken Corner (again on the left) that serves Butter Chicken. Now this is not your regular Butter Chicken. At Aslam’s, when they say Butter Chicken, they literally mean butter and chicken. The front façade of the shop would greet you with hundreds of neatly piled chicken thighs. A non-vegetarian food walk at the heart of Old Delhi, would be left incomplete without some biryani. So you proceed further went down the lane to try out some buff biryani. A long walk through the bustling lanes and a few left turns and we reached DilPasand Biryani Point, a small biryani shop swarmed by the locals.
